  1. It is wedged in all the way and doesn't adjust the volume or mute. Tried prying it out but no joy. Can these units be replaced and if so I'm assuming it is a steering wheel off job?
  2. Rusty disks or grinding under braking, one touch working on all windows, there was a 2015 recall for washer jets, as mentioned chrome around windows, key present for any locknuts, peeling chrome on door handles, loud buzzing vibration from behind dash, all exterior door handles smooth opening, if rear wash wipe check for leaking into boot. May sound like a lot, but you may have none of the above.
  3. Yup, read all the threads, have done bonnet, boot, b pillars, under rear seat, wheel arches. This is one of the few areas left!
  4. Sound deadening is what I am up to. Done most areas and have some left, may as well do behind those trims.
  5. Thanks dude, really helpful. Above and beyond. Your wife must be delighted with what you've done to the living room!
  6. To clarify, C pillar trim has to come off, and the plastic shelf and large side trim are actually joined and are removed as one?
  7. Wow, absolutely brilliant, thank you!
  8. Any tips on how to remove the large side trims from the hatch boot? I know there is a screw behind the hook, and a few along the floor, but are there any more, and do the plastic parcel shelf trims need removing as well?
  9. Same handle on ours is peeling on the inside. Not sharp luckily. Skoda wanted €100 plus to fix so we ignored it.
  10. Forgot to mention creaking suspension or chrome window trim, had those issues too. Corroding centre caps, got 20 from Ali for peanuts, seem as good as the real thing.
  11. Bit of a no brainer alright, especially with the dreaded: Error: workshop! Leave vehicle only when selector lever is in position P
  12. When I first got my wife's Superb a few years ago I was so impressed with the car I asked the question "How did they do it?" So much car for such a good price, I liked it so much I sold my 5-Series bought one. Keep in mind that both our Superbs (1.4tsi ACT) where bought 1 and 2 years old for massive savings over new. After having both cars for a few years I think the answer to the above question is despite a lot of VAG shared mechanical components, the Superb is noticeably, and understandably built to a budget in some areas. The list of issues we have had with ours as follows: Peeling chrome - DSG lever, door handles and air vent. Sticky exterior door handles. Driver's side electric window switch becoming erratic. Failed boot latch. Cheap rusty brake disks. Misaligned glove box Error service: leave vehicle only when selector in position p. (Common across VAG) Bar the DSG sensor error which is a bit concerning, all the other things are easily ignored or cheap to fix, and none of them have tainted the ownership experience. I still rate it as the best car I've ever owned for its breadth of abilities. They are getting expensive new, but a 1 or 2 year old is still one of the most compelling family used car buys out there. It's a car I would never hesitate to recommend, and when it comes to replacement time will be a very tough act to follow.
  13. I hate those door edge protectors with passion. Apart from looking aweful if you leave them on for any length of time they trap dirt, so when you do eventually remove them the door edges can be quite marred, if corrosion sets in you won't see it either. They end up looking worse than a few easily touched in door edge knocks. Just my 2c.🙂
  14. We have this too, Skoda wanted €100+ to replace. Not worth it really.
  15. Ditto to this, I did my tailgate as well, noticeably heavier to open and quicker to slam. On the upside it does sound like a bank vault door closing. I may go back in and remove a few sheets.
  16. If you wait long enough the chrome trim around the doors will fall off!
  17. Yup, had a look yesterday and there it it, looks very straightforward, great design! Thanks again folks.
  18. That's great Bap, thank you! Not sure if the procedure is the same for RHD cars, but will have a look today.
  19. Would you mind posting the procedure for this? I've never been able to find instructions online. Thanks!
  20. That is the number alright, mine is a hatch.
  21. Very easy, but you will need a set of thin trim removal tools. It is removed from outside the car. If you look at the photo all you need to do is push the tabs inwards and the handle will release. I used three removal tools, one for each tab, pushing a the tab on the narrow side first, then the two tabs on the long side. With three tabs pressed in the handle will start to release from the bodywork. Don't worry about snapping the tabs on the old handle as it is going in the bin anyway. There is enough slack on the cable now to remove the handle. Then you need a small screwdriver to push the small plastic tab on the connector to one side and the connector will release easily. Don't be tempted to use anything other than plastic trim removal tools. Anything metal will scratch the paint work around the handle. That's it, really a few minutes.
  22. Just fitted the new handle using some trim removal tools, two tabs on the long sides, one on the short sides, out she pops, remove connector, plug into new handle and push it back in. 2 minute job. Hope the turns and erratic problem into a permanent fix.
  23. I like think I know a bit about cars, have owned numerous of various marques over 30 years, been on many motoring forums, and this is the first time I've ever heard you can tell belt of chain just be looking at the engine bay, or have heard advice you that effect. Not saying you are wrong, just saying this is the first time I've heard this.
  24. Aliexpress had them for €10!
