  1. If it is leaking from the water pump it should be very easy to see, mounted high enough on the engine and on the N/S.
  2. BMW have deleted touchscreen functionality from a lot of models due to the chip shortage and offered customers a $500 rebate. A car these days without a touchscreen is unheard of, that would be deal breaker for me.
  3. More expensive, more prone to punctures, more road noise, decreased ride comfort. They may look a bit nicer, but don't think for a minute that bigger wheels are an upgrade.
  4. Not sure anyone is going to be able to advise you. It could be a simple hose failure or the pump. The pumps on the petrol engines are not known for failing as frequently as those on the diesels. The video below shows where to look. Keep us posted.
  5. One rear door down, one to go. So much easier than the front. All the tips for the front apply to the rear, just with fewer electrical connectors. Interestingly there is more factory sound installation stuck to the inside skin of the back door that the front. Broke two clips so really don't do this without spares. Having heard that Amazon and Aliexpress versions sometimes are poor fitting I got some from Skoda around a euro each. I seem to have broken three on every door that I've removed so buy a few. Also be sure to Hoover any broken clips out of the door, last thing you want is them rattling around in there. The hardest part was actually removing the window switch as it is very tight and the gaps are tiny to get your pricing tools in. Make sure your pry tools are thin and it is best to pry up first from the long side rather than the rear, short end. Door makes a lovely deep 'thunk' now closing.
  6. Anyone know how to remove the piano black plastic cover for the stereo?
  7. The left side of the top picture slots in under the headlining facing towards the front of the car. It's hard to tell but it looks like the tabs on the other side or damaged, so not gripping the headliner. It also looks like someone has tried glue on that side which obviously hasn't worked. Might be time to look for a replacement at a breakers yard.
  8. I was met by the same reaction from two Indies. As I said before it's a cheap enough job and I plan to hold on to the car for a few years still so worth it to me. Let's see if there is any noticeable improvement.
  9. Both front doors done this morning. Went pretty smooth bar a few broken door trim clips. I suggest getting a bag of these before you start. 2 mm Noico with 5 mm Noico red closed cell. Hardest part was probably disconnecting the various electrical connectors, each one with different (why?!) and some more more fiddly than others. Once the door card was off and the large plastic grommet removed I placed a layer of the 2 mm as far as my hands could reach. I wasn't able to get much below the crash crossmember as access was tight. I then applied some 2mm to the outside of the door skin and to the reverse of the door card, finally covering as much of the door card as I could with the closed cell foam. Did the passenger side first in case I made a mess of something. Also better to learn on this door rather than the door you'll be using most often. Took about 4 hours not rushing. Didn't take any good before and after photos unfortunately. Haven't driven the car but first impressions are are that it sounds more solid inside when slamming the door, outside the door slam sound is much the same though the door skin has a lovely solid feel when you tap it. A couple of tips: I used the round end of the 10mm spanner used for the bottom door nut, to press the 2mm in place, as it is hard to get the roller into the tight spaces. Take pictures as you go of the various connectors as the last thing you want to do is to have the door card on and have forgotten one. Don't forget having removed all the door card clips that the card pulls firmly upwards to remove. When trying to pull the large plastic grommet out prize from one of the longer sides first.
  10. 80,000km, 2015, 1.4tsi. Being done next Monday, will update with results.
  11. Doing mine in a few days, please post up any tips you picked up.
  12. £45 for a pollen filter, part is £10 and it is a five minute job!
  13. Keep in mind cheap Chinese replacements. € 6,49 36%OFF | 2pcs LED Car Door Light Courtesy Light For Skoda Superb 2 MK2 Superb 3 Car Door Signal Lamp Welcome Light Logo Projector Lamp https://a.aliexpress.com/_mrKGCXc
  14. Haven't seen that shade of green since the mid nineties!
  15. If the tabs are broken then yes, but if not you just push them back in, think it hooks under the top and clips on the bottom.
  16. I have a garage booked for a couple of weeks to change the oil on my six speed manual. Car has always had a bit of a wine in first I would be interested to see if this does anything to dampen down. I would attempt it myself as it looks pretty straightforward but have no way of working on the car raised while level. Going to supply official VW oil part number G052171A2 , capacity is 2.3 L. (€75 plus €60 for the labour.). Skoda wanted €250 for the job. The garage doing the work is happy for me to watch and to see the quality of the oil that comes out. Will update when done.
  17. I still rate it a better car than the F10 5 series it replaced. You may have none of the above issues if lucky. It's the first car I've owned that has given me zero reason to want to change it. They are just so well rounded.
  18. Peeling chrome on interior door handles. Rust on door strap recesses. DSG leave in P error on dash, can be intermittent and expensive to fix. Rusty brake disks. Check for boot leaks if it has rear wiper. Are one touch windows working, switches can act up. Pollution sensors fail, only a diagnostic will reveal. Both ours are not working. I'll fitting glovebox. Buzzing sound behind dash at 2000 RPM. Exterior chrome trim rubbing around doors. You may have some or none of the above, we have had a few of the above on two cars over 6 years. Most of them are minor bar the DSG problem.
  19. Digifish produced this great video.
  20. Holy hell, I hate to break it to but that boot liner isn't working! 😂
  21. Front door cards are a bit more tricky than the rears and yes, there are electrical connecters and the door cable to disconnect. I also have a little rattle in there but as yet have not tackled removing the door card.
  22. Hope the fact that you have had it stripped down already doesn't prejudice any warranty claim. It shouldn't of course but they could try to claim the fault arose out of taking things apart. They tend to look for any way out. You may wish to keep that to yourself?
  23. Did you have clear faults or anything or did the sensor just work when refitted?
  24. We have a 2015 and a 2016, both sensors have failed. Not bothered replacing them, I usually reach for the recirculation button when I see a diesel belching out fumes ahead, probably quicker than the sensor would react!
  25. Have been getting the... Error service: leave vehicle only when selector in position p ...for a while now. Skoda opened up the shifter area to see was it the cheaper microswitch fix (which they new about) or a full assembly. They claim it is the full assembly costing €1,200. Anyone know if this is true, or are they just trying to make a bigger job out of this? 2016, 7 speed DSG, 1.4tsi 150 ACT.
