  1. Test drove an Enyaq today, was intrigued to see how it would perform. As expected it was a very nice drive, that quiey, effortless surge of EV acceleration is seductive. No engine noise is a plus under acceleration, very refined. However the ride comfort was no better than the Superb, there was arguably more road and cabin noise at speed. I appreciated how some of the driver controls were familiar, steering wheel, adaptive cruise control. The touchscreen wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Anyway, just curious to see heard anyone else considered migrating over to EV. I would fear I would regret moving on as I the Superb it's just such a well rounded machine, and suits almost every eventuality.
  2. I like the look of those PSB, more OEM I suspect than the Powerflex.
  3. I've tried everything, lithium grease, PTFE, Silcon, nothing lasts more than a few days. Very annoying but just live with it now. Dropping the subframe to replace the anti roll bar is the last resort and even then not sure the new bushings would be any different from the old ones. Anyone done this?
  4. Was around €1100, which was a really good price. I think around €1500 at an Indy is more typical.
  5. Bit pedantic but true, you know what I am getting at. An older car is more likely to have higher mileage, hence more likely to be near failure. OP, my 20015 at 140K just had new clutch and flywheel fitted.
  6. Most likely clutch on the way out, how old is the clutch?
  7. Our dealer wanted something daft to replace it. When I had the door cards off for some sound installation work, it look like a relatively straightforward job to remove the lever part, so I would imagine if you were on for a bit of DIY you could do it.
  8. Did you order the parts directly from Skoda or someone else, link? Thanks.
  9. Did you notice any difference in suspension isolation or noise Martin? Thinking of doing this too. TIA
  10. Does anyone know if the fuel filter ever needs to be changed on the petrol engine (1.4tsi)? Think I read somewhere that is buried at the petrol tank and not intended to ever be changed?
  11. They fail over time, I've replaced both mine and my wife's (2015 and 2016). You can buy the switch unit on Amazon and it works perfectly. If you follow the steps above it is a 5 minute job to remove the unit, then go inside and swap over with the below. It is a DIY job but you do need some plastic trim tools. No need to remove the door card, typical dealer nonsense. Good luck! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Electric-Master-Window-Switch-Oc-tavia/dp/B07NZ5BPTX/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?af=eyJxdWFydHpWZWhpY2xlIjoiMTA2LTExNjc1In0%3D&crid=2C8LI4INDM6MG&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.csV_yOESK2lAGAU3jadSa4b-PUfG4KNzH74A_Q1V1CcInDHyymd2S38hSV61MOR_3yzymvnVjXpqkrjmlxvi8TmSxt4ZFBMBQjQWTHSVfURf-MCxKnN8hZ53pyIixcnG1092-pOeCux-J-8fuiyBtJ7JZ5jyfAGZ9foIjugoc7q4aAOl8PMWHgIZWJjJQ9VtVOTuWDYRkpQ5kZmQoPLEAvnhr-0KmSOJWpy4O5ueCZM.gXMHrLNdWLo5ksoZBM58cHMUUULGqYFnqmfitMwRIDU&dib_tag=se&keywords=skoda+superb+window+switch&qid=1726130929&sprefix=skoda+superb+window%2Caps%2C67&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1
  12. Interesting, I find myself in a similar position looking at other cars now and getting a bit restless after seven years of ownership. I've been looking at a couple of EVs which feel like a quantum leap in terms of technology and performance. Yet every time I get back into the Superb I am struck by just what a brilliantly resolved package it is, the ergonomics are brilliant and everything just falls to hand, it does everything so well and is without like the best car I've ever owned. I would suspect that the novelty of a new car would wear off soon and I would miss so much of what is good about the Superb. Tread carefully!
  13. So first wheel bearing just went at 140,000km, passenger rear. Went from mild resonance to disconcertingly loud grumble in 3 days. Another thing I love about the Superb if you don't get bent over with stuff like this fails. New bearing was €70, you could actually get them for €50 or €140 if you wanted SKF. My local dealer replaced it for €80. Happy with that. Let's see how how long before the opposite axle goes.
  14. That many erratic failure is almost likely to be the battery. You've done well that your battery has lasted that long. The car does need to be told that you have a new battery but Halfords or similar will do that for you.
  15. That's fair price from a main dealer.
  16. What did you replace it with, OEM or upgraded speaker?
  17. Look at the state of this thing!
  18. Arnold Clark Glasgow is correct!
  19. Strangely enough no, but the car spent its first two years in Scotland where are the roads are heavily salted in winter so that could be the problem.
  20. Car is nearly 9 years old and the calipers sure look it. So wheels off and with a combination of drill and Dremel with a wire brush took all the rust off followed by 5 coats of UHT Silver paint. Didn't bother masking off the pads as they are due for replacement. Happy with the results and with new rotors, dust shield and pads going on shortly will look much fresher.
  21. Paid €1200 for clutch and flywheel recently. Keep looking as you will find a better price. A lot of garages make a big deal out of this job, but I watched the two guys (albeit pros) working on my car and they had the whole job completed in 1.5 hours.
  22. Cheers Pete, think I will pass on getting that done, but great to know.
  23. Thanks Pete, seems a bit mad that it doesn't need replacing but maybe I'm from a bygone age!
  24. Does anybody know if the fuel filter is worth replacing and if so where are they located on the car? There is very little information online that I can find. Thanks.
