  1. You lot are amateurs....... Fabia Estate 1.4 TDI S 75....
  2. Car is coming up for 2 years old. I've had it for 9 months and have done 12k so far so on long life. 2nd service will be due in 5-6k. (before anyone asks, my average journey is >25 miles due to living in the middle of nowhere, hence long life!)
  3. 19000 miles. Not really looked at the pads but woulnd't really be looking at such a low mileage. It's now reasonably loud but has been getting louder over the last say 1k. I guess there is no harm getting it booked in, just faf.
  4. Hi all, Over the last few weeks my little fabia has started to make a clunking noise when I apply the brakes when reversing. Basically you reverse, apply brakes, clunk, come to a stop. Any ideas? It's still under warranty so no real worries but thought I'd ask first, just incase it might be something simple.
  5. 11 grand for a 3 year old monty estate.... Has it been plated in gold?
  6. It's your engine trying to tell you not to apply power at such low revs and refusing to let you 'lug' it. If you've had to dip the clutch to stop the rev from becoming lower than idle, you probably should have come to a stop instead or have been traveling a little faster towards the roundabout.
  7. As a hifi 'enthusiast' I find the swing radio in my fabia perfectly adequate. You don't need as 'good' a system as you think you do due to road/wind noise entering the cabin sonically destroying all it's wake. If you want it to sound amazing when not moving or require stupid-o-bass look elsewhere.
  8. There is a Bernard Manning 70's sexist joke in there somewhere.......
  9. Don't forgot to ask for your free service/clean if they screwed up :P
  10. Random musing: My old 8P 2.0 TDI A3 had a recall due to a dodgy batch of DMFs which somehow 'set fire to themselves'. I wonder if skoda cars of the same build era (late 2003) would/could have the same issue.
  11. Go on a Saturday and visit the service department and start complaining and when they keep saying no simply increase the volume of your voice. Use phrases such as 'what have you sold me such a lump of ****' etc, making sure that all the people who are browsing for new cars hear what you are saying. They'll try and move you to a more private place, refuse and keep it up. It'll get fixed for free.
  12. What I've never understood is why with modern ECUs this isn't built in. This is also true with cold starts.
  13. No diesel :( (insert very unhappy face)
  14. The 'watever they spray on the fabric' thing appears to help, not so the paint protection. That's what wax is for.
  15. If all you are doing is lease (PCP etc), then why not. If you are buying long term, I'm not so sure.
  16. Random musing..... My 1.4 tdi fabia is definitely more economical than my wife's (killer of babies) 1.6 tdi golf, both pre and post fix. I guess it's the extra mass that really makes the difference.
  17. Yesterday I had to do a 300 mile round trip in 27+C heat. Instead of putting the fan on 3 with re-circ I did the same with the fan on 2. About twenty minutes into the journey I was starting to loose the feeling in my fingers as it was so cold ! I guess the air con isn't the best but does work properly, just maybe not as savage as I'm used to.
  18. That's probably it. I'm more used to the wife's 'artic blast' aircon when the fabia is more of a 'chilled breeze'.
  19. Mine is just up from poverty spec S... it's an S with aircon :P It's deffo working and only 20 months old. Just wondering how others found their aircon in 30c heat.
  20. Hi all, It's a proper roaster out there and my aircon is working.... but it's not exactly powerful or anywhere near of good as my wife's MK VI golf. Just TADTS or something up?
  21. Don't they just screw on with the screws that are already there? Also, where are you ordering from. I might get myself a set for a 'bit play'.
  22. If it's idling at just under 1k then it's doing a regen. Not sure if only doing 6.5miles a day will ever actually mean the regen is completed successfully.
  23. My 19 stone lard a**e is completely happy to travel the 100+ miles and 2 hour journey from my home to Edinburgh in a ultra basic fabia III S. If anything the seat is more comfy than the A3 'sport' I had before.
  24. Surely the answer is a question itself. The engine choice is a function of the driving you will be doing. I do 15k a year mostly on A roads and motorways so I bought a TDI. Average motorists with 7--10k a year and many short journeys should buy a TSI People who use the car less and mostly do small urban journeys should buy the MPI. etc etc.
