My council tax bill is the largest monthly expense after the 2 mortgages and the 2 cars and was £133 in 2012 and was £156 in 2020 (no doubt it will go up in 2021 like the previous 8 years). However the £23 increase over 8 years is around 15% so less than 2% per year overall. For the last 5 years I get an automatic 2% annual pay increase in the Autumn which is £600 before tax or £50 per month. Currently pay £20 per month for water (Severn Trent), £18 per month for Gas (British Gas), £18 per month for Electric (British Gas) and £13 per month for TV License. Pay much less per month to fuel our two cars in 2021 compared to 2020 in the region of £150 per month saving. In 2012 our mortgages were costing £753 and £574 per month but thanks to much lower interest rates now (typically 1.99% fixed) we are currently paying £646 and £483 per month so saving £198 per month compared to 9 years ago.
