  1. Something I noticed when I removed the rear parcel shelf recently is that there was a Czech Republic manufacturing sticker which had the date of12/12/2017 which is probably close to the car’s manufactured date.
  2. VW has added a 148bhp Pro motor in the ID3 with the 58kWH battery and a claimed 263 mile range for just £28,670 after the Government EV Grant. Pro motor cars get standard 100kW DC charging and it does 0-62mph (100kph) in 9.6 seconds.
  3. In Auto Express issue 1,665 news that platform sharing deal with VW and Ford that a crossover using the ID3 platform will arrive in 2023 looking similar to the Puma it will have a range from 250-350 miles. The ID3 is 4,261mm long and the Puma is 4,186mm long. The new model will probably be built at the Ford Plant in Cologne not far from VW's Wolfsburg plant. 58kWh batteries with either 143 or 201bhp or 77kWh with 201bhp also. Price wise it should span from £30,000 to £40,000.
  4. That's me the naked guy with the Red/White/Blue hat on.
  5. Day 54 totals now 72 hours and 1,804km. 39KM today in 1 hour 30 minutes and having a well deserved rest for a few days.
  6. Went past 41,000 calories after 60 minutes and 26km with update to follow later.
  7. No 2 weeks holiday and can't go anywhere plus wife's Karoq parked in front as we used it to make a couple of trips to the local tip to empty the garage after laminate flooring 6 rooms in our house. Been busy DIY but not going anywhere. Normally do 1,000 miles per month but since I bought it 4 months ago I've had 46 days on holiday so only done 2,500 miles.
  8. Hope mine starts tomorrow. Not fired it up for a couple of weeks.
  9. Had a busy day with a 2.4 mile walk to the shops (6,000 steps) , second carpet dumping trip to the local tip, cleaned both cars for the first time since December and managed 38km in 1 hour 30 minutes so the Day 53 totals are 70 hours 30 minutes and 1,765km. Being on holiday helps with 215km in the last 5 days as well.

@ZacDaMan72Just beat you Colin with a different thread title.
  11. Realised why I had been sweating so much since the laminate flooring was completed last Thursday. Having moved the bike into the family bathroom on a temporary basis when it got moved back into the bedroom I must have turned the tensioner knob from 4 to 5 making it harder to pedal for the last 177km LOL. Now turned back to setting 4 went past 40,000 calories after 48 minutes and 20km this morning. Wife insisted I jump on the scales because of my flat tummy and was shocked to see I am now 14 stone exactly or 89kg which means I have lost 9kg or 1 stone 6lbs in just over a year. To say I'm happy would be a gross understatement. Next target 85kg by end of 2021.
  12. Bet they start at £40,000 for the base version and rise to £45,000 before the Government EV Grant reduction.

Probably September 2021 since launch was January 2018 and usually on a 7 year cycle with a face lift halfway through the cycle.
  14. Better day today feeling strong most of the time and managed 2 hours and 51km so Day 52 totals are 69 hours and 1,727km.
  15. Was going to have a day off today but after dumping the first load of vinyl flooring, underlay and carpet at the local tip and reloading for tomorrow's second run thought I would get to 39,000 calories at least which was passed at 63 minutes and 27km and will update later. Over 800 have viewed my efforts so far @J.R.so if only 10% get some inspiration to get on a bike then that will feel like real success. Easy for spectators to comment from the sidelines when they are not the ones sweating.
  16. Been driving my Superb 150 diesel DSG for 4 months now and don't find it anything but smooth all the time. When the engine is cold it sometimes stays in 6th gear up to say 63mph and not having paddles I have to wait until it's warm enough to change upto 7th. However when it is warm it can change into 7th from 53mph. Overall after 2,500 miles it has averaged just over 60mpg so happy with the economy. Using the Individual mode I have the default setting in Eco so that the gearbox coasts (goes into neutral to save fuel) and the steering set to Sport which I prefer. Best economy was in the milder weather last October when I managed a 27 mile commute of 78.5mpg and I think in the spring and summer then 80mpg should be possible. Overall I prefer the 7 speed DSG to previous 6 speed manual Superb's I've owned.
  17. They get shorter the more you drive them. Unfortunately parking spaces don't. Welcome to a Superb choice.
  18. I am not boasting about what I'm doing, quite the opposite this is to show even in Lockdown we can remain fit given enough dedication and is there to encourage others to take inspiration in a warm and safe enviroment as Gyms have been closed so many times in the last 11 months.
  19. Some days are easier than others. I have cereal and milk for breakfast, today no lunch which is normal for me so have quite an appetite by dinner time (6pm when not working).
  20. Went past 38,000 calories in the afternoon on my way to 49km in 2 hours and Day 51 totals now 67 hours and 1,676km.

I'm probably 10 years away from buying an EV but it will be an SUV shaped model as we retire and sell both our ICE cars because we will only be doing a few miles per year and will charge from home. Hopefully the range by then will be nearer to 500 miles rather than today's 200-300 miles. If I was buying an EV this year it would the the VW First Edition ID.4 which looks ok and seems to do everything most people need in a car for a decent price.
  22. Some stats from the first 50 days. 744 calories per day (37,200 total) and 78 minutes per day on the bike with an average of 32.54km per day. Finally average speed so far 25.03kph not bad considering I'm cycling uphill all the time (level 4 incline). This morning just steady so far with 24km in the first hour as I'm aiming for a total of 2 hours today. Update later as usual.
  23. Went past 37,000 calories earlier and matched yesterday with 1 hour 30 minutes on the bike and slightly further with another 39km so Day 50 totals are 65 hours and 1,627km.
  24. Bought new in Jan 2018 our 1.5TSi front wheel drive manual Karoq is surprisingly good to drive thanks to the good power to weight (150PS and 1,305kg). Don't think I've ever been over 100mph in it in 3 years and 29,200 miles. Top speed is 126mph but it's not that sort of car. It is quiet and relaxing unless you extend it to the redline which it doesn't mind. In winter our car does 38-45mpg and in summer 45-55mpg and overall has averaged 46mpg which is pretty good for a compact SUV. Best was 66mpg IIRC. Just passed it's first MOT with no issues and just had new wiper blades front/rear from Halfords for £49 fitted. Came with 2 free services and second one due in 7 months time so not a penny on servicing yet. Original 18" alloys on our SEL came with Michelin Primacy 3 tyres in unusual 215/50R18 size which are expensive to replace so after 27,000 miles I put my Superb 8J alloys on with Bridgestone S001 235/40R19 tyres and although economy has dropped still can get 51mpg and there is huge grip in corners which is amusing from such a high seating position. Ride is still decent on these wide wheels and tyres with barely any more road noise on the motorway and it is a quiet cruiser also. Only paid £23,500 new for it and the SEL really is the pick of the range with such a good level of standard kit the only option on our car is the metallic paint. Even the alcantara/leather interior is still like brand new and it is so practical being able to fold the 3 rear seats and clip them onto the front seats turns it into a small van. Wife loves it and we have no intention of replacing it for many years more service.
