  1. UPDATE Dealer got back to me and he can get the spare wheel as individual parts, some in a couple of days the only thing problematic is the jack which will have to come from Czech so I will take delivery of most of it probably by Saturday total price £195.55.
  2. Does make you wonder... to be honest don't see why I should pay £260 if the Seat one would fit and can get that for £199 all in. Been checking on ebay but not as lucky as you @Panther_uk
  3. Thank you I have a 2 wheel drive so will chase my dealer we have also had car since February but not heard anything from them, if I don't get anywhere I'll try Michael Rang parts department, they have received email from Skoda to say they are chasing factory every day, he says he can get wheels not the jack or padding. I asked about the Ateca fitting so he is going to talk to another dealer in their group who has Skoda and Seat to let me know whether they are compatible. Hopefully an update to follow
  4. @westie38 did you get your spare wheel after buying the car? when did you order it? we have been waiting to hear from Skoda and our dealer as to when the spare wheels will be available, not heard anything so be interested to know - thanks
  5. We have looked at the CX5 twice now, last time when we changed the car but I was car sick on a very short motorway journey, then husband looked at the new one before buying the Karoq. I have to say I think Mazda are missing a trick, when he looked we knew we didn't want a diesel and he wanted to stay with an automatic. It also seemed that unless you bought the 2l diesel most of the gadgets are not available on the petrol version, all the things he was used to in his more expensive car, so the Mazda was off our list for that reason. xc40 was on our list too, we watched the launch live on youtube and it seemed from the marketing it may be just what we were looking for but getting any info on it back in Jan seemed so hard, about all we could find out was that it was going to start at over £40k, we had already decided we didn't want to spend that much otherwise we would have stuck with Lexus and got the RX. What was the back seat like? Our son is 16 and over 6ft tall so it has restricted a number of our choices due to SUVs often having cut off roofs in the back
  6. thanks for your concern it will be interesting to see how long the cleaning fetish lasts; at least I get to enjoy a clean car and he's not under my feet
  7. should have taken a photo of husband cleaning ours, he has a small set of steps and now uses a squeegy to wipe down the glass roof, the roof bars get loving treatment too, the leather seats have been conditioned so that the heat from the roof doesn't damage them, boy this car gets soooo much attention
  8. it has happened twice to husband, the first time we were out with friends reversing towards a wall near their house he could see he had space but vegetation was overhanging the sensors and the brakes came on pretty sharpish, I like you thought he'd hit something the second time reversing into our garage but in between the spaces our cars use so he could wax it and he had forgotten his table saw was sticking out and it stopped the car again as @patrolman says just like an emergency stop
  9. In my Edition I presume the same for all Karoqs the way we check the car is locked is because the door mirrors fold in automatically, it is very helpful when you've walked away from the car and you have that moment of doubt and you can just look and see the mirrors folded in. Personally I am pleased there are no beeps, although we live in the countryside with minimal neighbours my husband is a doctor so gets called in to work quite often at 3am and his car beeping would not be very popular as the sound would travel along way, if we come home late at night we always make sure if we open the electric boot we do so by touching the back rather than the driver's button otherwise that beeps. We just try to be considerate, I grew up in the era when people had Moss alarms fitted and they beeped and sounded at their own free will
  10. you are welcome, as I say we were confused because we were initially told to keep it 6 months but we couldn't find anything in the paperwork that referred to a clause that said you had to keep the PCP x months to qualify for the deposit or the services...when we told my brother in law about it he said "so the finance company got screwed" (he works for Barclays) well I have to say when your interest rate is 6.9% which seems high to me and there is nothing to stop the loophole then yes we took advantage of it, of course the dealer was very keen for us to take out the PCP too even though he knew we would pay it off as they had to pay money into our bank account because when we traded in our old car it was worth a lot more than the maximum deposit we could put down on the new car. Hope it goes well
  11. No not at all. We paid off the balance with some interest obviously but I can confirm we did not pay an extra £1500 which was our deposit contribution, our vouchers were printed off at the dealership. I have just got out my paperwork to check everything. Our PCP final payment was £47.60 more than we borrowed due to which was their admin fee and interest. Looking at our notes we were told if we cancelled day 15 to 30 we would be charged a full month interest and 28 days interest. You receive a statement that states how much you have to pay and are given 2 weeks to pay the amount, then receive a confirmation letter that states they no longer have an interest in your vehicle. We still have the paperwork for the free services.
  12. @Panther_uk that's what we have
  13. sorry I understand you now! We have the rolly up one that is always attached to the raised section of the boot which means it doesn't get in the way. When we looked at the old qashquai husband looked at the cardboard cover and it was one of the turnoffs, glad we got ours. All the cars I have seen in reviews, believe me husband watches them all on you tube show the retractable cover, have you asked the dealer about this?
  14. we were initially told by the dealer we would have to keep the PCP for 6 months at the time we thought we were saving £1799 so worth it, however by chance rang Skoda to enquire and found we were in the 14 day cooling off period and that we could pay it off. They sent us a letter and we were able to pay off, if however we had done it on the 15th day we were told we would have had to pay at least the first months full interest. The service plan vouchers were printed out at the dealers the day we collected the car so we already had those in our hands. Paid off and no problems
  15. be interested to hear what others say but we have Edition with varioflex and don't have the fancy load cover I presume you are talking about the bumper protection cover? our bumpers aren't painted so maybe why. We have had the centre console open several times going over speed bumps.
  16. I agree I was hoping more for a graphite grey in some lights the quartz looks quite blue and in others greyer, in one of the showrooms they had it next to the bright green painted wall they use in Skoda dealerships and under that light it looked more green grey
  17. I remember now that the problem with our wheels was that the centre stuck out more than the tyre
  18. With the car we did it on before it was possible to use the same wheels, we'll have to see what the tyre company says when we are in that position, hopefully a long time yet
  19. Sending commiserations I have to say that has been our experience on other cars with low profile tyres, I remember when husband scraped his on a previous car he was so mad at himself. The first set of replacement tyres he changed to non low profile, he anticipates doing that with the Karoq assuming that will be ok.
  20. The first Karoq we saw back at Christmas week was quartz grey and when we were considering colours that and the red were top of our list, we were going for the Edition so metallic colours are included. The red however is an extra cost, personally I'm glad we didn't only because it is a brighter red than the balls in the showroom make it appear and not what we would have been expecting. We were trading in a black car so that was out and silver, well lots of cars seem to be silver however it seems Quartz grey is the most popular colour in the Karoq In the end the decision was made as we bought our Karoq from a dealer that had one available to take away straight away with the options we were looking for and that was in quartz grey.
  21. Husband traded in his Lexus IS300H, prior to that Lexus GS300 and prior to that Lexus IS200, plus other Japanese cars although he used to love being sat very low down, you know the lowest seat level possible he was finding it harder and harder to get out of it, he is 53 I am 45. So he decided to look at the SUV market, I have joint problems so have always struggled to get out of the last car as I'm not particularly bendy. Having said that some of the SUVs are too high for me to step into, ie Volvo XC60 and 90. Now our son only 16 is over 6ft and sits in the rear that restricted lots of SUVs too ie Q2, Q3, NX, CX. I think car manufacturers need to wake up to the fact that kids are getting taller and the cars with chopped off roofs at the back mean anyone over 5'10 gets a crooked neck. Do we bring down the average slightly??
  22. nothing about speed restrictions on the box of the Lidl ones, for a Karoq you need the 120cm ones weight limit was 90kg
  23. In my experience I wouldn't have thought people can rely on it on UK roads. I live on a bendy country road and although I know the road well I had thought that the lane assist would work on it, a number of other drivers cross the white line and I had thought if something hit me I could say well I have lane assist and use that to prove I was on the correct side of road NO because it doesn't work. IME it works well on motorways and dual carriageways where there are white lines either side of the lane but the majority of roads we drive on in rural Kent the symbol doesn't go green or if it does it only works intermittently.
  24. In our Edition, it is as above really which is when lane assist shows green and you signal to change lanes the lane assist goes orange and lets you move across easily, IMHO if it makes people more likely to indicate it's a positive, my driving instructor always drummed into me about indicating as he said you aren't just indicating for other drivers but for pedestrians too. Just an aside as we are talking about lane assist, 3 times yesterday on a long journey when husband driving it beeped to say you must be in control - something similar. He had his hand on the steering wheel each time anyone else have this issue? If you are on the motorway staying in one lane due to no traffic you are unlikely to be keep moving your hands on the steering wheel, well he tends to keep his hand in one position anyway.
  25. Thank you @solarfusion husband managed to get these tonight from Lidl, he saw them on Monday but wasn't sure if they would fit, yet to try them but on Amazon they are £49.99 and Ebay about £60. Never had a car with all these attachments before but I'm sure it will be useful for the Wickes run at least my car won't be used to cram wood in now
