  1. I bought these from AliExpress, not very good quality - they looked like they had been covered in dust when sprayed.
  2. The VW rear LED number plate lights are a direct fit, probably exactly the same as the ones jbastos posted - they look the same. The VW part no is 3AF943021A, I bought mine from eBay. Straight swap and coded with OBDeleven.
  3. A difficult question to answer and when you ask it on a Skoda forum you can expect the answer to be skewed towards Skoda! The answer is really what you think (and feel) about the cars; both are desirable for their own reasons. I would spend a weekend driving both and this would hopefully steer (no pun intended) you towards one of them. Obviously, it's not all about driving/handling and would depend on how you percieve the style of the car, brand, tech, quality of interior, etc. You could be very practical and assess the trade-in value of both and depreciation over the next three years but that would really negate whatyour Dad is trying to do for you. I tend to write a for and against list to try and evaluate options - this may help to focus on what is important to you. Good luck with tour decision!
  4. Hi bigman1976, It's not the superglue, but the multi-purpose glue (see the photo). Available from all good retailers!
  5. Gorilla Glue - not the superglue - but the standard stuff. Apply very sparingly as it "foams" and allow to cure for 24hrs. It will never come apart again!
  6. Trust2K - wow, the facelift seats look fantastic, great work! Did you use a Skoda / aftermarket wiring or did you make your own? Also, can you advise where the wires connect to at the dashboard end - is it only to the BCM, or are there other wires that are connected elsewhere?
  7. Re-trim is a good choice and a lot less difficult
  8. BigBute, I'm in the process of retrofitting the vRS manually adjusted heated leater seats. Some advice based on my experience so far (I'm sure others will also contribute). The electric seat upgrade will be complex. You will need the correct loom from the seat to the BCM and a cliamtronic panel with the heated seat switches. Once the wiring is done the panel will need to be coded to the car and the BCM told that there are heated seats. In terms of loom, Kufatec do retrofit looms but do not currently offer one for the Mk3 Octavia. The car is an MQB platform so should be similar to the VW Mk7 Golf, which they offers loom for - the heated and electric version is 69.99 euros (https://www.kufatec.de/shop/en/volkswagen/golf/golf-7-5q/harness-seat-heating-golf-7-seat-adjustment?action_ms=1). I have seen a heated and electric seat loom on eBay for the Mk3 Superb - which I think may be an MQB platform? I've fitted my seats and the new climatronic panel and I'm in the process of trying to figure out the wiring (by dissembling a friends Superb with heated seats, the closest I can get to an Octavia) before ordering the Kufatec loom. The plugs to the seat connector differ on the golf (to the Octavia Mk3) so I have some 10-pin connectors to replace the seat and seat harness plugs so that they match up. One point to consider is that the vRS leather seats are not actually all leather - just the central sections - the same parts that are cloth on the standard vRS seats, the rest is still PU. This is poor by other manufacturers standards - Ford seats are far superior in comparison. If by any chance you're looking at a set of electric vRS seats with red stitching on eBay, they've been advertised for at least the last two months and have been reduced by a couple of hundred quid. I watched a set of vRs silver trim leather manual seats and they wend for £400 plus delivery. I bought mine (red stitching manual leather seats) for £300 plus delivery. The main issue with retrofitting heated seats (whether manual or electric) is the lack of information on the subject. When I finally get mine done I'll do a how-to for the forum. I hope this is of some help.
  9. The alcantara seats look good, they came with the facelift Mk3? I had them on my Mondeo Titanium X Sport - heated and cooled - which I really miss. Full leather better for two small children though - easier to keep clean!
  10. Thanks. No not the footwell lights, but retrofitting the heated leather seats. I need to run the wiring from the seats to the BCM. The seats are great :)
  11. Thanks Johnny, appreciated. It's been driving me nuts!
  12. Great - thanks - exactly what I'm looking for. So, I only need to remove the glove box. Does it drop out to the footwell when the lever is released?
  13. Thanks Ian. I'm retrofitting heated leather seats and I need to connect the wiring from the seat to the BCM. Everything else is in place, save the wiring and I've been strugfling to find a photo or diagram of the BCM.
  14. I'm hoping for some advice following a fruitless search of the internet and forum and review of the workshop manuals. I'm trying to access the BCM - I have found an image of where it is located, but how is it accessed (and what does it look like)? I can see the fuse board behind the glove box - is the BCM the box to the left of this, and if so how do I access / remove it (the BCM, not the glovebox)?
  15. Jacko, if you're looking for a set of alloys, I have a good set of 18" Geminis. See the link (below). If you're interested PM me with an offer. I'm in central Scotland but travel around most of the country for work.
  16. Pic attached. This is the smaller of the two bags that are in the link that Russ77 posted. A good size for the recess - not a massive bag but I don't carry the much in the way of cleaning, just leather cleaner, cockpit shine, scratch remover and some cloths. The bag has a velcro tab on base and back of the bag; the latter isn't much use as the bag doesn't reach the recess but I've ordered a karabiner from ebay to connect the top strap (as seen in the pic) to the luggage strap as Ads230 has done.
  17. Thanks Russ77, I ordered the same one. It fits in the right boot recess very well and cheap as chips - attractive to a Scotsman...
  18. Ant, Did you get any further with retrofitting the seat switches? I am trying to figure out how to enable the heated seats on a leather interior I've bought for my Octavia vRS.
  19. I just changed from a Mondeo Titanium X Sport 240ps, with the alacantra five level heating/cooled seats- they were great
  20. AutoAid, as per Rodge's recommendation. They insure the driver, not the car, which is great. You also get free cover for your partner/spouse and is a bargain at forty-odd quid. We used the cover last week for the first time (since joining in 2013) when my wife's car broke down 1 mile from home - great service.
  21. Thanks JohnnyType2. The seats are being delivered tomorrow so I should be able to match up the comnectors to the wiring diagram
  22. This looks great, just nipp3d out to the car to check if my Samsung Note 8 will fit - it's too big :( I'll just have to make do with the usb cable.
  23. Can anyone help with some advice on retrofitting vRS heated leather seats? I have purchased a full leather heated seat interior and the climate control heated seat switch (5E0907044N, see image below) but I need some advice on how to connect the seat plugs to the climate control switch. I presume there is a specific loom but I have no idea the part number or how to fit. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
