Aerial cable.
So this is how it happened as I was checking the wires at the back the wire I had spliced in for the aerial touched the chassis of the radio and all power went off to it. Ive checked fuses even the big one under the bonnet but none of them are blown and im getting power at both sides of the fuses. Im taking it that this may now be a wire short or fault created maybe ???

I tested at the fuse with volt meter and have power there.

OK so how do I test this socket with a volt meter please I'm assuming I have to have red probe on the inner prong and com on outer sheath I was messing around with it today again and whilst I had hands on wires and amp got a great signal but as soon as I put it all back into its recess lost all signal.

Skoda fabia 1.4 8v ticking noise
fair comment but it worked now you can say it was the oil and filter change but no real way to disprove it lol and i agree with modern engines but lets not forget my engine is 21 years old anyway i used this and the noise went away https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154081462663 but yes I do regular oil and filter changes with decent products so this has helped.

Skoda fabia 1.4 8v ticking noise
I had this exact noise and after a good oil and filter change and also an additive to reduce and coat tappets and a decent run down the motorway it was gone within 30 miles.

Also make sure you swop out the bump stops while doing this as will guarantee they are perished as sep said above and as I did replace the lot while its stripped down.

Ok going to hold my hands up ive done a muppet thing. I had the nose grille and bonnet off been doing some cosmetic work so anyway put the grille and bonnet back on and set the hinges etc then closed the bonnet to check gaps were all correct. At this moment I realised I had not replaced the little black handle that pops out of the bonnet grille so you can open the bonnet so now cannot get the bonnet open dohhhhhhhhh. Any ideas please ????
