  1. No ! I think I said meguiars but whatever. Being a member of an enthusiasts club myself I can only recommend the satisfaction of doing the work ones self. Never heard of an enthusiast who doesn't want to. Although there could be some who want to but for various reasons can't.
  2. Seems like more money than sense is the problem. You can get some really good Meguiars stuff at Halfords. Then just do it yourself , enjoy some satisfaction and reward yourself.
  3. Hi. Just to say that I have had the same experience and no loss of power like you said. However my Octavia had only 16k miles and was sorted under warranty. I was informed that the turbo actuator was loose and required some bracket or other. Anyway I'm not a mechanic but it seems unlikely that you would have no loss of power in the event of turbo being totally knackered. I would consult elsewhere !
  4. Yes I have that same camera mounted on the rear bottom diffuser. No drilling , just sticks on and easy access to boot via rubber grommet . feed wire down under diffuser and up through grommet.
  5. Yes we know and do turn it off but hey this is all beginning to turn a bit Troll like ,so let's just take it as read and move on !
  6. Well ! Thank you for that . It has been reported, but you must bear in mind all the other posts about the stop/start system. It has worked quite well for a while until recently as has been others experience so that's the reason for concern. As you say, yours is going well and that's good to know. Safety is paramount and I hope you have a good experience with your next due in February.
  7. The stop/start system is giving a lot of drivers problems and most dangerous, annoying and embarrassing is its potential for a rear end shunt. This as many know is liable to happen just as moving off from the traffic lights or when entering roundabout. Of course you can get it disabled but otherwise it must be switched off if you remember. Some may think its great but generally I find it is a danger.
  8. Hi hirez, I suppose it depends on how long you have the car that makes for lack of grip. You might find something reasonable in Halfords. What I do to avoid lack of grip and remove any sign of shine on it is to give it a good wipe with a wet chamois every time I wash the car and leave it to dry.
  9. Hi Andy, good that you have your car back and I notice you said the old rattles have come with it. I wonder if you have ever undone the undertray. I did that just partly and out came a lot of stones and gravel. might be a source of rattle.
  10. Hi, Liggy, I've never driven the 1.4 but can only compare the 1.0 tsi with other brands I have had like a 3.2 petrol, a 1.8 and a 1.2 petrol. Think the 1.4tsi must be very good as I find the 1.0 tsi is amazing , with power enough and seems like a much more powerful engine . ii
  11. Congratulations, its a beauty and yes I found it needs a different type of driving. Once I got used to switching off the start/stop before most journey's and engaging neutral before arriving at junction. Otherwise the stop start can cause a few unexpected drama's. It soon becomes a pleasure to drive.
  12. Sangrail, if you still havent got it sorted could I suggest that you have a look on ebay or amazon. There are some new ones at the £50/£100 mark not to mention many used ones.
  13. It seems like a loose connection that sometimes makes contact and works fine as you say, but for how long does it ?. you might have to take the car to an auto electrical workshop or consider main dealer. Meanwhile I would have a look to see if any accessible wire is it. With the system on gently wiggle any you can access. If found you could maybe tape it in position. ( of course it may be something other than a wire )
  14. somebody else mentioned 'Mil' not me, but thank you anyway!
  15. Wind up!, I havent a clue. dont know who Mil is either, never heard of it.
  16. interesting, thanks jim
  17. very informative thank you Aspman
  18. thanks Chimaera , I wondered what small v was about.
  19. Oh! thanks skidpan, is that a plan for your Se and Se L. When the VRS arrives I could send you the badges since you have such an interest.
  20. gixerman, I have no problem with brakes currently, I just agree with oldman. As it happens I have had plenty of experience with malfunction of electric park brake, particularly on Jaguar.
  21. Oh! Thanks Mac, I will be considering that for the next one. My current one seems more powerful than expected for a 3 cylinder, brakes are good, space is great and its a comfortable place to be. Can be quick off the mark and cruises effortlessly at the maximum or beyond.
  22. Dare I ask, could someone explain the designation of VRS, what it represents and what advantages it gives. (I know I am probably the only numbty who hasnt a clue but I notice the badge looks like something special.)
  23. Right ! ok thanks Jimg but there's another, a ford fiesta 1.2 4cyl petrol is only £30. Its not turbo charged, that might be to do with it.!
