  1. Whoah, can pre-18 have that off-road info if we enable those channels? Or is it only post 18? And what is involved in "hacking" Smartlink? Is that a DIY job or do you have to send the unit off? In which case, I may as well pay Skoda (although it hurts that I should have to pay to enable a basic function that is free now) Nick
  2. I haven't checked my 2015 head unit, but I have no issues with it. Does the upgrade (if there is one) bring any extra features or is it just to fix software bugs? Nick
  3. Does it have DAB? Or can you get a DAB adapter? I'd miss not having that. What was the total including import fees and VAT? Looks really good and I didn't know a 3rd party unit would integrate in to the cars systems, so that is good to know... Nick
  4. What does that mean @SashaGrace and what does it result in? Is it any different to just zeroing the stats on the head unit? thanks Nick
  5. It's an oversight not having a GPS speed display on the infotainment if you have a satnav. It will know the speed, it just needs a software update to enable it. Displaying it on the Maxidot might be a step too far, but there's no reason it shouldn't be an option on the main screen other than lazy user interface design. Anyway, I've read something about a "K" setting for different wheel sizes which allows the speedo to compensate up or down by changing this K value. But I don't know if it applies to mine or where I find the setting. I'll keep looking... Nick
  6. Now if you could adjust the cars MPG via OBDeleven, that would be great and I'm sure a good selling point for them!!
  7. It has 17's on it rather than the 16's normally supplied, but it was factory specced with them. Anyway, the wheel size shouldn't make any (much) difference as although the alloys have a bigger diameter, the tyres will have a smaller wall size to compensate.
  8. Hi Is it possible to adjust the speedo accuracy using OBDeleven? Mine does read 10% out - ie it displays 76/77mph when doing 70 on various GPS devices. Despite the fact I have tested this on in-car speedcamera GPS detectors (Snooper and 2 different Drivesmart models) and various phones and apps and have confirmed it, I still brake when doing 75 and I see a van on a bridge! I'd much rather have my speedo reading accurately, maybe 1-2mph out at 70, not 6-7 out. Is it possible to adjust it with OBDeleven? I guess it must be possible as the police have them calibrated and then checked each year. But can I do it myself? I suppose I would have to check it with new tyres and worn tyres as the few mm extra tread might make a difference. Or.... Since I have a satnav, is it possible to display the actual GPS speed either on the head unit or the maxidot display? TIA Nick
  9. Welcome to the Particulate Filter club. You have a PPF, I have a DPF. Either way, we have problems down the line...
  10. It's a sign you are getting old when you think "oh, great, that looks interesting" and you go to the site to find that your browser already has a stored username and password because you've use it before!!
  11. Mines recently had that - it was listed on the invoice as a "software update to prevent premature failure of the..." (I thought DPF being a diesel). Either way, that would imply I've been driving for 45k without the update, so I wonder if it failed tomorrow if I'd have any come back. Any more info on where to find the TSB's? Just for interesting bed time reading? tnx Nick
  12. Ok, normal then. Since Sport, Normal and Eco don't make that much difference, I can't see it being in order to protect the engine, but I can see it being emissions related. thanks Nick
  13. I don't use Sport mode much, but recently started to and I've noticed the following: If I set the car in Eco mode, when I drive it the next day, its still in Eco mode. However, if I set the car in Sport mode, the next day its in D or Normal mode. Why does it remember Eco mode but not Sport mode? Any one else got the same? Nick
  14. I'm interested. Could you get me a price to post please? Plymouth. I'll PM you my postcode. Not even sure I'll ever use them, but it'll give me something to do as I'm bored and what better way to kill some time than to fiddle with a car
  15. Can you send me a link/pm me a pic so I can see if it matches the one I have? It would give me something to do during lockdown! cheers Nick
  16. What do you want for it (inc postage) just out of interest? (And assuming Cz0cz3k isn't interested)
  17. There's several websites that charge for a download. Maybe you are missing an opportunity to charge VAG users a small fee for the service!!
  18. This no good? Free if you submit a camera. I'm sure I could find a camera to submit and get access? https://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras Apologies if the format etc is no good and you've already ruled it out... Nick
  19. It is also a good point for new owners to check whether the bag is physically present in any MIT SILICA tank.
  20. Is it in km then? So 100,000 miles or 5 years? It can't be 140,000 miles...
  21. I'm not disputing you, but how come the 2l has 140k if the 1.6 has 60k? Is the timing belt on those engines made of a different material or something?
  22. It's ok, with lockdown they haven't built any new roads in South Devon anyway, so I don't think I'm going to stumble across a new round-a-bout or housing estate on my travels between my house and Tesco...
  23. That's my logic. I can update my maps via Skoda FOC and if there ever becomes a point in the future that I can't, the likelihood will be that my infotainment system will be too old to support Appledroid 37.3 or whatver we are using!!
