  1. The Scope element is explained here https://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/extended-scope but it does appear to include most of the things in the extortionate oil and inspection service. I ditched Skoda main dealer servicing at the first opportunity and now get more done for less money at a local garage that I actually trust to do the work.
  2. Never believe the story a salesman tells you about previous owners, I was one, they're hardly likely to say they were boy racers! A married couple means nothing, my missus treats her car awfully! It also reads that despite buying a new car they had it serviced and had work done by an independent rather than the dealership. Sure, there are plenty of great independents out there as well dealerships but there are just as many dodgy ones. Who knows what work was carried out and to what standard? Like I said it is 4 years old not brand new so you can't expect it to be as good as new.
  3. Playing devils advocate here having worked in the motor trade for a number of years on the sales side the amount of times I've heard someone say, for example, "I just want a perfect running car it’s not asking a lot considering the mileage and 1 previous owner". You've answered your own question there, it's heading for 4 years old, out of warranty and has had one previous owner of unknown driving ability. People want all the benefits of a brand new car without buying one. I will site an example from back when I was selling Suzuki's. One of our aging customers bought a brand new Swift which we didn't see again for 3 years until he brought it in to P/X against another new one as he was having a few issues with it. In 3 years it had covered under 700 miles, it had never been in for a service, he had been riding the clutch and admitted he only used it once a week to do a 3 mile round trip to the shops and didn't take it out of 2nd gear as he didn't like driving fast. The wheels were kerbed and the tyres had chunks taken out of them. The engine had never even been warmed up. Now, this is an extreme scenario but a potential buyer of a second hand car wold just see a very low mileage, 3 year old, one owner car but they'd be buying a whole heap of potential issues. We didn't want it on our forecourt so traded it out.
  4. It does look similar but I didn't go anywhere near the stereo and being a Swing one it's part of the dash. I've been looking through the parts catalogue and can't find anything like it, the mystery remains
  5. It's covered in the first 3 minutes here: The side panel he opens at 57 seconds conceals 2 screws that he doesn't mention but they are easy to spot. You don't actually have to completely remove the centre console or disconnect the switches in it. You only need to slide it towards the back of the car a bit to get at the screws.
  6. I replaced the blower resistor yesterday https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/500487-blower-resistor/ and today found the object below in the passenger footwell. No idea what it is as it wasn't something I removed, did it fall off something or just hitched a lift in the car? It's hollow, made of rubber and 21mm tall. Answers on a post card
  7. Should have added that the local Skoda dealership wanted £180 so 2 hours labour!
  8. Well, I bit the bullet and started dismantling the dash. I found a video of a guy removing the dash from a write off which was for the latest model and a lot more useful than the odd blower resistor video I found. Even then there were a couple more screws holding the glove box in. Anyhow actually replacing the resistor took a minute max whilst the dash took a half hour to remove and replace. Luckily everything clipped/screwed back together nicely and the fan now works
  9. Fan only working on setting 4 so the resistor has blown so a quick and easy thing to replace....... Why oh why have Skoda decided that such a simple thing requires half the dash removing! I've found plenty of tutorials showing the multiple panels and screws that need locating but all are for LHD models. I'm assuming everything is mirrored in a RHD car? PS, if anyone has discovered a simpler way to get to the resistor feel free to share as it looks like a 5 minute job will probably take hours. I guess that's why it's so hard so a dealership can charge you an arm and a leg to do it 😉
  10. They don't in either of our Citigo's
  11. thebrighton replied to harrylime's topic in Škoda Citigo
We've 2 Citigo's, a 2012 and a 2016. Both came with one remote key and one normal key, just Skoda being tight!
  12. When both our Citigo's have full tanks (not sure when that will be possible again!) it does take a while before the needle starts dropping.
  13. The dash illumination is weird how it works. I often travel through the Blackwall Tunnel and as I enter in daylight the dash lights up but only for relatively short while, 10 seconds or so, then go off again. I'm sure I read somewhere on here Skoda do it on purpose to make you wish you'd added auto headlights as an option...... You can retrofit auto headlights and when you do the sensor goes in the bottom right corner of the windscreen but not sure if that is where it's factory fitted.
  14. I get the impression Skoda wish they'd never introduced the electric version and are pretending it never happened. It didn't last long in production (400 UK units?) and there have been some very specific issues around charging that have been there since release yet remain unresolved. Are Skoda even bothering to come up with a solution as judging by peoples experience here it doesn't look like it? Why didn't their R&D department spot this before release? They probably did but ignored it as they had a deadline to produce the car and get on the electric bandwagon. If Skoda put as much effort into research as they do in to excuses and deflection........ Bottom line is if they can't solve it admit it and compensate accordingly.
  15. So the standard reply you get from Skoda whatever the issue is. I've had 3 replies virtually word for word when contacting them all of which made zero difference. It's PR talk for "your enquiry has been suitably filed".
  16. Ah, the standard reply from Skoda no matter what the query. I wouldn't hold your breath.
  17. And it doesn't anymore after an update last November. It will not reload on to my phone whereas the VW and SEAT versions will. I gave up after an exchange of over 10 emails with Skoda who just liked the PID washed their hands of it.
  18. Oh I know, Garmin haven't even bothered replying. A little over 4 years after Skoda switching from a PID to an App and already they don't give a stuff about their customers.
  19. Skoda managed to finally reply and were s much use as a chocolate teapot! "Garmin unfortunately has no Apps that supports the update of the PID systems and has no other alternatives to this. The software updates are something that would need to be addressed to Garmin directly. There is no obligation on the seller to maintain software updates indefinitely. Whilst the above may come as a disappointment which I am very sorry about, I can only recommend that you contact Garmin directly."
  20. With little surprise neither Skoda or Garmin have bothered to reply so I have chased them again. I would guess that users of PID's aren't high on Skoda's list of valued customers.
  21. I've posted in a couple of places which you can find here https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/492871-navigon-1st-version-update/ and as yet I have yet to receive even an acknowledgement from either Skoda or Garmin. It appears that 5 years after switching to the Move & Fun app they've decided to no longer support the PID without any warning. Coupled with their lack of response their customer services are working as well as ever...... I should have added that I do have Garmin Fresh on a laptop but it no longer will update maps.
  22. It looks like Garmin no longer support the PID, see my post here: I've contacted both Skoda and Garmin. I fully expect to get nowhere with Skoda customer service based on past experience so await Garmins response.
  23. I coaxed the old laptop back into life to access Fresh and after a raft of clicking it would appear it is no longer supported by Garmin, understandable \I suppose but annoying!
  24. As the PID/App differences have been brought up again I thought I'd plug the PID into the laptop to see if there were any updates. It's not been used much recently due to Covid and since its last use the old laptop died and has been replaced. No worries I thought I'd just install Garmin Fresh onto the new laptop but evidently that's too easy. The Garmin page is there but if you click on install now it just comes up with a message saying the page doesn't exist. Any suggestions or thoughts other than Garmin don't support it anymore? Cheers.
  25. Never had to pay and I don't think there is any way you can for using either the PID or App services.
