Decisions decisions...
@newbie69 I have driven the supra with B58 engine and it's a very impressive engine wise. Incredibly powerful all across the rev range and turbo lag is very minimal. A stock M340i will definitely be an upgrade compared to a stage 1 280/272 not to mention what you can achieve by remapping the M340i. I'd love to drive an estate M340i but like you said, cost is an issue plus overall it's a smaller car. 540i would be great but even more costly.

Superb estate used - Go for 2.0 TSI 220PS or wait it out for 1.5 TSI?
Definitely go 220. Better box, better engine (think Golf GTI) and if you do small mileages and the marginal petrol costs isn't an issue, 280 is the way to go.

Superb 280, improve none existent exhaust note?
You are not the only one. The only indication I have that the valves are working is the clicking sound just after engine start.... Inside the car, nada, can't tell if it's open or closed. Still, it's got it and that's +20horsepwrs

Decisions decisions...
Feels like you are looking for good handling you can use for fun driving in a different way the superb is fun(fast). Maybe a second car that is built for that? Since you already have a fast car, it can just be a fun car with reasonable power. Gt86, mx-5?

How to Guide - Superb 3 OEM Intake Mod
Brilliant, but lots of effort to drill some holes! I just took the easy way and removed the snow grate.

Skoda Superb used car buying advice
280 also for the port injectors. No worries about carbon buildup. On a serious note, town driving on the 280 probably means sub 10km/L. My short nursery runs are 6km/L at 2miles round trip... But I guess any car will suffer. Longer trips easily 11-15km/L depending how much speed you want.

The 280PS Thread
@ewlmr I think by next may there will be many more phev and bev options. I am sure you'll be able to find an AWD one to suit.

Anyone else spec the heated steering wheel?
I don't have heated wheels otherwise I would have traded with you so I can have FOUR exhaust flaps on my car. Joking aside, I had a rental once with heated wheel and it's bloody nice...

Worst suspension in car ownership
Trading up from a 10year old civic, I find the sportline 280 suspension better. Not massively but better. Helps that it's 2+years old when I got it... Motorway speeds is when it's most comfy. Everything else I have no issues with except I know it's not the best.

Superb MKIII owners register
Yes definitely only one at a time and try to avoid crawling with brake modulation. All in all, you'll love the dsg. Super quick shifts.

That (I know some people do it!) Or just the regular crawl with foot slightly on the brake to modulate crawling speed (this is common in automatic driving)

The 280PS Thread
In due time the 272 will be gone for sure. Co2 regs are steadily pushing manufacturers to go the electrification route. VAG seems to be enjoying good success with its BEV and PHEV range so hopefully cars like the 272 carries on for a bit. My 280 is probably the last full ICE car I will own if things go to plan.

DSG works mostly like a torque converter (traditional) auto. However it uses clutches so it's not advisable to crawl with pedal on the brakes or try to hold the car with throttle on an incline (I think the car prevents it anyway). Doing so will slip the clutch and might result in more wear. It's also a bit slow to react in certain situations but no big deal 9nce you know. In return, you get really quick shifts, a direct driving feel like a manual.

Skoda Enyaq
I think they will figure out a way to do it with their electrified platforms going forwards to keep the differentiation but didn't do much for this round with the MEB platform. They are already doing it with the Taycan/Audi E-tron GT which is the same thing with different power (motors?) The gap has narrowed between VAG's brands but there are still brand specific USPs.

Size probably. Plus with dealer incentives might be cheaper? Who knows.

Haldex pump clean at 20k miles
Last couple of minutes explains why it's good to keep the mesh clean. Summary: if it's clogged, significantly higher current is required to run the pump to achieve required pressure. Overworking the pump and control module.

2020 2.0tsi real world economy?
The 190 tsi uses the gen3b engine with budack cycle. If it works as designed, should be quite efficient at low loads, e.g. cruising on motorway at 60-70mph. Hit a 50 average speed area and it should be fantastico

280 4x4
Overall with or without DCC, the 280/272 is tuned more towards comfort. My non DCC 280 sportline is OK in town but feels nice and pliant (not wallowy) at higher speeds e.g. motorway speeds. With DCC I guess you have more modes to choose from to alter it a bit.

Haldex pump clean at 20k miles
@J.R. I don't think I ever experienced that. Heard lots of pump failure, not sure if diff failures are common or not. Guy at the garage said there was a TT-RS that had the haldex pump failed even with regular oil changes. However the pump filter was never cleaned
-
Haldex pump clean at 20k miles
I believe with the gen V haldex, under certain low load conditions the rear is completely disconnected. What is true is that the pump is always working to pump fluid through the system and routing it as appropriate, more to the clutch if drive is required. That mesh forms part of the fluid path so if clogged, there will be fluid starvation and possibly even overheating of the pump as the fluid likely serves as heat transfer too.

Haldex pump clean at 20k miles
I have never launched it since I bought it used nearly 2 years ago precisely due to the fact that I know the pump has never been cleaned. Not sure what the first owner did so I cannot comment. That said, with dsg oil and this done, I plan to try out a launch when I get the opportunity.

Haldex pump clean at 20k miles
Went for a haldex oil change plus pump (mesh filter) clean today and it wasn't as clogged up as I thought it would be. Thought I'd post this for reference/comparison purposes. 20900miles on clock.

Superb 2.0 TSi - 220 / 280 differnces?
The 220 is basically the golf gti engine and the 280 is the golf r engine. 220 uses smaller turbo has a few different engine internals so although you can map it to about 280hp, you can map the 280 to 350hp or more. Just get the 280 4x4 unless you have a loyalty scheme with a tyre shop (wheelspin!)

Picking up L&K 280
You don't have the 7th gear but you'll have port injectors and exhaust flaps. Bonus! Enjoy the car!
