Rusty scratch.
I would take it to a local body shop to be repaired correctly ,dont think it would cost to much ,better than a home bodge job that dont match 👍

VRS TSI estate economy
Best ive had out of my vrs tsi estate is 42 mpg on a long run normal driving ,drive it at 90 mph your back in just over mid 30s ,regardless of what mode your car is in ive never found its made a difference ,if you drive it hard it will need more fuel.

Anything to look out for? And should 3rd and 4th be notchy?
Mines a petrol vrs and the gearbox is smooth through all gears no notchiness at all ,as for the steering i set mine to individual and have all set to sport apart from the silly engine growl in the cabin ,it slighly weights up the steering ,but most electronic steering is rather lifeless .

Looking to buy a vrs estate
Had my tsi220 for four years now never missed a beat ,going off your milage petrol would be your best bet ,as for the tsi prefering super unleaded its not true ,i used to run mine on it but then started using e10 ,it made zero difference to the car performance wise car was just as lively ,mebbe lost a mile or two to the gallon on a long run but you dont really buy a vrs if fuel efficiency worries you .
