  1. I did look at Auto doc. There is not a VRS estate listed in their drop down menu & they don't reply to e-mail's or return message's left on their answer phone. And if put my vin in they say no such car. Seems they do not want my dosh
  2. I know its gone of topic a bit but the only disks ive ever had skimmed was off a Porsche as the cost off new ones was stupid and that was 30 years back. Can anyone tell me where I can get 340mm disks that are ATE as factory fitted to my VRS please ?
  3. I I have 1 but its dsg. Just coming up to 114k, Only thing its needed so far is rear disks & a turbo both at 100k . Its going to need Front disks and an off side front wheel bearing soon as the bearing has just started to growl. Nothing else apart from its started to leak into the car & its NOT the sunroof. May be the door seals as they have a known fault or the scuttle. When it stop's raining I will have a look Best every day car ive had apart from 40mpg but I do boot it. If an error comes up find out what it is, a reader is only £25 and could be the best £25 you have spent. If they want to sell it they will let you plug it in, only takes 10 mins to read any codes stored.
  4. nothing about the V12 Just wiring to the ign system, alternator, starter. 1 petrol pipe for 4 carburetter's. I open the bonnet on my VRS scratch my arse & close it. Even paid a garage to change a turbo last year, 1st time ive ever paid a garage to do anything ever & im 78 now
  5. The last engine I rebuilt was a Jaguar V12 and was a piece of **** compared to that TDi lump. Good Effort !!!
  6. In the old days it was condom's in there 🥰
  7. I would have thought that all the glass would drop to the bottom when its closed, so i vacuum cleaner in the boot with the hatch 1/2 opened should do it with the trim off. I have a pipe with a shovel type of end that gets down the side off my VRS seats and will get into most places. Perhaps a small well trained child?
  8. I have the same noise but it does get just a bit worse on left hand bends so leading me to think its the R/H front bearing. Going down hill coasting its no worse so to my way of thinking it cant be the diff with no load on it, There is no play in either off the right hand bearing's so will have to wait till it gets worse. The 1st Octavia I ever drove was a mates for me to just try before I got one. His was awful with a really loud off-side front bearing on left handers. I said you need to change that so he said how do you know? I jacked it up and there was a huge amount of play in the wheel.
  9. Nice to get an update and a good conclusion. I had a steering angle sensor low voltage code come up, C1144602. cleaned the contacts on the rack cured Wish they were all that simple
  10. I hate to say this but mine has never leaked despite living in Snowdonia. No doubt it will start now but I do clean the drains every year. It has started to not close the last few mm, I did not want to clean and service the runners till it warms up a bit. I found out in the manual that you can overrun the safety system by tilting (front to back) the operating knob in the roof console.
  11. Just crack open the joint slowly with a cloth over it to catch any spurts. Don't have to tell you not to have a lit fag around do I or hot light bulbs. The support is there for a reason, VW not known for fitting parts that don't do anything.
  12. Have a look at the link in this thread re the guy changing a Matrix in an hour. Most garages will do it for a decent cost as long as its not a VW or Skoda one
  13. I would have a chat with my local taxi drivers (they all drive Skodas) and see if they can point you in the direction of a good independent locally to you 1st
  14. 6 sided socket, long extension. turn engine over by hand till it's against the floor or something hard like subframe. Remove HT leads and give it a nudge with the starter. Has worked for over 40 years & never ever failed.
  15. Why do people use WD40 when its Water Dispenser Formula no 40. Its useless as a penetrating fluid Plusgas every time.
  16. mines working ok but does not light up, is there a replaceable bulb in there? sorry for thread drift
  17. I felt like that then the turbo vanes started to stick at 108K Put up with it for a bit but just fitted a turbo at 112K
  18. Ring euro car parts with reg & engine type & they will tell you when they quote.
  19. while on this topic how do you disconnect the glass from the lifting gear? Any link's would be usefull please
  20. The easiest door ever to take off, just undo the very small hex headed screws going into the 2 hinge pins. Lift the slider that locks the wiring plug in & disconnect then just lift off the hinge's. No need to adjust anything when putting it back as long as you don't undo the hinge mounting bolts.
  21. Its not easy to get out. I took the turbo heat shield off & used a 3/8 drive long 17mm socket with a long section cut out the whole length of it to get over the solid metal part of the wiring connector... its the 1 with the 2 pin brown connector, 04L906088NG9 that's what's stamped on my old one I got one from e-bay German car parts with the code 0000103870 Worked great was around £40 I think Last year
  22. its got a sound generator under the black plastic cover between the wiper arms. You can do a search on how to disconnect it. Im crap at finding things and Internet in general as you can see from my reply above
