ECU problems or not?
I dont think you can fit an ECU from another car without immobiliser problems, I bought a remapped one from an Ebay seller but he had done a hack to disable the immobiliser to make it plug n play. The immobiliser is another possibility for your problems, its located in the instrument binnacle and communicates with the ECU, dry joints have caused starting problems. I really think now is the time that you should get someone with VCDS to scan your vehicle which if it doesn't indicate exactly what the problem is will point you in the right direction.

No dedicated HVAC controls
Words fail me đ The Sunday Times has learnt that the Advertising Standards Authority is investigating a television advert for Vauxhallâs new Corsa, which showed a female driver swerving her car after she was seen trying to use an app on the carâs 7in screen. Vauxhall is one of more than 40 manufacturers that have systems linked to Appleâs CarPlay, which allows drivers to access compatible apps and dictate text messages. The authority is investigating whether the advert, which appeared this year, condones or encourages âdangerousâ or âirresponsibleâ driving. Gary Rae, campaigns director for Brake, a road safety charity, said the advert was âirresponsible in the extremeâ. Vauxhall said the ad had been approved by Clearcast, which was set up by broadcasters to vet commercials, âas it demonstrated the safety aspects of Apple CarPlayâ I scream out with rage when I see many of the car adverts aimed at the younger generation who never want to see anything other than the screens of their smartphones, driving around a city sending text messages to another vehicle being driven by another idiot doing the same.

The discs are incorrect. They may have sent you the wrong ones for your vehicle or they may be incorrectly manufactured and outside of the manufacturers tolerance, given that they are visibly larger in diameter I would say the latter. Do you have the PR code for the front brakes fitted to your vehicle? Do not attempt to drive the vehicle under any circumstances.

Right hand drive estate thinks it's a left hand drive Audi
These cars develop frustrating electronic issues at any time especially at the age yours is, I would not want to be repairning cars for people any more as these days its commonplace to look to implicate someone else for plain & simple misfortune. I agree about staying away from the main dealers for these sort of issues, I would extend that to Kwikfit type places as well, find a good independant that specialises in VAG.

Do they have to plug into the OBD socket to retrieve fault codes or was that something I read to be introduced at a future date? On the face of it tyre changes and an MOT test could not be responsable for the issues that you are suffering, it sounds like a corruption of the can gateway module or a communications error. I once had a customer phone to complain that I had serviced his car 6 months earlier and now he finds out that his daughter is pregnant đŻ Buy one get one free

You wrote it absolutely correctly, you could not have been more clear. Some people see what they want to see.

Octavia front and rear badges.
I just ordered one from AliExpress, âŹ8.25 delivered, choice of colours and finishes and the pictures show the locating peg positions, I think they are only on the 80mm badges.

Grinding noise from (mainly) offside rear
Put your hand behind the wheel and try to move the backplate to rule out corrosion or fracture. Stones can cause some weird noises, I have had what I am sure was one making a scraping screeching at low speed but only forwards, heard it in a French motorway services 100 miles from home, had dissapeared when I inspected the next day.

I leave you to make your choice whether to use a space saver spare on your Yeti, you have heard all the warnings from the others, I chose to do so because I have to be autonomous here and have the means to get my vehicle to a place of safety for a proper tyre repair or replacement, I only carry the wheel when I am going on a long journey, breakdown recovery to home insurance not existing here. If you do decide to use one then you must do your research to find one that will be the right diameter and has a suitable weight limit, the VAG OE space savers have rims thicker than tank armour and the tyre rubber is thicker than a forklift, you would not believe the weight, twice that of a normal rim & tyre. My Yeti has 215/60 R16 99H tyres, the only space saver I could find of the correct diameter was a Continental T125/70R18 99M, it has the identical weight limit of 775kg as the standard tyres. It has to be inflated to 4.2 bar đŻ In an emergency situation with a puncture in an endroit where its not safe for me to repair the tyre (I carry a tyre plug kit + a mushroom plug kit) then I am not going to risk my life and that of other road users for the lack of a homologation certificate but neither would I want to drive on a 16" space saver that Abdul says is suitable for my vehicle without even giving the tyre size. If you are going to do it then start by finding the diameter and weight limit of your tyres and research a space saver as close to it as you can get and if you use it drive slowly to a place of safety and no more. I hope I never get to use mine, its never been used on the road.

Removed and refitted wheel now really stiff and won't move!
Having no short term memory and being blind to the left side I do it pretty much everytime I work on one of my cars (sloping drive) the first time my reaction was just like the OP's, now I know immediately whats up.

Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
That sounds like me 10 years ago, I had 4 weeks from the first few running paces I had done for 35 years and gave myself what I believed to be the impossible target of the local 5km race in September, it may have been 6 weeks my memory is hazy, its unimportant. Soon I was running 5km and thinking about possibly trying the 10km race, my docteur said definitely not which was all the encouragement that I needed! Not long after I found that I could actually run 10km albeit with some stopping but 5km by then was relatively easy. I signed up for the half marathon, my target time was 2 hrs 40 minutes and I did it in I think 2 hours 20 minutes and the time dropped each year after that. I am up to 12k again but with several stops, a half marathon seems like a dream at present. Your 6 week thing will be a good time to review my progress, I just hope that it gets back to feeling normal again because its hell at the moment but I have the mental knowledge that it will be better, the last time I started from scratch again was after sepsis, I was very weak but still an athletic weight, its the 10kg that is holding me back. Sleep is very very important and good quality sleep as well, if you buy a runners watch or any fitness watch it will monitor your sleep time and more importantly how many hours deep sleep and how many light REM sleep. I knew that I had not been sleeping well since the confinement, the isolation and also the money concerns, since I have finally got the government support and know that it will continue till the end of the year I am sleeping much better, last night I got 4.5 hours deep sleep as opposed to 1.5-2hrs normally and I can always feel the results the next day, any injuries aches & pains just dissapear whereas they linger and get worse when sleep is not good. Editted, so much for the 6 weeks, its been 11 weeks since I restarted đ Maybe I should count the 6 weeks from when I got my mind straight and my mojo back in which case its only been 2 weeks!

Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
I am looking forward to the inspiration Mac. I will tell you a little bit about my story because at present I have found myself back at the position that you are. I could never run at school, we had to do a 5km mob race once a year and I was petrified of it and walked most of it. At about 20 I tried it again with a pal and didnt do much better At 26 I tried jogging around my house in the UK and managed about 30 yards before becoming exhausted, I never did any more than jog a few steps after that. As the years piled on so did the weight. Then 10 years ago at 51 I was invited to a free stay in boot camp starting out in France, I did so well that they invited me back on 2 more occasions, I started running, doing aerobics classes, swimming, cycling and eating healthily, I also gave up alcohol for good at the same time which was probably the most significant event. I have been running with local running clubs for 10 years and in competition up to half marathons, my best time was 1hr 50 on our local vertiginous very hilly half marathon, during that period my weight was always at 71.6kg +/- 0.5kg, I am 5' 8" tall. Last year I started training for a full marathon for my 60th birthday, I suffered a plantar fasciitus injury and because I carried on training it progressed to a knee injury (called the windscreen wiper syndrome in France) and then a hip injury. I managed up to 32km in training but on the day the knee injury stopped me after about 25km and I joined the other cripples in the recovery wagon. After that I gained maybe 4kg last year for the first time. I stopped training when I returned to the UK to redo my house last November, in January I had an eye operation which was a disaster resulting in yet another detached retina (the 5th) then surgery for that in France in February, then I had to lay on my front for a month and make no efforts and no running for 3 months which I complied with. Then came the confinement, I did a couple of runs alone but it was really hard so I cycled, with the loss of all my apartment rentals I dont do anywhere near the physical work that I did, my average calorie expenditure was 4500 per day before with all the cleaning and changeovers plus the running, it dropped to 2200 on my most sedentary days. The result is that I am 10kg heavier than the last 10 years, training has started with the running club and I am doing about 30km a week but its really hard, I have gone from being one of the fastest runners, quicker than most up to 30 years younger than me to being one of the slowest, in the past after a 2 month break my VMA (max aerobic speed) dropped by 30% but quickly recovered, this time its very different and will be a long slog. I look forward to hearing of your progress and may chip in from time to time with mine.

TDi Tuning box
To be fair its much closer to the claimed figure than I would have expected than anything be it box or remap from any company, they all exaggerate and if you dont join in then you wont get the sales. A rolling road will never be accurate enough to give accurate readings, an engine dyno would be needed, as the baseline figures were less than the manufacturers ones (& they cheat as well!) then I would say the power gain is what was advertised.

Thanks for the update, look forward to hearing what its like to drive, if you can feel any difference between the settings under normal part throttle operation, also if it does not throw up fault codes.
