  1. Interesting. Mine did the same over a broadly similar time period. Could it be related to OTA software updates I wonder?
  2. Took mine into the dealers and apparently "it needs a new steering wheel" - which of course is on back order. Strangely it has reduced in frequency over the last couple of weeks (but is 100% still happening and connected to the steering in some way shape of form). I can sometimes toggle the alert on and off by banging the wheel at 6 o'clock. Also by turning it enthusiastically
  3. I'm pretty certain this has been discussed before and the answer is "you can't". Sorry!
  4. I said this would happen when they were first introduced. It's more than likely cheaper to provide the VC than the analogue dials. A bit like digital watches. The first batch were expensive new tech that were shown off in jewelry stores. Now you can get them for a fiver on the market.
  5. Government has to replace lost fuel duty with the electrics some way. Slight tangent but a bit like inheritance tax and stamp duty. Originally brought in to tax the (VERY) rich, now almost everyone pays. Horrible, unfair and insidious taxes. In a similar way over time, the vast majority of motorists will be paying the "Luxury" car tax premium. Skoda realise that compared to competitors, the Kodiaq was a bit of a bargain. They bumped up the price accordingly. Now it's not so much of a bargain, but it's still competitive. When I chose the Kodiaq I compared it to the Allspace and Tarraco and for me it was the best out of those 3 (irrespective of the price). In fact for my purposes (and I appreciate it's just me), apart from those 3 (and the Honda CRV as an outliner) there were not many options. (Smallish petrol SUV with lot's of space). To your point though about it losing it's mojo, then in terms of clear daylight value for money between it and it's competition, I would tend to agree.
  6. Personally I believe diesels are the spawn of Satan. Horrible clanking thudding things. Noisy dirty and clog up if you don't do the miles. That said, if you can live with the above, go for it! I have a 1.5tsi and 99% of the time it does the job.
  7. Don't get me started on main dealer servicing. I must have saved £20k over the years by not taking them up on their "recommendations". My favourite was a water pump issue that they diagnosed and wanted hundreds of pounds for. I fixed it for under £2.
  8. I too went from a Superb to a Kodiaq. Imo the build quality on the Superb was better, but plenty disagree. The Kodiaq has slightly less legroom than the Superb, though both are fine for me (6'3") Arguably the Superb is better VFM. Lots of things that were std on the Superb are costly addons. The Kodiaq is easier to get into and more practical. Superb offers better mpg like for like - in my case around 8mpg better. In terms of your addons then it's all really personal. No-one can tell you what they are worth. I would argue the fatigue sensor is the exception. It's only £50 or so and it could save your iife.
  9. Anyone else getting this very annoying message/beep 4 or 5 times per trip? Asked the dealer to look into it at a recent service but strangely they couldn't replicate it. Though it has occurred on every trip I've had in the last 2 months. A bit of googling tells me that it is related to the steering wheel, and a quick hit does make the warning disappear (but too late for the beep!) Anyone else had this issue?
  10. The real benefit of a PCP as I see it, is that it gives you the option of handing the car back after 3 years, with no hassle of selling it, or paying the balloon payment and keeping a car that you know the history of. The loan interest is the price of this flexibility. I normally pay for cars in cash. I have had 2 PCP's. The first one I paid off within a week, (old habits), the second I continue to pay the monthly charges on the basis of the above. I fully intend to pay off the car, but the PCP gives me flexibility.
  11. Sounds about right. It was the travel assist I was talking about.
  12. Yes. I think the limit is around 15mph or something like that
  13. The lines put me off. Other half had a Ford with a heated windscreen and I could see the wires inside. Very annoying. Maybe they have improved on them now?
  14. I'm on my second Kodiaq now and this time I did go for the Travel Assist. I actually use it virtually all the. time, even around the streets and find it quite helpful. (Much to my surprise as I thought I wouldn't but there you go). Never had the "Orange" lines. It's either white lines when it hasn't found the lane markings, or green when it has. Car is a year old.
  15. I replaced my Kodiaq.....with another Kodiaq. Went into the search with an open mind and it came out top again. When the children get older I may well have to get a larger car but for the moment the Kodiaq is the best option.
  16. Not internet radio, but the DAB reception on both Kodiaqs I have owned is shocking.
  17. Lost track of the times my boot has mysteriously opened by itself. I can only presume I have accidentally hit the open key. Would love to disable it but no idea how.
  18. Update: For those interested (those who aren't can always skip!) After lot's of testing/fiddling/swapping, I have finished on the "fridge in the boot" experiment. Fundamentally if you want a fridge in the boot, then it's highly unlikely you are going to charge it full time, automatically from the 12v socket. It just takes too much driving to achieve this. So you are then left with the option of using some form of battery, charged externally to power the fridge. A reasonably efficient 12v compressor fridge will take around 200wh of power each day, depending on how hot it is and how well ventilated the fridge is. To be honest the boot of a car is close to the worse place to store one! So there you go. You could buy an external power supply with around 400wh for £300-£400 and, you would need to recharge it every 2 days or so to enjoy ice cold drinks on a hot day from your car. Or spend around £1000-£1500 or so for a 2000wh power supply and recharge the battery every 10 days or so. Add in the cost of the fridge and you are looking at £2k for the privilege. Is that worth it? Over the lifetime of a car probably not. Over the lifetime of 3 or 4 cars......maybe.
  19. Ahhh I see! . Nope, I honestly posted the same months ago (though sadly can't predict the lottery in the same way) It reminded me of when the first digital watches went on sale. They commanded a bit of a price premium vs "normal" watches as the tech was new, they had added functionality like playing a tune when the alarm went off! Didn't take long before they dropped prices quickly. It stands to reason that there are more moving parts in the "std" dash and replacing it with one that relies on software rather then hardware would be cheaper, and that's before scale economies of having it in every car kick in. Let the early adopters pay a premium for it, establish the "price", then use that as a justification for a price rise in the next year, when in fact their costs are going down for this particular piece of equipment.
  20. Why, has something been announced? I did say the same about 6 months or so ago irrc.
  21. I'm happy to say nothing. I love ACC and Lane Assist, so much easier for drives. I would happily give up heated front seats as never use them, but had no choice as they came as std. Blinds in the back are great for the kids. Didn't opt for the virtual cockpit as the "std" one gives me everything I need and nothing I don't. I still maintain that the virtual cockpit is cheaper for Skoda and soon will be on all cars, no option. Sometimes I wish I had gone for a towbar as the bike rack would have been easier, but that is only 10% of the time. The other 90% I think that it looks crap and I can manage with roof racks for the bikes for the £££ saved. Overall very happy with my choices 7 months on.
  22. Just come off a motorway run and had 45mpg.
  23. You should definitely turn off PACC. At best it's annoying, at worst it's dangerous. TA also has traffic jam assist which is quite useful (if you have the auto). I have gotten used to lane keeping now. In fact the car can virtually drive itself when used with ACC too. The one exception is when the bends get "too much" for the lane keeping to handle.
  24. my update now done. So looks like it does fix itself (eventually)
  25. Complete nonsense to argue that one car is better looking than another. Purely subjective and everybody's view is equally good/bad. Personally, out of all the Tiguan's , the R version is nicer. However, I still prefer the Kodiaq to the vast number, if not all the SUV's out there. Just my opinion.
