  1. Excellent! Good to see deliveries are happening.........
  2. That's quite harsh. I can think of several reasons why regular updates are useful. 1. You may be selling your existing car and need to get an idea of when you are able to. 2. You may be planning a holiday that requires the new car 3. You may be deciding to cancel if the car is not here by X date Etc etc I find myself in a fortunate position that I don't have to sell my car until the new one arrives. There are others who are in a different position. Even so, it's "nice" to be kept updated about the status of my order. Not essential, but nice.
  3. Not quite. More expensive cars are more likely to be "prioritised" by car manufacturers for two reasons. 1. They make more money on them 2. In absolute terms they help cashflow (as irrespective of point 1 above, by definition selling them means more money into the company) The argument to the counter is that, generally speaking, more expensive cars need more chips (but incrementally not more to offset 1 and 2 above). In terms of Skoda, I would think that, given the above, the Kodiaq would be prioritised. I wouldn't want to be waiting on an Octavia at the moment.
  4. A bit small for me. Maybe in 3-5 years when they have improved range and make bigger electric cars.
  5. The only two things I would be interested in are : 1. Checking that the doors are locked 2. Starting the heating up remotely in winter. Given 2. isn't available in the UK, I'll live without.
  6. Imo a Kodiaq is a large Estate car, not a 4x4 so it's a no from me! Each to their own though.
  7. Stacks up with what I have been told. My car is part built, but they are "getting through the backlog and releasing cars".
  8. Have to say I am surprised by Skoda. They are normally one of the better car manufacturers to deal with, but my experience is the same. Hopefully normal service will soon be resumed.
  9. Yes they are. They are also looking at the types of chip that they are buying. Currently they order very basic chips- a move to more "up to date" chips would help supply as the manufacturers don't have to focus on the older chips.
  10. Latest on a July order that had a provisional build last week. "No build date available".
  11. Instant summary execution is what is needed.
  12. Wow. Cambelt at 50k? Ridiculous.
  13. VW's Skoda to halt Czech plants for a week due to chip shortage | Reuters Latest.
  14. Sounds about right. They are probably doing them in batches depending upon spec.
  15. So here is the current situation from the dealer (which I think makes a lot of sense and is backed up by other posts on here). Build weeks seem to be confirmed for orders from July and back. It's likely that the car will be built broadly to schedule (with a slight delay). However, it will then sit "partially built" waiting for the al important semiconductors. This could be as little as a couple of weeks, or as long as 3 months. The truth is nobody knows. Add on delivery to this and realistically we are looking at 1-4 months AFTER the production date for delivery. I suspect this is why some orders later than July haven't yet been accepted by the factory as there is presumably only so much room/willingness to store the partially made cars.
  16. Mine has still got an "unconfirmed" build date in a couple of weeks. Suspect they are building batches dependent upon the specific trims and will only decide nearer the time.
  17. Not even a provisional one?
  18. ^ June by the above calculations
  19. New cars don't need to be "run in" as such engine wise in the same way that they used to. However, it's still a sensible precaution to drive "conservatively" for the first 500 miles or so. As stated above, this will give everything time to bed in. In all probability 99 times out of 100 there will be no difference. But you don't want to be that 1%!
  20. In fairness this is why used car prices are so high. If you listen to the news all the car manufacturers are in the same boat. I'm glad i'm not in any rush, but sympathise with those who are.
  21. Can I ask what % of the price they quoted you, you actually received. I will probably be using a similar service when my new Kodiaq is ready.
  22. May end up in the same production run as mine. (Currently provisional end Sep)
  23. Slight side issue. I hadn't realised my car had this. It does work but only when the lights are on. As I normally have them set to "auto" it never comes on!
