  1. I think I read some time back that the new Kodiaqs had this removed (utterly ridiculous imo but there you go). I "think" it was rumoured to be taken from the main glovebox and the small one on the drivers side. Can someone with a facelift confirm? If it's gone, it looks like it will be DIY time..........
  2. They are getting through the backlog, but the order in which they are doing so seems random based on a lucky dip of spec and colour.
  3. Do these actually do anything? There is no "wiper" so it just sprays a bit of water on the headlamps? Waste of time imo.
  4. There was absolutely no sarcasm in my post. I was surprised at the 75kg limit, but was taking your word for it, and on that basis the logic was that the Kodiaq wasn't suitable for a roof tent.
  5. Really? So no tent on top for the Kodiaq then.
  6. I am now told that there is a backlog at Emden.... Finding this hard to believe as surely the numbers are lower, but there you go.
  7. I have to say I am experiencing a very different level of customer service this time around compared to last. My previous dealer kept me informed at every stage of the delivery process, enabling me to do everything I needed to do in good time. e.g. Car at port, car on boat, car at our dealership etc This time around I have heard zero. Just "car has been made and delivery expected around this week". Ultimately you could argue it doesn't matter as it has zero impact on the delivery time, but annoyingly there are quite a few steps I need to do to get ready this time around, and being kept in the delivery loop would actually make my life easier. Guess it actually shows a value of (some) dealers.
  8. It's ALWAYS about the TCO (Total cost of ownership). PCP was a godsend to the industry as it effectively allowed people to pay lower monthly amounts for a new car, and importantly, to continue to do so after the end of the 3 year period with minimal extra outlay. The elephant in the room that many people don't understand is that when the music stops, there is little to no equity in the car. Effectively PCP (without the final purchase) is glorified renting. So you are right. A £48k car will always be more expensive than a £32k car. That extra £16k WILL be a cost to the buyer (either explicitly or implicitly). You are also right about the inflated price of cars these days. Madness (although they can be reduced with sensible shopping around).
  9. Hmm If my car does arrive in the next few weeks I will consider myself lucky then. Looks like used prices are going to be high until next summer at this rate.
  10. Yes they have confirmed that. However, part of me thinks that they might not have added all the extra's I requested. We will see.
  11. There really does seem to be no logic to the deliveries. Looks like it's pot luck depending on the spec. I'm told mine should be with me in 3 weeks or so, but until I actually see the car in the correct spec that I ordered I am far from optimistic.
  12. SEL std wheels used to be Sirius, with Triglav as a no cost option. Satnav is standard I thought, but on the Admunsen not the Columbus (as it used to be). As a current owner of the Columbus I consider the buttons on the Admunsen to be an upgrade!
  13. It has. Penny pinching like replacing the safety lights in the doors with reflectors and removing the carpet in gloveboxes is ridiculous. The wheels that were standard on the SEL 2 years ago are now only available on the L&K. That said you can't blame the VAG group for making changes. The price/spec/brand offerings were all over the place. When I was looking 3 years back the price was SEAT>VW>SKODA (but by a very small margin for all of them) Quality was SKODA>VW>SEAT
  14. Just done exactly the same thing with mine. It's a brilliant all round car. That's why I am in the process of replacing it with another Kodiaq.
  15. That was a "slight" concern of mine too. Personally I think it will be March/April before we see any softening of used car prices, and that's not guaranteed.
  16. I arrived at my current Kodiaq by testing/researching a lot of cars. I was fortunate for the purchase price not to be an issue (provided it wasn't a Bentley!) so was able to test the cars for what they were/were able to do. Ultimately I was looking for a Petrol SUV that was large/powerful enough for my needs without going over the top. I decided that "full sized" SUVs were too big for me (at the moment) and therefore Q7,X5,V90 etc were out. It was the VAG group of cars Kodiaq/Tiguan/Taracco with the 1.5 engine that suited me (although I nearly went for a Sorento). Of those 3 the Kodiaq offered more space/better equipment (imo)/ and was better built. It was a no brainer. The Q5/V60/X3 are all smaller cars and therefore never came into the decision.
  17. Shhhh! No you are right, the Volvo's, and pretty much any other car is way better than a Skoda! The last thing we need are people realising this and pushing up the prices of Skodas!
  18. My car has been built and is on it's way. Looks like the 2 week shutdown was designed to finish off partially built cars.
  19. Correct. The GPS does work, all you need to do is tick/untick the box!
  20. Sorry but this is the type of sour faced nonsense that is destroying this country. Can't cough thesedays without someone taking offence, somewhere. L1V FC MUS1C, DAV1D All "illegal" but fun. Send to the crusher? WTF? btw I have no idea what that Leeds numberplate is!
  21. I would agree with the exception that some "incorrect" spaced plates, as long as it's not too much, are clever and look great. L1V FC for a Liverpool fan for example (though obviously would mean limited parking options in Manchester! )
  22. I have no idea what that is trying to say.
  23. At the risk of drifting off topic, the wheel choice has gone downhill imo. I ordered an SEL and was unimpressed by all 3 options on the table. I opted for the crater alloys which hopefully look better in the flesh, but it was definitely a case of "least offensive" for me.
  24. In the right context they are a bit of fun, and ultimately if it gives the owner some satisfaction then that's all that matters. The "new(ish) spacing legislation killed off some genuinely clever and unique plates though. This was inevitable as some plates were just ridiculous in terms of there "alteration". There is a world of difference between the Liverpool football supporter who has L1V FC and the owner of JT 13 13 RC (or whatever). Sadly the 2nd group of owners spoiled it for the first.
