  1. What's the fascination everyone has with folding mirrors? I would like them, just to be able to have a look outside to see that my car is locked but that's it. I think I saw the green one you are on about in Stockport, I was having a nosey at it too as I'd decided I wanted a mk3 Octy (after my civic got pinched from around the corner from there)
  2. Nicer seats, better head unit, lights in the doors etc etc
  3. XDS is as much use as a chocolate teapot. Good tyres, alignment, rear arb (£160) and a strut brace (£90 - genuinely, it works! first car a strut brace has done anything at all) and it's great. obviously a diff would be the icing on the cake and once I get the JB4 on it might be more of an urgent upgrade for the boy racer inside me, but it's not gonna be worth the extra for a road car at all. If you can get a 230 for 2 to 3k less than a 245 it's a no brainer. Parts are dirt cheap too, even from the dealers.
  4. Definitely. I've put a full intake on mine, and bought a JB4 for it, so it'll be close to 300 after this. Not sure why I bought it though, it's quick and powerful enough as it is to be honest. Part of me thinks I should just leave it.
  5. I've got a FL 230 2017 and it's great. Would've rather got the 245 for the VAQ diff to be honest but I wasn't prepared to wait for prices to drop to a level that I could afford. I just about managed to afford a FL! Snapped this one up as soon as it came available. Winter pack, canton and alcantara extras. I've since done all the cosmetic stuff like black grille/mirrors, aftermarket 19s, etc etc so it looks the part now, Would I have paid another 3-4k for a commuter car to have an electronic diff? Nah, I'll get a proper mechanical diff at some stage for this one. Electric seats sound great, but how often do you actually adjust the seat!? It had to be a FL though, the PFL looks a bit plain now and the interior in a FL is miles nicer.
  6. how does it compare to the golf R? Obvs not as posh inside or quality materials and presumably less grip?
  7. Isn't that just android auto? Thats what I use with voice commanfds for google maps/spotify/whatsapp
  8. I got a facelift as the interior is so much nicer, it's newer and I find the styling of the PFL too plain. I like how the FL stands out a bit, as they're not the most exciting car styling wise, let's be honest! But that's kinda why I got the Octavia over a Cupra/GTi, already had one car pinched, wasn't a fun experience. 1. Every 12 months I believe 2. Mine's been replaced 2 times now under warranty - believe the pump was done by previous owner, but then the housing leaked slightly while I had it so had that done about 4 months ago 3. Not aware of any issues, this is a 3rd gen Ea888 so hopefully little issues like that all ironed out 4. As above 5. Defo worth getting winter pack (heated screen/seats) - they were a must for me. Also got the half leather/alcantara not cloth or the naff full leathers they do. Spare wheel kit I managed to blag later but the proper kit is £200 quid so worth bargaining in. I believe DCC is really good so that'd be great if can find one with it but seems rare. 6. I have the canton and it's ok, definitely wouldn't have paid a premium for it though, so dread to think what the non canton stereo sounds like! Also with it being a FL it has the bigger screen and nicer multimedia I general, I picked mine as they are a really reliable and proven engine in all sorts of different cars. So cheap parts, wealth of knowledge blah blah. Great on fuel for a 2.0T Has enough performance for road Came with warranty Loads of space in either hatch or estate (for baby stuff) Great seats and interior on the FL The other choices were: Cupra - would get stolen 308 Gti - rapid but expensive brakes, stupid fake sound that you can't turn off, still feels like a peugeot of old (flimsy), engine is a bit hit and miss reliability wise BMW 328i - quite rare it seemed so was hard to find and therefore would've been expensive to repair etc Golf GTi - out of my price range, also - would get robbed Think the Octavia is a brilliant all rounder, but I wouldn't say it's a performance car, it's more a sensible run of the mill, 'vanilla car' that has a great base for tuning potential if you want it and also in standard guise isn't boring like all other alternatives. The TSi is a bit of a Q car in that respect, exactly what I was after this time.
  9. Same, 2 buckets is overkill. I just have 1 big bucket with a grit guard and use a soft mitt and drying towel
  10. Anyone on here make these or know a guy who does? Really don't want to use that positap connector to be honest, looks a bit rough.
  11. Well I got the whole lot off darkside developments for 42 plus delivery, so could try them? I didn't use the plastic shifter cable adapter thing, just unclipped and used the existing one.
  12. Ah just googled part numbers and all makes sense Audi TT/S3 Short shift kit MQ350 - 8J0711046E (kit with end piece) - 8J0711051E (just the SS bracket)
  13. Well I got it fitted, it was an absolute doddle to change over. Didn't feel that much shorter to be honest but it's more noticeable on a drive. Isn't drastically shorter but does make it feel more precise and slick, Well worth 45 quid and 30 mins messing about on your drive. Looks almost completely OEM bar the Audi badge - should be warranty safe. Just noticed the varying part numbers on this thread and the one on the part below. So beware of that
  14. I've gone ahead and ordered the 8J0711046E from Darkside developments, £48 delivered. Will see how I get on.
  15. Ha, it is?
  16. Is this shorter than the oem mk3 then? advert seems to state its only the case for USA cars?
  17. Are these import only from USA? What other short shifter adaptor options are available (ones without blingy brand name scene tax)?
  18. Really doubt 16" will clear. 17" possibly. I've got the 18" kit to be safe (and OCD)
  19. Hi guys, I've read that the facelifted VRs has a 30mm (15mm a side) wider track on the rear? In which case, if I were to get a set of wheels in 18 x 8j et 42, this would equate to a 15mm wider track as a result. Would these be ok on a facelifted VRs (using 225 40 18 tyres and H&R springs?)
