  1. Either slave cylinder failed or check for the spring behind the pedal, make sure it didn't fall out. Where in North west?
  2. Creaking could be from anywhere. Top mounts maybe but you say they were just changed. Also wishbone bushes need lubricating and will creak. Also subframe moves under load but that's more of a click.
  3. GRIPES: Why no folding mirrors!? OEM suspension was awful - neither comfortable or sporty, just stuck in the middle Options list makes VAGs a bit of a pain to find/buy used in the perfect spec you'd like vs cost/availability POSITIVES: Easily fast enough (TSi cars) Loads of modifications/tuning options Masses of space (Relatively) Cheap running costs for a car of this performance Less common than the Golfs and (touch wood) less appealing to TWOCers - got a bit of a Q car appeal
  4. Mine got rejected straight away at 2 dealerships as it's got coilovers on. If you can get on it, it's a bargain. Don't forget it's tied to you and not the car so if you sell, it's still up to you to pay/cancel.
  5. Can't remember off the top of my head. Aks tuning is the main man for these, he's doing mine (golf r kit tho) and his site is up to date with prices
  6. Clutch is about 400 quid labour Rear main seal im getting is 95 plus 45 labour (half hr) New friction plate is about 400?
  7. Weirdly though it's not that common knowledge. I certainly didn't know about it until i watched a video of Regal fitting an LSD (I'm having a wavetrac fitted) that I noticed it then googled it. It might not even be that to be honest. I'd get onto Helix ASAP to make them aware but let them know you're going to investigate the RMS or other issues when it's off.
  8. I'd be surprised if Helix wouldn't want to be aware of this, if indeed its a fault of the clutch. As the garage said it may be the issue of the iffy RMS (they're a known weak seal on these cars) so if that's the case then sounds like you're gonna need a new friction plate. Having said that, if it was leaking badly I reckon the clutch would slip a lot more than just at peak torque. I'm getting a HELIX clutch fitted on mine next year as I've also got the OEM+ remap (340 bhp/380 ft lbs), but at the same time I'm having AKS fit the upgraded IaBed rear main seal while the flywheel is out.
  9. Racingline taxed to the max. if they were a carbon box or something then fair enough, the quality does not command a £400 price tag at all. I've gone for a pikey airbox mod with K&N, forge elbow and ramair hose. Cost less than half of the r600 box alone. Probably not as noisy as the OEM plastic is much thicker, but still made 339 bhp with a map and no other mods.
  10. Much smoother than the JB4 was (the JB4 is still a good option though), more responsive.
  11. I went for whatever was available as long as it wasn't black or grey. Spec was more important but I would've liked a red or blue ideally. Ended up with bog standard candy white (just realised this is Mk4 section! sorry! I'm 3.5)
  12. I'm not saying the Skoda is particularly bad, but it's not as good build feel as a VW that's for sure. Just wondered where Seat sat on the VAG quality scale compared to Skoda
  13. I mean I have a 3.5 octavia vrs 2017 and was considering a 2018/2019 Leon Cupra 290/300
  14. Cupra are lesser build quality to the octavia mk3? Was considering chopping my manual octy in for a cupra dsg
  15. I tried a set of used (OEM) second hand wheels and they wobbled too, despite being 'balanced'. Wasn't until I took it to a proper (decent) garage that I saw how badly they were all buckled. New rims and all good. OEM wheels are soft crap, see if you can try a set that are known to be fault free. I know that's not easy.
  16. OK, a 'proper place' that has decent standards then. A lot of folk will try and balance it out with weights. Doesn't take a lot - again some people won't be as fussy - I am. In my case it was 3 buckled wheels. 4 new wheels and 4 months of being shook about on the motorway came to an end.
  17. Mine turned out to be buckled. No matter how many times skoda 'balanced' them. Took them to a proper place with an accurate hunter wheel balancer and showed 3 were buckled. Oem wheels are crap
  18. Had this exact problem with mine. what wheels were/are on it? And what condition?
  19. No mate it was done by a bloke I use for my cars in Crewe, who used to be a trimmer at Bentley. Snappy is his forum 'name' on other forums, don't think he'll be on here.
  20. 495 grams, delrin outer cover with stainless steel core, in translucent red with brushed gear markings
  21. Don't seem to be many options for the VAG manuals. Boomba racing and Black forest industries seem to be the main known ones. Not keen on the design of those though so ended up getting a Raceseng as I'd ordered one for my other car too and they look great. Very easy to install. Shorter height, much chunkier and massively heavier than stock. Plus looks great too and aids shifts - not that it needed it TBH. Think the gearboxes in these MQB cars are really good (and I've had plenty of snickety manuals).
  22. They definitely are a hard car to pick wheels for. especially the FL as the front end seems to swallow them up. Have to be v low to pull a lot of them off
  23. Anyone gonr from an open diff to a proper LSD? Done it on other cars and it's a good mod. Wondering what it's like on these, they do seem to suffer from the usual VAG understeer to be honest. Isn't a cheap mod tho!
