  1. Motec ultralight? Look smart. What suspension too?
  2. Common theme with a lot of non genuine pads. They're often a tiny bit shorter and move up and down with the disc when braking! Drove me mad on my 3 series!
  3. Very common issue it seems. takes multiple flushes to get rid of the silica crap that's got into the matrix. Have a look at the octavia mk3 section, there's a lengthy thread here:
  4. At that mileage - definitely yes! Top mounts 100%, drop links if needed. Both are cheap anyway.
  5. Great result. you have to be fair to some dealers as on the flip side of the coin they might assume you'd remapped the car or messed with it, so many folk do so no it's fair to presume sometimes. you just don't know if previous owner has put some dodgy map or similar on it! Glad it got sorted anyway and sounds like a good dealer to stick with, to me.
  6. If you're staying on OEM shocks then yeah maybe go for a spring that doesn't drop as much as H&R - Eibach pro are your only choice really. It's not the springs that are crashy or bad, it's the compatibility of your shocks and springs. OEM setup isn't sure what it's doing in my opinion, it wants to be a soft sensible family car but also they've dropped the height from a normal Octavia and it also wants to be 'sporty'. It's neither in reality! Either swap the springs out for Eibach pro and lose the more aesthetically pleasing ride height, or keep the HR springs and get some decent shocks to pair up with them (Bilstein B8 or something). I've done HR springs and whiteline rear ARB - it does massively improve the car on turn in, in terms of less boaty pitch and roll, but the shocks are still letting the side down, so going to HR coilovers and front and rear H&R ARB's while it's up on the ramp. I'm under no illusion that it won't be as soft, but I can't stand the indecisive personality of the OEM suspension. I think B8's and HR springs would be the best bet, but I couldn't help think that for a few more quid I could get decent branded coilovers (TUV gepruft too!)
  7. Just done a steering wheel swap myself. It's dead straight forward. Ali express buttons - hope they work! But if theydon't I will have a set of oem buttons for sale soon. I've had to buy a complete wheel just for the lower trim! Going to sell the wheel on for someone who wants to retrim (like I've had done). Only thing to be aware of is to not leave your key in the ignition when disconnecting battery/airbag and reconnnecting otherwise it'll throw up a code that needs VCDS to clear. Taking the airbag off is easy, 2 clips at the back of the wheel. Taking all the trim etc off is also simple, screwdriver and bit of persuasion is all.
  8. So who's DIY fitted a new bottle at home? Is it a simple job or risk of getting air locks in system?
  9. So what are the options? Warrantied cars - leave it as is Non warranty cars - remove the bag or replace the coolant bottle with a non silika bottle (and use a different coolant?) Ta
  10. Tried the light, didn't have a wiggle will give it a go
  11. Mine says mit Silikat but I cant see a bag in the bottle.
  12. I've had the yellow one in at first then swapped it out for the red one. It is slightly better for sure. Won't eliminate wheel hop but does reduce it and the horrible banging noise when booting it. Tyre choice will have a big impact too.
  13. Also true. Which is why I went with H&R coilovers which are supposedly less stiff. H&R anti roll bars aren't crazy, aimed at fast road/light track use anyway (not full on racecar)
  14. yeah. I'm going the full coilover route so I've got the thickest bars on order too. If you were you stay on oem shocks then I guess you could say you'd either just get the rear done and keep original front, or a step up might be the 38851-2 (26/24). Maybe going 28/26 with standard suspension might be a bit ott? Not sure
  15. no -4 is 28f/26r -2 is 26f/24r Think there's another version for the 4x4, not sure
  16. I've just ordered the H&R 33851-4 kit now (28f/26r) as I'm fitting coilovers too. Why do H&R sell a kit that's 26f/24r (33851-2) as well? Why not just the 1 kit? IS 33851-4 better suited to coils and 33851-2 for shocks/springs setup? Will be flogging my whiteline kit in Jan (22mm adjustable rear)
  17. Cheers, yeah I've gone with H&R monotube in the end, cost a bit more but sounds like the rears don't need maxing out to get the arch sat on top of the tyre with H&R. Maxing the B14's out sounds like it'd be too firm.
  18. Anyone got these fitted? Gettonf very mixed reviews on them! Ordered a set in black friday sales (octavia VRS mk3.5 non dcc) as I find the oem shocks pretty useless to be honest. Even with hr springs and whiteline arb. Too crashy and vague. Some say the b14 are brill and some say they're really stiff. I don't mind stiff, I just don't want to be pinging around in my seat when driving to work etc. Ta

  20. Mine hadn't, ha. Had water pump and thermostat housing done at 25k (think twice in that mileage too - once by me). I've blagged another year warranty out of them cos I fully expect it to leak again.
  21. Just got these. Do the job spot on
  22. Sounds a bit big brother to me. Not for me. Although I like the ability to see if car's locked.
