  1. Is it this one (shown on "skoda eshop cz"), designed for the Superb MK3 2.0TSI with 200kW/206kW engines? 18" Spare Wheel Replacement Kit (this product is designed for Superb MK3 2.0TSI 200kW/206kW. This product is not intended for Superb iV hybrid vehicles) https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/sada-pro-vymenu-rezervniho-kola-18/p/3V0093860E If so, I don't know if there will be room for a full size spare...even a relatively narrow 215mm wide one. However, you would need somewhere to put the punctured 235/45R18 or 235/40R19 tyre...so maybe it would fit. Sometimes a 4x4 system can reduce the amount of space in the spare wheel well for a full size spare wheel.
  2. You would have to let all the air out. Even 1psi is going to push the sidewalls out. I don't know how keeping a spare tyre in the boot for years with no air (0 psi) would affect the long term health of the tyre.

autodoc lists 280mm and 305mm front brake discs for various models of Kia Niro. 15" wheels should clear 280mm front brake discs, and 16" wheels should clear 305mm front brake discs. So as 16" wheels are the smallest standard size on the Kia Niro, they should fit all models.

The link was to give an example of a 225/60R18 tyre, not to promote mytyres or any other tyre seller. I would have linked to camskill instead, but they aren't currently listing the latest Continental AllSeasonContact 2 in that tyre size.

Great idea. Adding 10mm to the standard 215/60R18 would solve the problem of non-available all season tyres. Not cheap though at about £150 each tyre. Continental AllSeasonContact 2 225/60R18 100H https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rshop/tyre/Continental/AllSeasonContact-2/225-60-R18-100H-EVc/D-127997 Outside diameter of tyre 215/60R18 715.2mm 225/60R18 727.2mm (+1.7% bigger outside diameter compared to 215/60R18)
  6. The Superb MK3 2.0TSI 200kW has 340x30mm front brake discs, so 16" wheel options won't fit. Some owners have increased the width of their tyre sizes by +10mm on the standard rims as follows. Some +10mm tyre sizes 225/55R17 7Jx17 ET40 245/45R18 8Jx18 ET44 245/40R19 8Jx19 ET44 Superb MK3 280HP 4x4 fitted with slightly oversize 245/45R18 tyres to the standard 8Jx18 ET44 rims
  7. I suggest you avoid Brembo brake pads with the 340x30mm front brake discs because many owners have reported noise problems over the years. The Octavia MK3 VRS pre-facelift has 340x30mm front brake discs and 272x10mm rear brake discs. The Octavia MK3 VRS petrol facelift has 340x30mm front brake discs and 310x22mm rear brake discs. The Octavia MK3 VRS diesel facelift has 312x25mm front brake discs and 272x10mm rear brake discs. Here's a complete list of TRW brake pads and ATE brake discs for the Octavia MK3. ATE brake discs have the superior coated finish whereas the TRW brake discs have the inferior painted finish. So ATE brake discs should be more resistant to corrosion than TRW brake discs. If you're looking for a cheaper aftermarket alternative, perhaps look at Jurid. Like ATE, Jurid use coated brake discs. Notice that there are two versions of the 253x10mm rear brake discs. One version is for the pre-facelift model and one version is for the facelift model. Surprisingly, both versions have the same build code 1KD even though these two different rear brake discs are not interchangeable. If the new Duster MK3 comes with 18" wheels I doubt the dealer would change them to 17" wheels. I asked for something similar on a new VAG car, but the dealer had no interest in swapping the wheels around. You had to accept delivery of the car with the wheels that it left the factory with. It's possible 17" wheels from the Nissan Qashqai 2021- would fit the Duster MK3, but you would have to check the specification especially the offset. I expect there's also alloy rims in this specification. The Nissan Qashqai (gen. III) 2021- uses the same 215/65R17 tyre size that the Duster MK3 uses. I hadn't replied because I wasn't sure what the tyre and rim specifications will be for the new Duster MK3. However, it's looking like they will be 215/65R17 and 215/60R18 so this reply assumes this to be the case. If the rim specification is similar to the old Duster, ie. ET50 5/114.3 66.1 then it should be possible to use non-standard 215/70R16 tyres on the old 16" rims...if high sidewalls are your thing. As you can see in the chart below, both the 215/70R16 and 215/60R18 tyre sizes have very similar outside diameters to the 215/65R17 tyre size, ie. so close that the difference is insignificant. Outside diameter of tyres 215/70R16 707.4mm (-0.5% compared to 215/65R17) 215/65R17 711.3mm 215/60R18 715.2mm (+0.5% compared to 215/65R17) Here's some examples of tyres in the 215/70R16 size. The below examples are all under £100 each (not including shipping), except for the Michelin which usually tends to be a bit more. 11. The Monte Carlo won't have the bigger front brakes if it's only got 95HP. There's nothing special mechanically about the Monte Carlo.
  12. You should be able to order the below hub caps from any VAG parts department, quoting the below OEM part numbers. 6U0601151L MHB (149CZK is about £5.22) (earlier design) https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/nahradni-stred-kola/p/6U0601151L+MHB 5E0601151 FOD (219CZK is about £7.67) (later design) https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/ozdobny-stred-kola-/p/5E0601151++FOD
  13. One thing you might have overlooked when comparing the Fabia MK3 1.0TSI with 95HP and 110HP engines is the size of the front brake discs, ie. the 110HP model has bigger front brake discs as shown in the chart below. So the mechanical differences aren't just limited to the 5 or 6 speed gearbox. Size of front brake discs Fabia MK3 1.0TSI 95HP 256x22mm Fabia MK3 1.0TSI 110HP 288x25mm

The 19" Kodiaq tyres are size 235/50R19. The outside diameter of this tyre size is far too big for the Superb MK3, as shown in the chart below. Outside diameter of tyre 235/40R19 670.6mm 235/50R19 717.6mm (7.0% bigger outside diameter compared to 235/40R19 Skoda do an alloy rim accessory catalogue. Prices are much lower (perhaps 60% less) than the normal prices. The below alloy rim is listed at 5459CZK (about £190.87). This is just one example, as there's a huge range of alloy rims in the Skoda alloy rim accessory catalogue. 7Jx17 ET40 5/112 57.1 alloy rim RATIKON (from Kodiaq) 565071497A 8Z8 https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/alu-kolo-ratikon-17-kodiaq/p/565071497A+8Z8 The alloy rims listed on "skoda eshop cz" are from the accessory catalogue. The 7Jx19 Kodiaq rims have an offset of ET43, so only 1mm different from the 8Jx19 ET44 Superb MK3 rims. 7J is too narrow for the standard Superb MK3 19" tyres, ie. 235/40R19, but you could use 225/45R19 instead. However, 225/45R19 would raise the gearing by 2.2% compared to 235/40R19. Here's an example of an UHP summer tyre in the 225/45R19 size. 17. Carlston replied to redphil's topic in Tyres & Wheels
19" Karoq alloys are 8J, not 7J. As you can see in the ETRTO chart below, a 235/40R19 officially needs at least an 8J rim width. ETRTO approved rim widths 235/40R19 8.0-8.5-9.5
  18. The 17" Karoq rim has a specification of 7Jx17 ET45 5/112 57.1 The 16" Octavia MK3 rim has a specification of 6.5Jx16 ET46 5/112 57.1 As you can see in the chart below, the outside diameter of the 205/55R16 tyre is 5.4% smaller than the outside diameter of the 215/55R17 tyre. This is quite a big difference. However, 205/55R16 is sometimes used as a spare on the Superb MK3 and that car also has a 215/55R17 tyre size. Notice that the 125/70R18 space saver tyre also has an outside diameter 5.4% smaller than 215/55R17. Notice also, that the 135/80R18 space saver tyre has almost the same outside diameter as the 215/55R17 tyre. Outside diameter of tyre 215/55R17 668.3mm 215/60R16 664.4mm 205/55R16 631.9mm (-5.4% smaller outside diameter than 215/55R17) 125/70R18 632.2mm (-5.4% smaller outside diameter than 215/55R17) 135/80R18 673.2mm (+0.7% bigger outside diameter than 215/55R17) A 135/80R18 space saver tyre could be fitted to the same space saver rim that the more common 125/70R18 space saver tyre uses. 135/80R18 space saver tyres https://www.camskill.co.uk/m129b0s7672p0/Temporary_Spare_Tyres_-_Space_Saver_Tyres_-_18_inch_R18_inch_-_135_80_18_135_80R18_R18_inch_-_135_18_135R18 6Jx16 ET43 5/112 57.1 steel rim (from Karoq) https://www.autodoc.co.uk/alcar/14750540?search=ALCAR+Rim+(6665)
  19. The 235/35R19 gives a little more protection from potholes and kerbing damage. Still not great though, compared to 225/45R17 fitted to a 7J rim width. Here's an example of a good all-season tyre that you might consider fitting to an Octavia MK3 VRS. Continental AllSeasonContact 2 225/45R17 94W XL (All-Season tyre) https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rshop/tyre/Continental/AllSeasonContact-2/225-45-R17-94W-XL-EVc/D-127991 Notice that the above 17" tyre is a lot cheaper than the far more expensive and less common 235/35R19 tyre size. Continental AllSeasonContact 2 235/35R19 91Y XL (All-Season tyre) https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rshop/tyre/Continental/AllSeasonContact-2/235-35-R19-91Y-XL-EVc/D-128033
  20. Spacers reduce the offset, so fitting 10mm spacers to rims that already have an ET33 offset gives an effective offset of ET23. The ET33 offset is already on the low side for the Yeti because it's a large 12mm difference to the standard ET45 offset. 215/65R16 and 235/60R16 both have just over 5.5" of sidewall height, which is quite a lot. Notice the different 70dB vs 72dB rating of the below two tyres. Yokohama Geolandar AT 215/65R16 98H (Euro label E C 70dB) https://www.camskill.co.uk/m62b0s426p148189/Yokohama_Tyres_Car_Yokohama_Geolandar_AT_G015_215_65_R16_98H_RPB_TL_Fuel_Eff_%3A_E_Wet_Grip%3A_C_NoiseClass%3A_B_Noise%3A_70dB Yokohama Geolandar AT 235/60R16 100H (Euro label E C 72dB) https://www.camskill.co.uk/m62b0s425p148190/Yokohama_Tyres_Car_Yokohama_Geolandar_AT_G015_235_60_R16_100H_RPB_TL_Fuel_Eff_%3A_E_Wet_Grip%3A_C_NoiseClass%3A_B_Noise%3A_72dB
  21. The standard 19" tyre size on the Octavia MK3 is 225/35R19, not 235/35R19...although those that have tried this 10mm wider size do appear to be happy with their choice. As you have the big 340x30mm front brake discs, the smallest rim size you can use is 17". So either 205/50R17 or 225/45R17 tyre size. For the 205/50R17 tyre size, you could use 6.5Jx17 ET38 5/112 57.1 steel rims from the Kodiaq. ET38 isn't a Skoda approved offset for the use with snow chains with this tyre size, but they should be ok if you're not going to use snow chains. ET45 and ET48 are the two approved offset for the use of snow chains with this tyre size. See the owner's manual for full details. Alcar 9021 6.5Jx17 ET38 5/112 57.1 steel rim (from Kodiaq) (11.58kg) https://www.autodoc.co.uk/alcar/14750807?search=ALCAR+Rim+(9021)
  22. 215/65R16 is normally fitted to a 6.5J rim width. If you are going to use a 7J rim, it might be better to use a 20mm wider 235/60R16 tyre size. Alcar 9922 steel rims have a specification of 6.5Jx16 ET33 which is 12mm less offset than the Yeti's normal ET45 offset. So the ET33 offset is equivalent to running the ET45 offset with 12mm spacers. Unless you want that spaced out look, ie. 24mm increase in track width, perhaps look at something within 7mm of the ET45 offset, ie. ET38 to ET45. Perhaps consider 235/60R16 fitted to the standard 7Jx16 ET45 rims. 235/60R16 has a similar outside diameter to 215/65R16 as shown in the chart below. 235/60R16 is an economical tyre size, but not quite as economical as the particularly good value 215/65R16 tyre size. Outside diameter of tyres 215/65R16 685.9mm 235/60R16 688.4mm Here's a couple of examples of 235/60R16 tyres. The Nokian Wetproof is an interesting example, due to its Aramid Sidewalls. 24. Did you fit top quality rear brake discs and brake pads? What make are they? New top quality ATE rear brake pads and rear brake discs for the Fabia MK3 1.2TSI 110HP are about £70, as you can see from the two links below. If the quality of the parts is in doubt, (and they probably are in doubt because the rear brakes squeak), then perhaps just fit new parts...but of better quality. You could pay a mechanic to fiddle about (ie. disassemble, clean everything, reassemble), but if that doesn't solve the squeaking it's money down the drain. The rear brakes on the Fabia MK3 1.2TSI is a TRW brake system, ie. that's who originally makes the rear brake calipers. However, TRW brake discs are painted not coated, so rust more easily than ATE brake discs which have the superior coated finish. 25. If you're looking at raising the front and rear suspension by 15mm (not including fitting bigger outside diameter tyres), then I expect you could get away with using the standard front and rear shock absorbers. I say "standard" shock absorbers, but the standard shock absorbers on the Yeti are similar to the increased ride height/off-road suspension on the Octavia MK2. There was one Briskoda member who did a similar thing to what you are after on his Octavia MK2 estate. Apparently, he wanted to use his car down deeply rutted mud tracks...hence his desperate need for more clearance than even an Octavia MK2 Scout offers. Perhaps search for his thread. He put a photo of the finished result. He might have used a Kodiaq front spring.
