Golf Mk6 rear pads shim/fitting kit
The shims are there to reduce brake noise. Many aftermarket brake pads don't include them because they are not noisy even without the shims. If your brakes aren't noisy without them, then you don't need them.

2019 Superb coil springs
If you do try 3Q0511115M rear springs, I suggest you measure the wire diameter before fitting. I've seen these 3Q0511115M springs listed on autodoc with three different thicknesses, 12.5mm, 12.75mm, and 13.0mm. Most were listed at 12.75mm. If they have a wire diameter of only 12.5mm it might be better to return them to the seller for a full refund and not fit them, as I wouldn't expect them to be stiffer than 3Q0511115AL just longer...perhaps around 6mm longer. So your rear end might be raised 6mm but the stiffness might be the same as the 3Q0511115AL springs. Unfortunately, Kilen and Lesjofors don't list the specification of their springs. The Eibach R21093 is the only 3Q0511115M rear spring listed with a claimed wire diameter of 13.0mm, so that one might be worth trying as it should be the stiffest 3Q0511115M spring if the claimed 13.0mm wire diameter is true. 3Q0511115M https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/3q0511115m?search=OEN 3Q0511115M

If your rear springs are currently 3Q0511115AL, then maybe try the next stiffness up in the hierarchy, ie. 3Q0511115M, as this is a relatively cheap and easy upgrade to try. This is because the VW Passat B8 equivalent tends to use slightly stiffer anti-roll bars compared to the Superb MK3. K8B means hatchback, K8D means estate. I suggest you change to 225/55R17 size tyres fitted to 7J rims or 245/45R18 fitted to 8J rims. That should help fill the wheelarch gap. With the significantly firmer springs, I would go with 225/55R17 rather than 245/45R18 due to the significantly improved ride that the higher sidewalled 17" tyres will give. This will allow flatter cornering due to the stiffer springs while maintaining a decent level of ride comfort. The narrower tyres will also be lighter which helps handling especially while driving round bumpy corners/bends in the road. You might also want to consider high quality shock absorbers such as Bilstein B6 to go with the stiffer springs. Most aftermarket springs and shock absorbers are aimed at standard ride height, so there's far more availability of parts by sticking to standard ride height. I'm not a fan of lowered cars. It makes the car look like the springs are sagging/broken and/or there's a couple of sacks of potatoes in the boot. It also compromises the suspension travel. The front springs in the "skoda parts catalogue" aren't labelled according to the ride height, however I suspect each front spring is specific to lower ride height or standard ride height or increased ride height. You can see the code 1JA in the chart above, which means that these are standard ride height springs. 0YD is a weight range 4 spring, 0YE is a weight range 5 spring, and 0YF is a weight range 6 spring. Notice that D corresponds to 4, E corresponds to 5, and 6 corresponds to 6. 3Q0511115N Eibach R21706 Kilen 65127 KYB RA5338 Lesjofors 4295137 https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/3q0511115n?search=OEN+3Q0511115N&supplier[0]=85&supplier[1]=112&supplier[2]=246&supplier[3]=85&supplier[4]=112&supplier[5]=246 You might also want to consider the Eibach R21093 rear spring because Eibach claims this has a wire diameter of 13.0mm whereas some of the other brands claim only 12.5mm or 12.75mm. This is sold to replace 3Q0511115M. However, because you often carry quite a bit of weight in the back of the car I would be inclined to go with the slightly stiffer 3Q0511115N rear springs. https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/3q0511115m?search=OEN+3Q0511115M&supplier[0]=112

New Tyres for Octavia VRS, slightly bigger on profile size??
Cars that fit staggered tyres, usually have a similar outside diameter. Even if the staggered tyres don't have the same outside diameter, the manufacturer would have programmed the car's electronics accordingly.

A 2008 Roomster 1.9TDI has 288x25mm front brake discs according to Jurid on autodoc. It's a TRW brake system. Later Roomsters from around 2011 used an ATE brake system when they were fitted with 288x25mm front brake discs. Do you have front brake pads with or without a wear indicator? Both types are available. You can check that you have 288mm front brake discs by measuring them. The only other Roomster size was 256mm, so it's easy to spot the difference. As you can see in the chart below, 5Q0411105GM is an L07 front spring. If you are finding the standard front springs too soft, then 5Q0411105GP might be a good choice. If you have a look on autodoc, you will see that 5Q0411105GM has a wire diameter of about 11.25mm whereas 5Q0411105GP has a wire diameter of about 11.75mm. This will make the front springs about 8.3% stiffer. Front ride height might be increased slightly, but only about 3mm higher if your current front springs are still in new condition, ie haven't started sagging yet. If you want to find the OEM part number for your rear springs, getting a copy of your car's build codes is a good place to start. There's an ebay seller who can supply the build codes for about 3 Euros. Search "skoda vin options" on ebay to find the listing.

New battery time, recommendations?
What's the physical size of the battery? It's probably 175mm wide and 190mm high, but do check. Then what is the length? This varies in increments of about 1.5" (38mm). So could be 242mm long (about 60Ah capacity), 278mm long (about 70Ah capacity), 317mm long (about 80Ah capacity), etc. What capacity is your current battery? The battery capacity should be labelled on the top of the battery. Varta are good car batteries. If you have stop/start, it's best to get an AGM battery as this will last longer than the cheaper type. Varta are suggesting it's the 278mm long (70Ah battery). Spare wheel issue
A 205/55R16 tyre isn't really a full size spare on the Superb MK3 because the outside diameter is much less than the standard tyre sizes (215/60R16, 215/55R17, 235/45R18) on the Superb MK3. It's a bit like if the dealer had supplied you with a full size spare from the Citigo. It may be a full size spare on the Citigo, but it certainly isn't a full size spare on the Superb MK3. However, the Citigo spare wheel wouldn't actually fit the Superb MK3 due to the difference in wheel bolt PCD, 4/100 vs 5/112.

Spare wheel issue
The "tread" width of a 205/55R16 tyre is much less than either the "nominal" width as shown on the tyre's sidewall, ie. 205, or the actual width which depends on the width of the rim that the tyre is fitted to. The 205/55R16 is just one example, but if you measure the "tread" width it is always much less than either the "nominal" width or the actual width of a tyre. You might find that the tread width of a 205/55R16 tyre is about 170mm, but it will certainly be nowhere near 205mm. To work out what will fit in the spare wheel well, you need the actual width of the tyre as measured from sidewall to sidewall (and measured at the widest point). Measuring the tread width won't help you find out if a tyre will fit in the spare wheel well. The tread width also depends on the aspect ratio. For example, the tread width of a 205/55 tyre is much wider than a 205/70 tyre. The tread width of both these tyre sizes is nowhere near 205mm. As you go down the below tyre sizes, the tread width becomes narrower because the tread width not only depends on the nominal sidewall to sidewall width (as shown on the tyre's sidewall), but also on the aspect ratio. Hence if you drove behind a car fitted with 205/40 tyres you would notice that this tyre size had a wider tread width than 205/70 tyres. All of these 205 tyre sizes, have a tread width much less than 205mm. 205/40 205/45 205/50 205/55 205/60 205/65 205/70

Spare wheel issue
The 6.5Jx16 ET46 rim fitted with a 205/55R16 tyre is actually from an Octavia MK3 and this tyre size has an outside diameter about 5% smaller than the standard Superb MK3 tyre sizes. The smell is the brake pads overheating as the car's electronics think that the wheel is spinning, so the electronics keep applying the brake on that wheel. You can check this by feeling if the metal rim on that wheel is becoming hot. The heat from that brake will be transferred to the metal rim (alloy rim or steel rim). Is there a button on the dash somewhere that you can press to temporarily disable these electronics while the temporary spare wheel is on the car, so that the brake on that wheel won't be repeatedly applied? It would have been better if Skoda had used a 6Jx16 ET43 rim fitted with a 215/60R16 tyre from the Karoq as a spare wheel as that should fit in the spare wheel well with the carpet flush, and not cause the electronics any problems because 215/60R16 is a standard Superb MK3 tyre size. So for the 215/60R16 tyre size, the Superb MK3 uses a 6.5Jx16 ET41 rim whereas the Karoq uses a 6Jx16 ET43 rim. As you can see in the below chart, the actual width of a 205/55R16 tyre fitted to a 6.5J rim is about 214mm which is about the same as a 215/60R16 tyre fitted to a 6J rim. The widest tyre that will fit in the Superb MK3 spare wheel well with the carpet flush is about 215mm (actual width not "nominal" width), so the 215/60R16 tyre fitted to a 6.5J rim is too wide at about 221mm. Notice that the tyre width as indicated on the tyre's sidewall is the "nominal" width and not the actual width of the tyre which varies depending on the rim width that the tyre is fitted to. Actual tyre width measured from sidewall to sidewall 205/55R16 fitted to 6.5J rim about 214mm 215/60R16 fitted to 6J rim about 215mm 215/60R16 fitted to 6.5J rim about 221mm Overall Tyre Width (mm) Tyre Size Tread Depth (mm) Overall Diameter (mm) Overall Width (mm) Approved Rim Width Range (inch) 205/55R16 8.5 632 214 5.5-6.5-7.5 https://www.toyo.co.uk/tirefinder/index/width/205/aspect/55/rim/16

Most people prefer the look of alloy rims compared to steel rims. My comment about steel rims was about the weight. As you can see in the photo below, steel rims are never going to win any beauty competitions.

Can I change from 18" wheels to 16" wheels?
Those aftermarket rims are 7Jx16. The Kamiq uses narrower 6Jx16 rims. Fitting 205/60R16 tyres to wider 7J rims will make the ride a lot harder than using the standard 6J rims. Also, the tyres' sidewalls won't bulge out as much, resulting in far less protection from kerbing damage. 6Jx16 steel rims for the Kamiq weigh about 7.3kg, which is over 6% lighter than those 7.8kg alloy rims. 6Jx16 ET40 steel rims 7.3kg https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/plechovy-disk-16-/p/2Q0601027AA03C

Replacing Front Springs
1K0411105BC front springs are what most aftermarket spring catalogues list for the Octavia MK2 1.6TDI with automatic transmission. This is probably incorrect, as the correct front springs are probably 1K0411105AQ. If someone had fitted 1K0411105BC instead of 1K0411105AQ, they would have found that their ride height had increased slightly and the new front springs were a little stiffer than before. Aftermarket spring catalogues will often suggest a different OEM part number to what Skoda fitted in the factory. This is why it's worthwhile finding out what springs the car left the factory with and not just relying on what the aftermarket spring catalogues suggest.
-
Superb auto estate 4x4 air bag spring assisters.
It would make sense if all Skodas that have a factory fitted towbar left the factory with stiffer rear springs. If some Skodas with a factory fitted towbar didn't leave the factory with stiffer rear springs, then it would make sense for Skoda to make the stiffer rear springs a factory option. But as I've never heard of a separate option for stiffer rear springs when you order a new Skoda, I will assume that all Skodas that come with a factory fitted towbar also come with stiffer rear springs. Unless someone knows differently.

Superb auto estate 4x4 air bag spring assisters.
The aftermarket spring catalogues often think so. Here's an example with the Kodiaq. 5 seater Kodiaq without a factory fitted towbar has a softer rear spring. 5 seater Kodiaq with a factory fitted towbar has a harder rear spring. Kilen spring catalogue https://web.tecalliance.net/kilen/en/parts/cars/assigned?assemblyGroupId=100113&targetId=123934&typeNumber=123934&targetCountry=AT&page=0&groups=188#@brc/brands:Car;targetType:cars/assem:SKODA%20KODIAQ%20(NS7%2C%20NV7%2C%20NS6)%202.0%20TDI;targetType:cars;targetId:123934;typeNumber:123934;targetCountry:AT/lnkparts:Coil%20Springs;targetType:cars;assemblyGroupId:100113;targetId:123934;typeNumber:123934;targetCountry:AT;page:0;groups:188 There are also examples in the gknautomotive.com spring catalogue. These aftermarket spring catalogues will be trying to mirror what VAG fits to new cars.
