  1. Assuming it is a RH drive car, the passenger mirror dips to allow the driver to see the edge of the kerb, when parking. The rear view camera is designed to give an overall view behind the car.
  2. Thanks @Tell I have Firefox, and in the morning I’ll download turbo manager and try again.
  3. I am having trouble downloading from Škoda portal: https://infotainment-cdn.skoda-auto.com/base/maps/HIGH2_P413-ROW_202522.zip The download repeatedly fails with the message "connection lost" when I try to "resume", the download restarts from 0 again. Is anyone else having this trouble?
  4. @MartiniB The download for Australia is now separate from the ROW files I used to download. The Aus file is 1.96GB. Is that all I need to load, replacing 27GB previously required? EDIT: I have MIB2, so these files are not relevant anyway.
  5. I have been told by the windscreen installer that the ADAS system should not need to be recalibrated as there is a % tolerance in the system that will make up for any changes caused by a new screen. Fact or fiction?
  6. Correct. I have both Mine does the lane assist and is very good and sticks between the lines. I have four the aftermarket replacement is this - https://www.autoglasswarehouse.com.au/skoda~74536454
  7. Advice from the local Skoda dealer is either OEM or aftermarket is okay. Obviously I would like OEM but insurance company only want aftermarket. No idea why the centre punch - with the benefit of hindsight, I'd say to justify the replacement (a scam!) The glass repairer advises they do the recalibration, Skoda say they do. Insurance will take the least cost but I won't. My screen apparently has "rain sensor" is that in the equipment behind the rear view mirror? The wipers work when any rain hits the screen no matter how slight? The car is fitted with the "Tech Pack 206" and "Comfort Pack".
  8. Sorry to resurrect this old post but this is the only one I have found on windscreen replacement. I had a small chip in my screen and the insurance company referred me to O'Brien Glass (local in Australia). They proceeded to do their chip repair and promptly hit the chip with an automatic centre punch! now I have a real crack! My question is the replacement screen under warranty and what I need to ensure so that all the ACC, Rain Sensor etc. all are fitted properly afterwards. Any advice please? George
  9. A very good analysis from @leolito and I too use some of the techniques he describes. I also love how ACC maintains the speed limit whilst descending hills, something my other cruise control cars do not do.
  10. I love it too. I am a paraplegic so the ACC and lane assist are ideal for me. Without ACC etc., having one hand on the steering wheel and one on the brake/accelerator, is very tiresome on medium to long journeys. Oh, and don't get me talking about the exorbitant cost of hand controls -$6500 for what you see in the image.
  11. It seems they are no longer available? I found these - they lack the cables, so I'm not sure if they are a requirement? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005382601685.html
  12. Initially my service records appeared in the MySkoda app, but that has been removed. The vehicle status and health report are gone also, making the app useless here in Australia.
  13. Thanks for sharing - A great review to sort out the hype from reality.
  14. You'll have to get a closer image @MartiniB. I can't see any detail there!
  15. Skoda had a bad name here in Australia when it was a State owned asset during the Soviet era. In 1991 the VW Group acquired a 30% stake and full control in 2000. During that time in Australia, Ford and Holden (an Australian derivative of General Motors USA) held the majority of car sales. Slowly Japanese manufacturers started to erode that market share, and that brought about the end of the Holden and largely any local manufacturing disappeared. In 2017 this was reported - Škoda in Australia 2017 Today, on the other side of the world, Škoda is one of the fastest growing car brands. This year, Skoda has outsold Peugeot, Mini, Volvo and Fiat in Australia. Their sales numbers rival Jeep. Although small compared to the other Volkswagen Group brands, Škoda sales have grown 10.7% in 2017 over all. Fabia is their top performer, with a 39% growth reported from January to August, making up 738 of their 3,013 units sold in the first eight months of the year. Škoda in Australia 2021 While Skoda still lags behind its better-known sibling, Volkswagen, in the sales stakes – representing just a third of Volkswagen's year-to-date sales in 2021 – its sales numbers are equalling or exceeding established premium brands like Land Rover, Lexus and Volvo. The bottom line is, we are slow on the uptake but we are being educated
  16. Thanks @ApertureS but @CRB123 hasn't indicated that he has one as he bought 2nd hand and is in Australia like I am. It's a mystery. I'll contact Skoda here and see what they say. I haven't had any luck with them before but I'll try again. Thanks for all the replies.
  17. Hi @CRB123, I can't see that on any of the menus that I have encountered. How did you get to the submenu "Digital Service Schedule"? I see you have it under "Products & Services" but I only get 2 options as I showed before. Can you give me the URL where you see that menu? E.g. the home page for Erwin for me is https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/showHome.do I've even tried reregistering under a different name. This is what I get every time - (EDIT: I see the "Electronic Maintenance History" but when I click on it I get the error shown in the screenshot?) Cheers, George
  18. Hi @CRB123 - it appears that option is not available to me. I have previously paid the fee to download vehicle specific information but I'm not doing that every time I want to check on the service done on my vehicle. If I have paid for 4 years worth of service in advance, I expect to get all the services provided that are stated on that 4 year cycle. Am I wrong in thinking that. Also, why no useable Skoda app here in Australia, especially when there are no other ways of proving the services were done regularly. If I was selling, I would expect a buyer would want to see that information in a reliable hard copy?
  19. Looking good @JR RS
  20. The really disappointing part of the Skoda for me is that there is no service book and the MySkoda App appears to be nobbled here in Oz, compared to what I see on screenshots from Europe, and whilst it used to show a record of servicing it no longer does. All it shows is fuel remaining (but never seems to be up to date) and Vehicle Health Report.
  21. Thanks @toot. I appreciate the comprehensive reply. You mentioned something that always worries me with the fixed servicing. Does the service centre do everything on the list?
  22. Thanks. I suspected that would be the answer. The Skoda is our 2nd car and we usually use it only for trips etc. so no excessive idling (the AutoStart prevents that but it drives me mad due to the lag delay when restarting, especially at roundabouts, so I normally switch it off!). EDIT: I'm on a prepaid plan and feel I will miss out on major services due to not achieving the mileage for those services by the time the plan runs out. Cheers, George
