  1. It's funny how their North'ern' counterparts have continually denied there is a filter whenever I've asked them to either clean or replace it. Who knew the North/South Divide could be as little as 4.4 miles. PS Until reading this post I never realised Henry's South had a Skoda Service Centre, to me it was always a Honda Dealership. They now have a Suzuki franchise just a little further along, which they weirdly seemed to have acquired when AC bought up the Phoenix Group....
  2. I'm getting seriously hacked off with this weather. It's been almost four weeks of constant strong, bordering on dangerous, winds accompanied by either heavy rainfall, snow and hailstones, or thunder and lightning. Tonight has been the worst by far. If one of the dogs wants out for a pee I'm going to have to put its tracker on in case it blows away..
  3. Bit unnecessary. It's only through experience and being fannied about that you soon learn what your vehicle needs doing and what is dealer upselling BS. If you make a mistake and learn from it, that's experience. If you continue to make the same mistake, that stupidity. I made the schoolboy error of believing the hype about how good Skoda and it's dealers are. The experience I gained from that is to never buy one of their vehicles again.
  4. If the kids were as whiny and annoying as Greetin Thornburg, they should be grateful I don't use the little bast, 'darlings' for fuel for my fire.
  5. With all the fat and calorific values in that, ahem, 'food' it would burn a treat in my log burner...
  6. Honest John have went into administration; https://www.companyrescue.co.uk/guides-knowledge/news/honestjohn-co-uk-has-gone-into-administration-4431/ They've been 'rescued'of sorts, but they've just sacked their YouTube car review team. I wonder if I should also post this on the "In Administration"thread🤔
  7. Thanks Amanda, my YouTube feed has got these videos coming up in my Suggestions feed!!
  8. It would appear that the Koreans are not as efficient in everything they do. 27 seconds for the Emergency Services to respond...
  9. The other thing the mechanic told me was the springs on the Scout were similar (or were from the VW Passat). How true that is I don't know, and as I'm looking to change my vehicle soon, is not something I hopefully have to worry about! You haven't said why you want or need the raised ride height. If it is for comfort reasons I found a noticeable improvement in ride comfort since fitting Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons Gen2. They are probably the best tyre I've fitted since owning the vehicle for the last 10 years. The Goodyears are a more winter biased All Season, whereas the Michelin Cross Climates are more summer biased.
  10. After watching this for a few minutes, I was seriously wondering if my neighbours who like to partake funny flavoured cigarettes had left their door open again..... Though I must say it is marblelous what you can do with Lego these days. My cousin made an Apple phone out of some, unfortunately it got 'bricked' during a recent update...
  11. When in international waters they are nobodys concern. The issue is when they cross over into national waters, then it becomes that nations problem. As for dropping transmitters and tracking devices, if someone came across a transmitter and were able to trace its country of origin, guess who would be liable for disposing of it? It's only going to get worse with the tightening of emission regulations. Why risk fines for maritime pollution, when you can strip it of parts and just set the damn thing adrift and let it become someone else's issue?
  12. According to my local dealer, the springs for the 4x4 and Scout are the same as the non 4x4 versions. I asked as I seemed to be replacing suspension componentson my Scout on a regular basis. It actually failed its first MoT due to a fractured Coil Spring. The difference in ride height between the 4x4 and Scout is due to higher sidewall on the Scout tyres. HTH
  13. Not sure if the USCG have their own budget or come off the USN, but this was announced only a few weeks ago.. https://www.forbes.com/sites/craighooper/2020/02/14/valentines-day-massacre-us-navy-eliminating-40-billion-in-6-weeks/#162522656543 To put that into context that's 'only' $27billion less than the entire MoD budget for 2019-20.
  14. That's been discussed on various forums. It's all to do with who will pay to dispose of it or maintain it until they can trace the owner. If they dispose of it (some small arms or CIWS weapons practice) they could end up being taken to court by various people claiming to be the owner. Also if they were to sink it they would be liable to be taken to court by various environmental groups. They were not the only Warship to come across this.....
  15. I'm having deja vu to the Shifty thread.....
  16. I thought that was Auric! To be fair to you the Typhoon replacement is currently called Tempest; https://www.raf.mod.uk/what-we-do/team-tempest/
  17. I might have known the Usual Suspects would point out my FFS, 'ahem, deliberate mistake! That'll teach me to input via Swype after a few Nespressos! Thanks for the feedback, SM, I'll do that once I boot up the laptop in the forenoon.
  18. Has anyone any experience of using Car Gurus when purchasing a vehicle? I'm looking at changing my car in the next few months, and since it's over 17 years* since I last bought a second hand car I'm looking at getting the best advice as possible. Many thanks. * I kept it 7 years and then bought my current vehicle brand new 10 years ago.
  19. This takes me back to a time in my life when the ordinary was extraordinary. Enjoy.....
  20. I should hope so.... though he might struggle against a Typhoon.
  21. Maybe he was going to respond, but after reading some of these replies he's mullet-ing over.....
  22. I thought Shifty may have 'chipped' 8n, but then I noticed the time and he's probablly a........ manatee.
  23. Does anyone have any experience of using Ergo Tech Dog Guard? Also, is there any issues in attaching the dog guard to the rear head rest supports? Many thanks.
  24. I was going to add that, but I thought it may be an a salt on the senses! Just a thought, do you think when Shifty visits London he stays at the Saveloy Hotel......
  25. You never know, he could be driving around the plaice in one of the new batter-y powered Supper-b's......
