  1. What was the problem?
  2. ISTR it was the CTEKs themselves that packed up. I can’t remember which type it was but it was up the food chain from the CTEK 5 I’ve got. Had mine a couple of years and it has done fine.
  3. Make sure auto brake = off, back into the garage and keep hand well away from the switch. If I accidentally pull the switch (force of habit) then drive forward a little, back up and resist the temptation to pull the switch, again.
  4. I leave the bonnet cracked purely coz the emergency door release is one side and the bonnet opening lever the other, which in my garage is against the wall. For me worst case scenario is my CTEK decides to stop playing (which has happened to a few among Disco3 & 4 owners) and battery dies. At least I can easily get in to slap on my other heavy duty charger or jump the car from Mrs DSL’s car (assuming it’s not trapped in the garage behind my Karoq). I’ve left Skippy for up to 5 months like that while travelling without issue. I also make sure the car goes away dry, if at all possible, and the park brake is off. 👍
  5. If it was me I deffo wouldn’t worry about it. I’ve recently topped up the AC gases in two cars of mine as the AC wasn’t playing. The chap doing it asked when one of the cars (57 plate Jazz) was last topped up, I said 15 years ago in China when the car was put together. The other one needed regassed at 13 years. At 2 years old a car should deffo NOT need anything done to the AC, it’s classic milking the owner for all they can. My Karoq’s AC gases were put in the car 5 years ago, it then sat in various fields for 9 months before I bought it and all is well with the AC.
  6. I normally just log mpg, thought it would be interesting to log absolutely everything for this car.
  7. Skippy’s mpg record from purchase in 2020. Almost got to 60mpg but not quite. Mostly long trips up & down the country cruising at 60 - 65mpg on cc. 2.0 diesel, DSG & 4x4.
  8. As a precaution, store it locked but with the bonnet popped (able to open but not lifted). Then if there is an issue you can easily get to the battery terminals without having use the emergency lock to get into the car and force the bonnet release leaver if you can’t get the passenger door unlocked and open. My car’s sitting like that at the mo as prob won’t be using it for a good while.
  9. CTEK or similar, works for ours nicely for leaving the car in our garage for months (up to 5) at a time, however for a few weeks I wouldn’t bother if I know it’s had a reasonable run beforehand.

Cheers. 👍 Yep, off to B&Q to get some silicon, the drive of shame. It’s not a massive hole so that should do the job. As Mrs. DSL said, I was getting cocky re getting car in and out, and now banned from putting Skippy away solo. Will bung up a pic in a bit.
  11. I’ve managed to clip my driver’s side door mirror when backing into the garage. The back/top piece (the body coloured bit) pinged off but stayed in one piece (ish) which just clipped back into position. However, it was then that I realised the clear indicator cover had lost the last cm, the bit that can be seen from the driving position. Also a little bit of blue plastic was found so cover wasn’t quite intact and me putting the cover back on was a bit prem. Anyone know if the clear indicator cover is available as a separate part? If so how easy is it to get the coloured top cover off again, this time without driving into the door pillar? Mirror works fine, glass is fine, indicator and folding all fine. Wondering if changing the indicator “glass” and gluing the bit of plastic back in place is too tricky then just fill the small hole with silicon sealant to keep water out. Thoughts oh wise ones out there?
  12. Have they offered a loaner while you’re waiting on your car?
  13. Sounds a bit like my use, but my car can be left unused for up to 4 or 5 months when off travelling. When not being used she is in the garage on a CTEK charger. Re brakes, also had bad juddering and needed front pads and discs changed at 3 1/2 years and shade over 20k miles, £406 at Guildford Skoda dealer.

    Dec 2023 or 2024??
  15. Summer, we have summer? Last looked at home weather and it said +1!! Says he in a very pleasant +30c in NE Borneo. 🤣
  16. Do you have an original apple cable? Found it was the only cable that worked 100% reliably in my car.

ISTR one oddity with the European cover, any claim the first 2 years was billed to Skoda (or whoever pays the bill), the third year was on the basis of “you settle the bill and reclaim back from Skoda (or whoever reimburses you)”. I thought a bit odd at the time but didn’t pay much attention as wasn’t planning to head overseas in the car. Now car is out of warranty no longer an issue.
  18. 180k if my memory is working correctly. 👍
  19. Oops, meant LHS.
  20. It’s pretty flat, with the hatch open the RHS is still a little raised. But once the tailgate is closed it holds the load cover in place nicely and no view through the back is lost. 👍
  21. There are ways of fitting a full spare in the 4x4 boot. Not orthodox but works for us. 👍
  22. Strange, had similar with my non-ACC CC, it just wasn’t there when tried the switch. Stopped, shut the car down fully then started up, then all was well with the world, CC was back. Was -5c, might be a cause, might just be a ghost in the machine. 👍
  23. I’ve used one of these rods to change wheels, they are a great help. However the wheel still rotates around it so going to get a second, then the wheel will be held in the right position to put the other 3 bolts in place. That’s the only thing that’s better on my past LRs cf Skippy, they had hub bolts and wheel nuts which makes changing way easier, even when the wheel weighs 34kgs.
  24. Re prices holding their own, not any more.

Does BBC iPlayer work via CarPlay?
