18" wheels to 16" wheels
I think the 17s are the 2nd best option. 18s are just too much for tgat car. 225 40 profile is just not right. Even the 17s with 225 45 is quite low. Can't understand why they didn't just put 225 55 17s the same as the audi a6, would have been so much more comfortable. I think any profile in my old fashioned way of thinking is a very flat squared profile and that will always need precise alignment as they will always give uneven wear for the smallest of offsets. 205 and under will have less tyre to road and a far higher tolerance of out of alignment issues No difference in handling or at least not noticeable. A lot of people will just pick up a set of 16s that are usually 6.5" rims which i would imagine would have a difference in handling. Not major but half an inch to 7" i cant notice any difference. But so far its just all pros. For me the biggest one was ride quality. 18 setup was just too hard for the car and i always managed to find the crappest of potholes and ruts. I am however wondering if the standard 18 setup is stiffer anyway as opposed to the stick 16 setup which is probably softer and more dampier

Single mass flywheel
Mines is a 2.0tdi 170bhp. Was just a thought. We never used to have these issues back in the days

Top mounts?
Really ive always used meyle on droplinks and joints. Never had a problem with them. Used on vags toyotas and mercs. The shock topping out is exactly what im feeling. Will investigate

Single mass flywheel
Anyone changed to a single mass flywheel conversion. Just starting to get the clutch release bearing noise very faint but i have started to notice. Looking at receipts last time it was a luk flywheel and clutch kit. Was thinking of going single mass conversion. Any thoughts? Pros or cons

Top mounts?
Just changed the drop links for meyle hd ones and the balljoints to meyle ones. I have a clonk that i can feel from ns only when i hit a rut or pothole type, where wheel goes down first then on the rebound get a clonk almost like a completely knackered drop link sound. Could it be the drop link? Everything else looks good and feels tight

18" wheels to 16" wheels
Hi all Just changed from the standard 18s down to 16s which are 7" wide with an et49. All i can say is wow. Tyre noise fuel economy and the ride. Can't understanding why this car had 18s. The cars suspension is just too stiff for 18s. Tyre noise has literally disappeared. And comfort is nice. I know the 16s look crap for those of us that really are conscious but after the benefits i couldn't care less.

You will need a windback tool. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114581339679. Don't buy the other cheaper types they dont have the strength and slip. This has a spanner fitting on the piston the others dont. My way not necessarily the right way is, release cable from caliper mechanism and then grease up the sliders good, remember position of caliper piston, wind the caliper back in fully, then without pads or caliper bolted on, attach cable and pull handbrake up a few times to get piston moving again past the point of where it was when you started, then apply grease to piston, you can get some spray grease further on by lifting rubber seal, then wind back again and repeat a few times.

Climatronic temperature
Hi all Been having problems with temperature in the car lately. Nearly all winter and spring temperature has been on 22c both sides. Have noticed anything under 24c is cold the 24c is full heating. There's no in between Even with air con on sometimes its not fully cold. Youtube pointed at heater flap motor. No codes and vcds isn't showing any issues. Have looked underneath dash and that little motor thing is moving nicely with temperature adjustment but feels like its that loose that it swings but returns slightly. Any ideas what its called, does it sound like its at fault, is easy to do

Skoda Superb Mk2, won't start
Hi I have vcds. If an alternator does that though it will throw a red battery light. Battery is due today and i also ordered a volt display led thingy so i will monitor voltage. Everytime i have tested the alternator is throwing out the right voltage of over 13.8v. I do beleive its the battery as its not even a 096 size which is what it should be. Its a 61ah 540cca which is too small

Battery drain cured
Doesn't look like there is any adjustment. On a side note went flat last night again. The really weird thing is for the next 20 odd restarts it absolutely fine then out the blue flat, jump start and turn off even 5 minutes later and it will be fine for next 20 odd restarts A battery either failes to holf charge or holds it. It does not do it intermittently

Battery drain cured
Yes and no. As im over cautious when locking the car if maxidot shows anything open. If boot does play up i sort it immediately and then lock the car. It just takes a really heavy thump to close fully and i cant workout why.
