  1. I would suspect a faulty engine coolant temperature sensor. if it thinks the car is warm when it’s actually cold = less fuel = stall
  2. If it's really a 2010 then it most likely has a timing chain, not a belt!
  3. Yea correct, they fit straight on with no modification
  4. I can confirm the rear-badge is the same part-number I used. For the front I used: 5J0 853 621 AUL
  5. I believe the ignition-switch is in 3 main pieces: The key barrel The ignition lock The actual electric switch The main/hefty piece is the ignition lock, and the key-barrel + switch sort of clip onto either end of it. It's usually either the ignition lock or the electric switch which fail, so you should be able to simply replace one/both of those parts, and keep your existing keys + key holes. It's a pretty common failure on VAG models of the time; a workshop who deal often with VW products should be very familiar
  6. Based on the video, it looks like the engine stalls well before the oil-pressure light comes on........ If it was an engine shut-down commanded due to the low oil-pressure, I would've expected the low oil pressure to illuminate sooner. I would start by scanning fault codes with VCDS (or similar). Then you can also check if the immobiliser system is detecting the key. I know you tried your spare key, but it could also be that the reader on the car has failed, rather than the key.
  7. Good luck. If I were you, I would reason with the dealer along the lines of: This car was sold twice by you & only ever serviced by you Timing chain problems are a very well-known issue on this engine You complained about a "noisy startup" to them in the past, which you have now learned is a key symptom of timing chain issues Timing chains don't suddenly go bad overnight, usually the symptoms develop over time and you had been mentioning the noisy startups to them since 2017! They had several service opportunities during which they could have picked it up but didn't You expect better more pro-active service experience from them given they are a main-deleter and supposed to be the experts Probably unlikely they are going to cover the entire bill for a car of this age/mileage - but they should make a significant contribution
  8. Hello! This is a relatively common problem with higher mileage on this engine. Inside your engine there is an oil pick-up tube which sucks the engine oil from the sump up to the top parts of the engine. The tube also has a little gauze filter on the bottom of it. After a long time the tube/filter can get clogged up with sludge which causes the low oil pressure. It’s super common on this engine. You need to get this fixed sooner rather than later. If the light only comes on occasionally, then probably your engine is still fine. I have seen people ignore the issue and eventually their engine is not worth repairing.
  9. I would start with the easy stuff: - make sure the air filter isn’t clogged with debris - perhaps throw in a can of fuel injector cleaner - scan all the computer modules for fault codes do both cars have similar mileage? If one has done way more than the other, they may never feel identical
  10. Yea - classic symptoms of a faulty clock spring. can’t help any further than that. if you do attempt to replace it yourself, be sure to disconnect your 12V battery before fiddling with any airbag wiring.
  11. A lot of the little Bluetooth dongles are not very reliable. I think the one which seems to get best reviews but is also able to scan all the modules (as opposed to just basic OBD2) is Carista. i have an OBDEleven myself and it was good to begin with but then reliability went downhill.
  12. When you say the Air Con is not working, do you mean the air conditioning or the fan? They’re two separate things and the fan/heater can operate without the air conditioning (cooling/drying) functioning In my experience, fault 01273 was a failed fan (also called blower motor). They are quite common to fail. But check your fuses first, and also try the fan on all fan speeds. If it works on max speed but none other, likely just the blower motor resistor that has failed. If it seems like blower motor itself has failed, take out the cabin filter & the fan for a visual inspection. They are easy to access in the passenger footwell. On our cars, the blower motor comes first and then the filter is after the blower. Unfortunately this design means debris from outside could get sucked in and damage or clog the fan before reaching the filter. If your car sat for a long time, it’s possible a rodent or something got in there and made a nest. So do a visual inspection / clean out before ordering parts
  13. Start by scanning all the computer modules for fault codes with a tool like VCDS or other equally-capable scan tool. Post the results of that here and we can try to help further
  14. I believe the part number is: 1K0 919 309 should be the same as most VAG cars of similar age
