Seems so, but it was found unreliable solution like the previous models, that's why at the very end VW decided to deprecate all the coolant tanks with silica bag and developed a new single walled one without silica solution in it.

Thanks @Blootoon! I'm a bit confused why they put G12evo coolant in his car( p/n G12E050A2 )? Does the G12evo compensate the lack of silica bag in the expansion tank? 2019 Octavias with the new expansion tank from the factory(5Q0121407M) having no silica bag in it, exit with G13. @James@Pentagon_Seat Was so right

Mine squeaks from the suspension bushes(many MQB does) and gets noisier in the winter. I know some dealers put some special grease which last for 6 months or even an year. Or at least that's what they do in Bulgaria.. I would prefer to change them, but AFAIK bushes aren't gone when they start to squeak, just noisier.

Without removing the air filter is really pain in the butt if you haven't done it before. Believe me, just remove that airbox, it's not that hard. Then you'll be able to unscrew that filter with whatever 24 hex you have

I’m watching this because I retrofitted OEM ones, but are definitely brighter than the stock ones on the facelift model.

Mine isn't single walled, so the silica bag can't be accessed easily. That's why I will replace the tank.

+1 remove it if the bag is easily accessible. If it's not change the coolant tank - my care is still under warranty for few more months and I'll replace mine with the new model of the tank without silica bag. I plan to do it myself, it doesn't look that hard.

Do you guys know the exact part number? Stealer have 10x expansion tank models ending with different letter 5Q0121407[A,D,F,G,J,M,P,Q,S,T]? Wondering which one excludes the silica bag in it? I won’t comment the coolant type, because I saw a coolant newer than G13, but named with previous number - G12-Evo... I think this one is only for Hybrid/Electrical vehicles, but I don’t think they know either

Btw have you noticed that those expansion tanks without silica bags have label saying G12 coolant; those with the bag inside are labeled with G13. Is the coolant type related to the existence of such bag or I’m overthinking it?

I decided to remove the silica bag on my car today after seeing the “mit silikat” label on the expansion tank, but unfortunately mine isn’t in the inner reservoir... Wondering is it in the outer one meaning that I have to replace the whole expansion tank, or it was removed by the dealer at some point?

Had the low key battery warning from few days and decided to change it today. I bought 2032 which is ticker and doesn't stay in place until you put the key cover back on. Maybe I will go with CR 2025 size next time. The original battery was Energizer and the locksmith shop from which I bought the new one had the same brand only. Cost €2.

Hi Guys, I followed this old thread to deactivate my low beams and leave only the DRL strips for CH/LH function. It's a pre-FL O3 2016. The adaptation instructions below works great, but the DRL strips during the CH/LH aren't as bright as when the car is running. Is there anyway I can get the same brightness level of this strips for the CH/LH function like when drive the car? There should be VCDS setting about it I'm using the following adaption from this post( the rest is the default settings ): Thanks in advance!

Another set of studded tires huh? I guess they are needed more than AWD in Scandinavian countries? It was -11 and -7 in the last few nights here and we got some snow, but warmer weather is coming in the next couple of weeks.

It's always better with higher and narrower tires in the snow :P Studded tires aren't allowed here, but the winter ones are mandatory from Nov 15th till Mar. @rum4mo good point about the bolt covers, especially if they threat the roads with salt in your region.

Hey @hansen1 those rims are great! I bought some old MK2 alloy rims for the winter, but yours look much better I've just started to think about replacing them with the steel ones as your I moved from the factory 225/50/17 to 215/60/16 for the winter.
