switching gears
Hi. You can normally drive and switch gear leaver from D to S and back with no issues. I only wouldn't recommend changing it when under full throttle or full braking. Not sure what you mean with "DSG gear". If you mean the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel, then yes. You can also use them when in D mode.

Front parking sensor error
I think sensors are clipped in from the back side.

dynamic chassis control
Ok. It just sounded strange that you don't notice any real changes in how the car drives between comfort, standard and sport. To me, changes are quite noticeable. Especially with suspension, steering wheel, gearbox (quicker gear changes, holding gears longer) and gas pedal sensitivity.

Is any Octavia MK4 without fault?
I previously had na iPhone 11 and now have an iPhone 14 and I have never used wireless charging. As you already noticed, it's useless. Now when I need to charge my phone, I use cable.

More vRS tyre musings!
My friend has just put Michelin PS 5 on his 2021 Octi VRS and he loves them.

Windshield replacement.
I agree with TheWanderer. I intentionally went to the Skoda dealer and did the insurance claim through them so I can be 100% sure I will get an original glass. We also have Carglass here in Slovenia and unfortunately usually people, who change their glass through them, don't get an original one.

Windshield replacement.
I just got mine replaced with a original one by a certified Skoda dealer. The glass was insured.

vRS Engine Cover Recall
Maybe you will feel better. I just got a new windscreen too. And already got the first small stone chip on the way home from the garage. And it seats just in front of my eyes. 🤐

VRS Brake Upgrades
I think I will start with just changing to EBC Turbo Groove discs and EBC Redstuff pads when the time comes for a change.

vRS Engine Cover Recall
If it doesn't go off easily, then fixing points were definitely upgraded. 😁

Who have remapped and/or downpipe replacement RS 2.0tsi?
Nice! Love it! 🥰

vRS Engine Cover Recall
Could be also the fixing points were upgraded? Maybe one of the new owners can make a few photos of the cover? From top and bottom.

EA888 Gen3 DLBA engines are used in some regions like South Africa and New Zealand. As far as I know in Europe Evo4 games are used.

Are the center air vents annoying?
I don't notice them. I have my AC on auto and vents are in the same position for over 2 years.

Auto unlock
Didn't try this specifically. But in the manual it says the car will lock itself if no door is opened within 45s after unlocking.

Auto unlock
The same happened to me recently a few times. I owns this car for more than 2 years and this never happened until now. I was browsing through settings in my car the other day and I accidently enabled the Auto unlock setting. Of course I immediately turned it off. After this, it happened 2 or 3 times that my car unlocked itself without touching the handles.

I have AutoHold but I don't use it. 😂 Thanks for a long post. I think I need to try this AutoHold function and see if I can maybe incorporate it in my driving style or better say in my driving habits. Maybe I could get used to that.

I was told that in mk4 Octavias RS and Golf 8 GTI there is a revised version of Dq381 gearbox with some changes in oil flow and cooling. But this is not 100% confirmed information.

I can also drive a manual just fine. Don't have a problem with that. But I bought an automatic for a reason. So I don't need to use a gear leaver when not necessary . I agree with you about the "relax" part. Indeed the engine runs higher when stationary in D as when in N. No. I rarely use the handbrake. Even when the car is in N for shorter time, I only use the brake pedal. That it is called an automatic transmission for a reason. So you don't need to do anything since the gearbox does everything for you. But with your style of driving that's not the case. With the new VAG DSG design there is no leaver to put the gearbox into manual. You can only use paddles on the steering wheel. So you have even less interaction with that "thingy". Engine start/stop system which automatically switches off and on the engine at stop.

You are using start/stop I presume?

Just thinking out loud. If you need to switch the gear leaver on an automatic transmission every time you come to a stop, it becomes kinda semi automatic. And it takes away all the pluses which auto transmission actually gives. I also doubt that new gear leaver was designed to be moved all the time because of it's small design (at least in the VAG group). I would put it in N every time when car is stationary for more than few minutes. But not in the traffic. I really can't imagine putting it in N every time I stop in a crawling traffic. or from traffic light to traffic light. Please don't eat me alive. I'm not saying I'm right or wrong. I'm just thinking out loud and how I imagine (or I would like) an automatic transmission should be used. 😇 Now I'm waiting another "drama" themed post from @toot 😅

This is almost reading as you would have a manual transmission and not a DSG. Doing this is taking away almost all advantages of having an automatic transmission.
