  1. Haha well, I'm a poor apprentice, have you ever heard of the boots theory? πŸ€” The car in question has probably had spent on it more than it's worth, gearbox refurbished, sport link springs kit all around, upgraded brakes, performance oil serviced twice a year. It's getting old and I could have said no when it kept breaking, but I think I'm attached to it and to me it's a great car. I've not really had any issues with it for nearly a year now - I'd like to think that it's because I've been keeping on top of them. Now there's a track rod out and the alignment bolts are seized - in the condition it is, wheel alignment would cost me a fortune so I'd rather replace the whole thing and just take it in for alignment with new bolts and bushes fitted by myself πŸ™ƒ I'm sure that a newer car would cost me similar, only instead of buying car parts, I'd be spending on wrap kits and painting the wheels. I didn't need all the upgrades I have done, but it's just me, I love the octy πŸ™ˆ
  2. Hi sorry for the late reply! No, I meant the wee hook in the bottom picture has been bent. I'll post proper close up pictures when I get down to fitting it all, probably begin next week. I'll be doing it myself but I'm an apprentice at a workshop so I'll have a ramp and plenty of help. I was thinking of painting some underseal over before fitting it.
  3. Must have been dropped * thanks parcel force I will post more updates once I get down to fitting the kit.
  4. Hi all, this is what's inside the package - not yet fully unpacked as won't be fitted until later on. 2 lower wishbones, 2 upper wishbones, 2 track rods, rear axle, bolts, 2 drop links
  5. I've ordered, will post an update when it gets here! 😊
  6. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353878415474?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=4shbm6n2SBa&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=7cWLiTnxRpi&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Looking for a pair of rear wishbones and bushes and I've found this whole kit. Anyone ever heard of them? πŸ€” I feel tempted to buy this kit but not sure about the quality. After all my car is already 15 years old and the original subframe has lasted all this time.
  7. Hi all, on an mk2 octavia hatchback, do you really need to drop the arm on the rear subframe in order to replace the dampers? It's what i'm seeing in the videos. Was hoping I could do the dampers on street. I know it'll be more of a pain with springs but one of the dampers is leaking so really needs replaced asap and I've waited long enough. Just really want to do it myself. Thanks
  8. The Chinese unit the car came with died completely so I'm looking to replace it. Looking to grab something second hand online. Ideally something camera ready (my Reverse camera is installed at the back and still works) and with a cd player since I can't always rely on Internet connection 😒 Please I don't know anything about modern car stereo πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜
  9. If I wanted to replace just the bushes, do I need to remove the subframe?? Been hearing different opinions πŸ˜… that might as well save me the hassle and I'll worry about the axle next year..
  10. Also not sure about the axle beam replacement - found some that look like mine from the octy, found some that are supposed to fit a golf and the OEM number is compatible but it looks different to mine, so not sure πŸ€”
  11. Apparently it's the top bolts seized onto the bushes, been trying to find a picture. I know where they are just can't explain sorry, 🀣 Someone on here said they had just their arms and bushes replaced, perhaps it'll save me from replacing the whole axle beam but not sure as the garage said they would need it all out 😩 I do need rear dampers ASAP so it was to see i could get both done at the same time as I assume dampers will Need removed for that job.
  12. Mine went, ended ordering one that was said to be compatible but didn't fit, ordered another one, returned the old one with no issues, except for the mechanic raging πŸ˜‡ I did hear it start with an unusual noise for a few days prior to it going, I knew it wasn't the battery because those have died on me so many times I can tell by the noise πŸ˜… The lights on the dash were normal also.
  13. Miner's the same. Looking for a replacement, as apparently screws are seized so 4 wheel alignment cannot be done and it drives like crap.. πŸ˜•
  14. How did you trace it, did you just notice it was worn?? My car stopped wobbling after 4 wheel alignment - but the back is now seized and can't be done again and the driving is awful 😞
  15. Bump cause mine does the same.. I had her aligned in February and it was driving fab. Now its back to wobbling, the rear can't be aligned as the bolts are seized to the bushes - I'll begin there but it's some job... It feels awful to drive and affects the handling so just looking into what else it could be before I change half of the carπŸ˜’
  16. Fine, maybe I was being silly 😟 what I'm thinking if the other wire needs soldered onto the plug, this could be done with the remaining one too, in the event of it snapping, πŸ˜…πŸ˜† I'll find out tomorrow a friend is bringing their soldering kit, seeing that I've only ever done some soldering comfortably on the bench and not bent over the car
  17. well the wire snapped already so I'm not sure? I assumed the connector would turn too as I'm unscrewing it? am I being silly
  18. If i unscrewed the whole switch, would it not be easier to remove the connector? is it worth a shot with a spanner?
  19. screwdrivers work with college cars for me... when it comes to my own car I break everything 🀨 won't be the first plug I damage . Patience and practice I guess
  20. I was , there was some play there but not enough, I was scared to break it. i have small hands and little confidence . thank you, I've watched and will practice on something more accessible, airflow meter sensor perhaps πŸ˜…
  21. my MOT is coming up in a month, so it's a bit of a pain πŸ™„
  22. I know but I snapped off the blue wire ending that was sitting on the plug - so need the plug out to actually add wire to it to connect with the blue bit under the tape. So still need the plug off πŸ˜” Also this is the switch I bought (not saying I'm going to fit it) but it doesn't look complicated to plug in, how come is it so hard to unplug the current one?
  23. they were, but because I break a lot of things I touch, the blue wire end disappeared πŸ˜‡ also which loom? the big loom at the headlight, or where it splits and feeds the motor starter I believe? thought of unplugging at the loom but there are too many wires i'd rather avoid unplugging everything if I can
