Anyone in Scotland able to replace a head gasket?
I'm in Ayrshire. Will give them a phone. And will consider the sealant - need a car to go abroad next month so not worth getting another car. Thank you

Anyone in Scotland able to replace a head gasket?
Suspected head gasket on my 2.0tdi PD, anyone in Scotland able to replace it /repair the head? My local engine specialist garage cannot see it just now, and I'm supposed to be travelling within a month so really just looking at my options.

Air con not engaging
Wow that's impressive π who doesn't like diagnosing a fault. I have now checked that my fault is due to an open circuit in wiring, but I've yet to trace exactly where the wire is brokenπ hundreds spent on new parts to keep the system running, but I do not know if the previous compressor was working and the condenser had no fins π so I think it was worth replacing them anyway.

Air con not engaging
The compressor came with the pulley. As others on here suggested, I am now looking at replacing the pressure sensor as it has been hissing when unplugged. But it's a pain in the neck and I'm struggling to find the right tool. Tap spanner didn't help and I worry I'll snap off the pipe.

Air con not engaging
Yes I believe so. Just not sure how it operates as I've read there are magnetic and mechanical? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/375465412308?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=s4mp-vlkteq&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=7cWLiTnxRpi&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY This is what I got and fitted for it.

Removing high pressure air con sensor
Did you need to regass the car after replacing it?

Air con not engaging
Car is a 2008 vrs BMN. Could someone please explain to me like I'm a dummy, why oh why will air conditioning not engage after I have replaced my compressor, condenser and o rings? Car has had a regas and the outer temperature sensor had a snapped wire - must have been damaged when removing bumper to gain access to the radiators but I had forgot about it. Anyway, soldered the wire and temperature readings are OK, but air con still won't kick in! I dont even see an increaso0e in revs when I turn the temperature down to the lowest setting. Mechanic said it took all the gas, no leaks, and saw no issues other than the temperature sensor. What would cause it not to engage π€·π»ββοΈ?

Octavia mk2 hatchback roof tent
Hello everyone, I'm looking for recommendations on a roof tent I could use with my 2008 hatchback octy? Have a set of roof bars that came with the car. I have never shopped for a roof tent before, so any recommendations are welcome. Many thanks

Looking for a rear axle
Haha well, I'm a poor apprentice, have you ever heard of the boots theory? π€ The car in question has probably had spent on it more than it's worth, gearbox refurbished, sport link springs kit all around, upgraded brakes, performance oil serviced twice a year. It's getting old and I could have said no when it kept breaking, but I think I'm attached to it and to me it's a great car. I've not really had any issues with it for nearly a year now - I'd like to think that it's because I've been keeping on top of them. Now there's a track rod out and the alignment bolts are seized - in the condition it is, wheel alignment would cost me a fortune so I'd rather replace the whole thing and just take it in for alignment with new bolts and bushes fitted by myself π I'm sure that a newer car would cost me similar, only instead of buying car parts, I'd be spending on wrap kits and painting the wheels. I didn't need all the upgrades I have done, but it's just me, I love the octy π

Looking for a rear axle
Hi sorry for the late reply! No, I meant the wee hook in the bottom picture has been bent. I'll post proper close up pictures when I get down to fitting it all, probably begin next week. I'll be doing it myself but I'm an apprentice at a workshop so I'll have a ramp and plenty of help. I was thinking of painting some underseal over before fitting it.

Looking for a rear axle

Anyone ever heard of them? π€ I feel tempted to buy this kit but not sure about the quality. After all my car is already 15 years old and the original subframe has lasted all this time.

rear dampers and springs- do I need a ramp?
Hi all, on an mk2 octavia hatchback, do you really need to drop the arm on the rear subframe in order to replace the dampers? It's what i'm seeing in the videos. Was hoping I could do the dampers on street. I know it'll be more of a pain with springs but one of the dampers is leaking so really needs replaced asap and I've waited long enough. Just really want to do it myself. Thanks

Recommendations on radio units for an mk2 octavia??
The Chinese unit the car came with died completely so I'm looking to replace it. Looking to grab something second hand online. Ideally something camera ready (my Reverse camera is installed at the back and still works) and with a cd player since I can't always rely on Internet connection π’ Please I don't know anything about modern car stereo πππ

Rear axle corrosion
If I wanted to replace just the bushes, do I need to remove the subframe?? Been hearing different opinions π that might as well save me the hassle and I'll worry about the axle next year..
-
Rear axle corrosion
Also not sure about the axle beam replacement - found some that look like mine from the octy, found some that are supposed to fit a golf and the OEM number is compatible but it looks different to mine, so not sure π€

Rear axle corrosion
Apparently it's the top bolts seized onto the bushes, been trying to find a picture. I know where they are just can't explain sorry, π€£ Someone on here said they had just their arms and bushes replaced, perhaps it'll save me from replacing the whole axle beam but not sure as the garage said they would need it all out π© I do need rear dampers ASAP so it was to see i could get both done at the same time as I assume dampers will Need removed for that job.

Starter motor compatibility
Mine went, ended ordering one that was said to be compatible but didn't fit, ordered another one, returned the old one with no issues, except for the mechanic raging π I did hear it start with an unusual noise for a few days prior to it going, I knew it wasn't the battery because those have died on me so many times I can tell by the noise π The lights on the dash were normal also.

Rear axle corrosion
Miner's the same. Looking for a replacement, as apparently screws are seized so 4 wheel alignment cannot be done and it drives like crap.. π

car wobbling side to side at high speeds
How did you trace it, did you just notice it was worn?? My car stopped wobbling after 4 wheel alignment - but the back is now seized and can't be done again and the driving is awful π
