  1. Yeah. 10 is what 8 should have been IMO. They tried to reinvent the wheel with 8 and failed massively.
  2. Same here, mine is a tad older as an i7-2600k. It's still more than capable for my needs too.
  3. I do hope that they can at least provide a way for some to use W11 without having to resort to trying to get one of those modules. Whether that becomes a reality or not is a different matter however. My desktop would be okay since it has a header. My personal laptop would be okay I think since it was bought in January (HP OMEN 15) but I think the laptop I use for university will be having a hell of a time since it's a ThinkPad x201i.

  6. Same here. Mine just shifted off of the full tank mark so I should be all good until this all blows over.
  7. @BJB540 have they managed to sort out the Trusted Platform Module thing? Is it possible to procure a version that doesn't need this as a requirement? That's if you know of course.
  8. I always loved XP since that's what I grew up using, except Mac OS 9.2 and OS X. I was also quite partial to Windows 7, particularly for the Aero theme.
  9. I don't think I'm looking forward to Windows 11 to be honest. I didn't look forward to Windows 10 either and I still don't like. I'm only using it because I have to!
  10. Much like myself then. Admittedly my filter was fitted around December 2020 time (previous owner) but this summer has been harsh on the thing and you could tell the car was very flat in terms of throttle response, or numb if you will.
  11. We've got a Duster in the household that replaced a positively knackered Toyota Auris TR that we had before. The little 100hp TCe engine is surprisingly nippy for such a big car! The turning circle on this behemoth is on par with my 2006 Fabia too - in it being easy to manoeuvre. I have a relative who is looking at one of the new bog standard Sanderos for himself, his wife, and the niece he has for most of the week. He had a top of the line Bi-Fuel Sandero to try recently and I got to have a seat in it. It's a very comfortable car I thought, at least.
  12. Up my way I'd say yes for just about every car that used to be in abundance (Toyota Corolla, Citroen Saxo, Vauxhall Vectra and others that I recall well) but I see a lot of older Fabias, I drive past a Y-reg estate every single time I go to Tesco. I was also overtaken by an 51 Elegance recently. There's not many of your vintage for sale I've noticed however, more on the road though.
  13. Some of you may know of this location... first correct answer gets a mystery prize! Date on these is 02.01.2021 - the photos themselves will have the wrong date because I haven't put a new clock battery in my Canon EOS 400D.
  14. It's quite a nice place! It's also nice to meet someone with a Fabia of the same generation!
  15. Could certainly say I've been busy adding some interior comfort touches to my wee car today... So, I managed to contact a nice chap about a 2002 Elegance he was breaking as I was in search for one of those cupholder/ashtray things that all the "fancy" Skodas have and got it off him for a price which may have been a wee bit much in my eyes - but I'm a real tightwad so there's that. Before... After... Now, I had been driving this car on longer journeys and looking for somewhere to put my left arm often. So £30 or so later, I bought this: A VidaXL Armrest - there's no instructions so it's complex as heck and the design is a bit odd for trying to put the rear screws in, but it feels nice enough. The car is needing a clean so I'm just waiting until the weather picks up a bit so I can get out with my hoover to clean it up a bit. The armrest gets in the road of the handbrake a little and would have been better if it was an inch shorter at the most. The little storage cubby is nice. I have quite a lot of cassettes (plug a personal stereo into the head unit via 3.5mm jack and we're good to go!) and there's some I'd like to take with me so this armrest makes it a good place to keep them. This is all for now. I also ordered a "new" laptop as an almost disposable item for university work so I'm holding back on the car for now until it desperately needs something.

  19. There's a VCDS map floating about on this forum. I'm East Ayrshire even though my profile says Ayr (which is South Ayrshire). I don't have VCDS but I'm sure you could contact one of the lovely people who are local to us on the map.
  20. This is a photograph I took at the start of the year of my happy place. It's a little path that follows the burn near one of the local villages. Possibly not even half a mile all in but it's nice since the Scouts have done work to the Promised Land gardens and sometimes it's nice just to sit up there and take in the countryside in this lovely part of the world.
  21. I had an ulterior motive to replacing the air filter. Recently the car was doing behaviour that I'd regard as bizarre to say the least. I'd be sitting in neutral and it'd feel like it was about to conk out and then when running it would hold revs for longer before letting them drop at a slower pace. I put this down to the panel filter but it came back, this time I'm looking at a sticky throttle valve. I shall investigate and come back with answers... - it's still drivable, but just a bit odd to drive.
