  2. Welcome to the forums! Nice to see someone else with a Mk1 Fabia with the HTP engine.
  3. Smashing looking Superb there! Welcome to the forums. Honestly up to you, I'll assume you've looked up the advantages each package offers?

  5. You could perhaps give a scrapyard a ring to see if they're breaking a Fab vRS.
  6. Haven't done anything to the car besides fixing the earthing issue that was rearing its ugly head once again. This time, it led to a lot of screaming and swearing while I tried to move the damned thing around the Sainsbury's car park without any power steering. Additionally, the ABS light and other lights came on. Having seen this fault, I knew exactly how to repair it by taking the earth strap off of the front wing and clean the contacts. It's now running as sound as before! I hadn't been able to take any photos of the car due to the abysmal weather and today it has been sunny (but chilly) so I headed out to a local car park and got some snaps of the red nugget. I don't have anything especially nice bought/scavenged for the little thing yet but we'll see what the future holds as I've got some amazing (to me, at least) plans for this wee thing in the months (and hopefully years) to come. I also totted up the mileage I have covered since purchasing this car in March, I'm somewhere in the region of 3,000 miles in 6 months and that is steadily increasing every single day.
  7. Sorry! I forgot to mention that I've updated it to the newest BIOS I could get on Lenovo's website. It was a long day yesterday @Liger1956 - I'll take the Crucial BX out of my desktop (which is out of action currently) and give it a shot in the Lenovo. Thanks!
  8. I think I have posted this in the right section. If not, bear with me. Okay, so I've got this IBM Lenovo ThinkPad X201i which arrived with a noisy as heck 120GB hard drive and 4GB of RAM, it also runs a Core i3 1st gen running at 2.13GHz (model number escapes me currently) and it ran fine... but of course, me being - well me. I just HAD to upgrade it a wee bit because I should know fine well to leave stuff alone but I don't. So anyway, before I get off topic too much, it doesn't recognise the 480GB SATAIII Kingston SSD I slapped into it but it recognises it if it is in a USB caddy. I've tried to format it using that computer and another one and it formats fine, but the Thinkpad's on-board BIOS doesn't agree with it as it doesn't see it at all. I have absolutely no idea what to do as swearing at it hasn't gotten me very far!
  9. I was dead chuffed of this photo back when it was actually warm up this way...
  10. Very nice Octavia! Welcome to the forums.

  12. Very good!
  13. I don't intend to be buying anything else for this currently but thought I'd let you all know of a massive gripe I have about this car. The issue being that under hill-starts and/or rapid acceleration, the CDs come out of the little pocket thing below the stereo and attack me!
  14. Welcome to the forums!
  15. Noted. I'm not very mechanically minded but am eager to learn. So every single day is a learning day when it comes to this wee car.
  16. Oh I hadn't thought of that, thanks! I'll get to that once this rain decides to ease off a bit.
  17. Okay, had a look at the hose going between the inlet and the brake servo and it appears alright visually. The vacuum hose which connects to the air filter housing also seems to be intact. Where else should I be looking for an issue?

  19. Lovely looking motor! Welcome to the forums.

  21. Thank you @sepulchrave! I shall have a nosey tomorrow should the weather permit.
  22. As you all will know, Fabia headlights (and others) tend to cloud/yellow over because of their plastic material. Well today - thanks to my Grampa - the headlights got polished and now look miles better. Night-time driving is miles (pun fully intended) better! The left had been completed, the right hadn't at the time of the photo. The left-hand side light before the polishing and treatment. The photos sadly don't do the before and afters any justice unfortunately but it looks much better!
  23. Hi all, My BME code Fabia runs like a treat most of the time but I find once the car has gotten warm after a substantial run (anything over 15 miles) and I am stopped with the engine running for more than a couple of minutes (e.g. at traffic lights - happened today and before) that the flap within the throttle body becomes sticky and causes the revs to drop much slower. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does it can become a right pain when changing gear. Sometimes when it does it at idle the revs will also drop to a point where it'll feel as if it would cut out before picking back up and idling normally. Would it just be a matter of taking the throttle body off and cleaning it? In which case, how would the throttle body be removed; e.g. where are the bolts/screws holding it on located? I'm no expert and any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
