  1. That is really helpful, thanks.
  2. I used the Australian link and I got notice of an impending upgrade. Ok it applies to Australia. 🇦🇺 Australia has vast distances between dealerships which may explain why Aus has such a site and U.K. 🇬🇧 does not - our ‘local service partner’ may be the equivalent. That being said, many of us feel we are not getting transparency on software upgrades. So I feel that a U.K. version of the Australian on-line search facility 🔎would help by enabling U.K. owners to book impending upgrades themselves instead of passively waiting for the dealership to get around to them. My car has no suffix. Does that indicate that it needs new HW before it can be optimised? 🤷‍♂️ If so does anyone know how people in my position can convert this information into dealership action? 🤔
  3. Good question. Anyone? 🤷‍♂️
  4. Brilliant. I have exactly the same model and year as you and ✔️ near identical software report data 🧐 You had suffix B at start and I have no suffix at all.🤔 I start with 1668. ✔️ Your satnav sw ends up slightly higher than my current number.🤞 My system does revert to different settings especially whenever the ‘map of the world’ screen comes on at start-up. My telephone Bluetooth connect (I use CarPlay) is not reliable (and despite 4 attempts dealer ‘can not replicate!’ The issue and seems to suspect my phone despite telling him it is the same with other non iPhones) Guess this is what you mean be ‘more responsive’? So my dealer acknowledges an established and documented Skoda Bluetooth issue and “will look out for updates” So far he says “There are none available” Now I need to convince him that (as you have found with your dealer) the software upgrade IS out there already?
  5. I now understand. Thank you
  6. That is a plausible enough explanation. 👍
  7. Here’s hoping you have a prompt resolution to this issue. I am Still wondering what the difference is between a ‘module’ a ‘head unit’ and a ‘control box’. Are they different terms for the same part? Can anyone clarify please?
  8. Had no idea that an update could ruin an MIB! Doesn’t inspire confidence. All recent VW Group cars must have a similar issue.
  9. Please Do John, Your VRS with HUD sounds lovely but doubtless diff software to my SEL FE. I really hope you get the ACC swapping between km and miles fixed soon.
  10. I contacted SkodaServiceuk on the basis of the recent screen shots on the forum showing different software. I too have the km/h issue, but find the built in satnav and Laura poor, so I use Siri on Apple CarPlay instead. Here is part of the response: ”In relation to the screenshots provided it would also depend on the type of head unit in the vehicle and the specification as these can vary. I will speak to my technical team to see if this would make any difference and get back to you by Wednesday next week.’ Not sure exactly what a ‘Head Unit’ is but guess it may be either: the visible screen unit itself or some control box concealed in the car somewhere.
  11. Agree. So frustrating. Hope we get fully functioning MIBs before end of warranty year 3, but I’ve already decided to change cars before the warranty expires with this in mind and because of noisy transmission. So guess I’ll be driving a battery car sooner than expected. I’ve learnt a lesson with this car and will strongly consider leasing in future.
  12. VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat all using the same software on MIBs. Thats a lot of cars with this/similar software. Unlike for a mobile phone SW upgrade car owners have to take the cars in and even leave them overnight. Garages must be stretched with trying to keep customers happy. VW Group can not have tested sufficiently before release. I have just less than 2 yrs warranty remaining. What will owners do regarding software problems after warranties expire? 🤞
  13. I have Octavia 4 SEL FE Combi, like yours and mine went in for a software upgrade in September. Mine came out with this? Anything I should know?
  14. I believe it is not possible to retain the last selected change in driving mode, it reverts back each time you switch the ignition off. I don’t use ‘Sync but I was under the impression that the setting remained until manually altered.
  15. JJC please remind us how we can check on the software version we have. 👍
  16. Hi Traps Sorry to hear this. Are you located in the London area by any chance? Several contributors are convinced that there are low-signal black spots in certain area including London. However others including me feel that a low-battery charge level invokes the issue. Skoda recalled my Octavia for a power steering software upgrade about 3 months ago. The existing software led to the steering draining the battery when idling, say at junctions. I’ve not had an SOS fault since the cold snaps last winter when we were in lockdown and I was scarcely using the car. Dealer ‘should’ do any software upgrades along with your service but I’d ask if your car has the latest upgrade anyway.
  17. My Octavia IV has a problem with phone auto-connect. It will pair a phone easily enough but will randomly fail to auto-connect thereafter. Bizarrely if I open a car door whilst ‘in fault’ the car auto-connects with Bluetooth straight away every time. After a whole year of attempting to solve the issue on four separate occasions Skoda has at last informed my garage of a software problem causing the issue. It appears that this problem is well known to Skoda and effects reversing cameras also. The fix is still being prepared but here are the technical details: Infotainment model - MIB O1-SW1805 Fault Cause - Software fault MIB Solution - The new software for MIB, SW 1805 is being prepared that should resolve the problems mentioned. No indication yet of when the new software will be available but I hope this is of some use or help to other Skoda owners who have MIB 01-SW1805 Infotainment system and are experiencing intermittent Bluetooth dropout problems with phones and reversing cameras.
  18. I was surprised to find a YouTube video advising me to correct Parking Monitoring and Front Assist issue by .....cleaning the small area of outside windscreen that lies behind the SOS unit. Looking in you see a camera. I cleaned the windscreen in that area - not knowing that front-assist relied on this camera. It worked and cleared all parking assist and general front assist problems. Hope this helps
  19. My Octavia had a power steering software upgrade - because apparently the PS is either electric or electrically assisted. The upgrade was done in order to stop the PS drawing too much power. I believe this was happening when idling in traffic. IMHO the SOS problem, which I experienced 3 times last winter, is due to low voltage. But that opinion is based solely upon error messages coming up on previously owned VW cars, in winter, due to low voltage. So it may be worth asking if your car needs/has had this particular software upgrade. I have had no SOS issues since, but then it is summer. Also last winters lockdowns meant that my own and many other cars remained uncharged for weeks or months during cold weather. Let us know how you get on because SOS false-reporting is still a common problem.
  20. Thanks guys. When all else fails…..read the manual. So my car is on flexible servicing as indicated on the vehicle by the future schedule of + 398 days. One has to wonder why it is that both the garage of purchase plus my new local Service Partner are saying that my car is due for a service on 18th September 2021 and to book in now!
  21. Hi SurreyJohn Thanks for this I have a service plan which covers two services, please see details in attached screenshot - 1 oil change plus 1 oil and inspection service plus pollen filter I assume that the car is set up with Skoda U.K. for Flexible Service as the My Skoda App has pulled in this data from my chassis number (currently showing 398 days to my first service which tie in with 2nd anniversary of purchase). Is that a safe assumption? My intention would be to get the Two services I shall finish paying for after 24 Direct Debits done as e-Roottoot advises 1st at end of year two 2nd at a month before end of year 3 along with a Dealership-MOT so that the inspection and MOT can raise any points for warranty repairs. Would you or others with greater experience than me agree that I am set up for that option or do I require anything more in order to make certain? Thank you all for your help . PoloPaul
  22. Thanks eRoottoot - you have put most elequently what I was reluctant to state ie that @ £185+ for an oil and filter change - having customers get their cars serviced twice as often is ‘good for business! The thing is that it would be good to have the terms and conditions of the flexible servicing regime in writing. Do you or anyone else know where this can be obtained? Thanks
  23. Hello All, wondering if anyone can help with this My Octavia is nearly one year old. I have a monthly direct debit of £16.50 for 24 months for a Service Plan including two services. I was ‘told’ by the dealer at purchase that the car is on Flexible Service Regime I understand Flexible Servicing of ANY car to mean that I can await the ‘Service Due’ notification on the dashboard rather than having the car serviced at 12 month intervals. That suits me because at present the My Skoda App on my phone tells me that I have done 3605 miles (lockdown!), ‘Oil Change’ is due after another 15099 miles or 399 days. I have moved house since purchase and have a new Service Partner - They are e-mailing to inform me that my first service is due. I could get the service done at 12 months (now) and after another 12 months but as I am on Flexible Service Regime it suits me to eek out service so the first is due at say 24 months maintaining my 3 year warranty, while the next ‘flexible’ service may bring me as perhaps to a further 24 months after that. In this way I can eek out my pre-paid services until my car is 4 years (ish) old and still be covered by the ‘first 3 years’ warranty. My issue is …… that service staff at the dealership I bought the car from confirmed that I can follow flexible servicing and still maintain the three year warranty. However I only have verbal confirmation and could not get anything in writing. Can anyone show me where I can get definitive written confirmation as I am concerned that garages may otherwise argue that I have broken the conditions of the Skoda Warranty. Thank you
  24. The generation before was 3 btw!😂
