vRS Engine Cover Recall
Wow ... lucky the ones that are keeping the cover and unlucky the ones that are getting new cars without it, that fact is completely unacceptable. Cover is not for the aesthetic, it has his purpose. Without it and without a from time to time cleaning I do not want to imagine how filthy the cylinder head cover could get ... and all its hardware: PCV, injectors, intake, gaskets ... bad, very bad.

vRS Engine Cover Recall
Hi guys, Do you have any updates on the subject? Checking messages seems that the replacement part was expected to be available, as per @zetzet, this month, but I am afraid that forecast date is just science fiction. In my case, and as I advanced to my dealer, I'm still driving the car with the cover on with proper follow-up and no issues, even with very high temperatures here in the south of France.

Travel assist retrofit
Thanks a lot for this ! 🙂 well, another item for which I will wait for a reduction in prices.

vRS Engine Cover Recall
Well ... mine is checked, removed and cleaned in a regular basis, and for the time being it is as good as new, fixing points are still tight enough to keep the cover in place avoiding any contact on the turbo blanket side, so either the dealer call me with the replacement part in his hand or I will keep it where it is. But I am very curious about that message on the infotainment screen ... In my case, I haven't seen yet that message. Do you know in the basis of what the message is sent to the system?

Travel assist retrofit
That's exactly what I had in mind. And after all this time with the retrofit installed and working ... are you happy with it? Did you have time to use it in highway for a long distance? I am considering the retrofit as well ... but I am not sure if it's worth the money after checking a bit steering wheels' prices. And regarding traffic sign recognition ... I'm curious, @East_Yorkshire_Retrofits you said that it's not cheap but ... Do you have an order of magnitude?

Travel assist retrofit
Interesting post ... Just a little question. If I am not mistaken, travel assist uses traffic sign recognition to set properly the speed of the car ... How did you sorted it out? Were you able to code it as well?

Nice @bolix ! Tested and working !

New VRS suspension
Lucky us we can disable that feature now, either via app or adaptation on control module A9. In my case it's already disabled and no regrets. Now only movement to be done just after starting the car is switching off the start-stop.

ACC Braking when overtaking
Not sure if this will help but maybe is good to know. Tested and working fine in my VRS: ACC can be set as a classic CC via long coding in control unit 13 Adaptative Cruise Control. I did it via OBDeleven long coding simple menu, so I cannot give specific byte/bit changed but if you have VCDS should be easy to find (Cruise_control_mode). In top of that, control unit 13 is not SFD locked, so you can go further and play, at your own risk, with a big bunch of ACC parameters. To be honest, in my Octavia ACC was working "more or less" ok, but I prefer way better the classic CC, always the driver with the control.

Canton Sound System Upgrade
Hi There, For what is worth. Seems that the Focal set made for the golf VIII is compatible but the connectors have to be replaced, is not plug and play, at least for the woofers. If interested, you would need to buy those from the VW Golf VIII (And other Skoda models btw). To be confirmed but I would say part ref. num. is the 1J0 972 923. Cheers.

Canton Sound System Upgrade
@DutchVRS .... Very nice job, impressive. May I ask you ... for the rear doors ... woofers have the same diameter than woofers from front doors? I would say yes ... but just to confirm. Cheers!

Turbo Outlet
Hi @BacktoaVRS, I fitted one almost 2.000 km ago and for the time being, so far so good. It's quite straightforward to install, for me the most tricky part was putting back in place the torx located in the bottom part of the muffler, I was afraid of dropping it inside the engine bay. Once in place, the rest is peanuts. No mapping needed, just plug and play, as @TheUltraRunner said, besides the increase of turbo blowing sound no noticeable power gain. You could go for a dyno run to test, but I think it is pointless. I see that the air intake system is already available to buy but, to be honest, for me makes no sense its installation before proper ECU remap. In the market we start to have a big bunch of hardware, I am still missing intercooler though, but without remap ...

Front badge question
I can share my experience on this subject. I bought the one from Superskoda in black and moonwhite from the mk3. I would say the geometry of the badge is almost equal, but the pins are longer, so you have to cut them a bit. I used my dremel to sand them in steps, testing all the time the fitment on the bonnet. The final result is satisfactory. 🙂

can not log into profile
For sure something is going on in terms of remote connection. In my case, I can connect in app and web ... but impossible to update data since last week. Nothing has been changed in the car settings so I guess it's a problem from their side. I hope.

Available coding/adaptation mods
No clue about start/stop, but considering that methods used in previous versions are not working and we don't have a dedicated start/stop button to be able to plug a start/stop eliminator harness ... a priori seems to be complex to remove.

Available coding/adaptation mods
I do confirm for lane assist, SFD token is not needed. Module A5 is not locked, so coding, long coding helper, bit 6 or 7, now I do not remember by heart, and configuration for lane departure warning k115 to be set to last setting and you are done.

Cars without wireless android -> update available!!
Not related to AA connection and not sure if it's coming with this upgrade or was available with previous updates ... but now I have a direct ASR / DCS enable/disable in the SET menu shorcut ... Nice ! 🙂

Cars without wireless android -> update available!!
Nope, it was only software upgrade. I was not experiencing any kind of issue with the SOS module, so no intervention there.

Cars without wireless android -> update available!!
Sorry for being late with the replay, I bit off this weekend. Sure, I do have photos of the pre and post: Pre: Post: And regarding the connection mode, not sure what it is about. For the wireless connection I did it off home, without using my WiFi network, and it worked well.

Cars without wireless android -> update available!!
Just arrived from the garage and I can confirm: System ref updated from B to F and software version from 1666 to 1806. For the time being, only tested wireless android auto connection and works fine.

Available coding/adaptation mods
That's very interesting @omadon, just a quick question. Which is the current plant you have in VCTool? I assume that to do one click presets and buying SFD tokens the free account is enough, right?

Front/rear speakers diameter for Octavia mk IV
Those from Focal are sold as plug and play ... in the installation videos they have in their web for the Golf VIII installation, audio connectors, mounting points and woofer geometry fit the stock so I would say the set would fit. It's a pity that I cannot check in partslink24, but I would not be surprise if the Golf and the Octavia share the same part number for the speakers.

Front/rear speakers diameter for Octavia mk IV
Hi guys, I am exploring the possibility of performing an upgrade of the stock front/rear speakers for my RS and replace them for a custom Focal Inside premium 8.1 set. My question is ... do you know which is the diameter of the door support? I assume that the front and rear should be the same. Octavia mk IV is not listed in the Focal web as compatible model but the closest one in the range is the golf VIII with 158 mm diameter between supporting points (2 way component kit IS VW 155). I guess that for the Skoda should be more or less the same dimension. Let's see if somebody could help, if not, no choice, I will dismount the door trim panels to take a look. Cheers!
