  1. Just watching that Sportline video. I've watched several videos now and most seem to point out the new lettering along the back which makes me think the presenters are quoting from some Skoda press brief. What's different about it? The badging was replaced by S K O D A letting on the Kodiaq three years ago. Well at least we now know what that Skoda screen wipe was... a 10p piece of cloth. FFS this is going to get as annoying as people pulling out useless door bins, opening bottles one handed and being impressed by a 10p piece of plastic and calling it an ice scrapper. Also the 1st video to suggest ( he doesn't know it tho ) what's happened to Park button - it looks to have been moved to the screen. Hopefully it works like it does at present and doesn't just bring up a sub-menu which would be really annoying. Makes mention of remote parking which would be a 1st for Skoda if true. I could have done with that last night when some bugger parked their car at an angle in the next bay in such a way I couldn't open the drivers door. Found out I'm now getting too old to enter thru the passenger door and climb over the center console. Well it was either that or having Sainburys customer services put an announcement over their tannoy for the **** who can't park their car properly.
  2. Hopefully this story will be followed up on. Making an assumption it's a std car and hasn't been adapted in anyway for mobility, I'm not sure what I'd have done. Must admit tho, calling the wife so she could warn the traffic ahead wouldn't have entered my mind. According to the story it's not just the driver who experienced this, the police were also unable to stop the car - they only did so by blocking it's path. And when the AA say they were frightened to start it... Always looking for fault in everything Toot. Looks very familiar. It's the layby outside the Renault dealer in Bishopbriggs ( where I bought a Clio from some years ago ). There may be a double yellow line along that section of the road. You'll know better than anyone about rules surrounding disability - I was under the impression disability badge holders could park on double yellows in Scotland so if he has a badge then it's all legal. No need to call the police, no need to call the fraud squad, no need to call HMRC Mind you if his car is £ecked, what other option is there? I certainly wouldn't drive it after that experience.

  4. I have to say you're coming over as being incredibly stupid, which of course you're not. Why are you mentioning prices of individual items? Nobody is asking Skoda for individual items and neither are they selling us individual items. We're buying a service or a package if you like. It's no different to Thomas Cook selling us a package holiday. There is nothing whatsoever fraudulant about Skoda setting a price to have the spark plugs changed and unless they're not paying their taxes, it's bonkers to suggest HMRC should be investigating. Here's the million dollar question - If you think it's fraud, are you going to report it? I'll put 50p on the answer being no.
  5. Grown by 51mm and to these eyes at least, frign ugly - to me the side and especially rear views say Renault, the front view says some North American SUV barge. Chrysler perhaps? I'm not impressed. I'm asking myself why would I ever swap my 2020 car, something that after 3years ownership I find hard to fault? Given any Sportline is now well past the addition £40k luxury UK tax threshold, I can't see me remaining with Skoda when I next change the car.
  6. It's not a dig, it's to stop confusion. And it's to stop taking every opportunity to have a go at dealers. You haven't answered what's fraudulant about it. You haven't answered HMRC's involvement. Why have you mentioned them? I'm sure I'm not the only person who's completely baffled by your reply. For the life of me I can't understand why people chose to complicate something that's so simple. The owner asks how much does it cost to change the spark plugs, the garage gives their price and you either take it or leave it. What does it matter if it's a 3, 4, 6 or 8 cylinder engine?
  7. What's all this talk about 3 spark plugs when the subject is Spart Plugs - 1.5tsi ? What's fraudulant about it? Where does HMRC come into it? Skoda 1.5tsi - needs 4 x spark plugs. Phone the Skoda dealer ask for a price to change the plugs. If itheir price is too expensive, phone around some other garages for a better quote. No need to call the fraud sqaud, no need to telephone Jeremy Hunt.
  8. The reply was intended for someone who said a previous reply was too technical - I was trying to make it easier for them. Given your previous posts I reckon you know exactly what I'm on about therefore I see your reply as intent to spark debate. So let me give a rhetorical reply to a rhetorical question. Fit 225/55/19 tyres on those alloys, get involved in a crash that's serious enough for it to be thoroughly investigated, and cross your fingers and everything else that either your or the 3rd party insurers pay out. Anything else wrong with the answer I gave - spelling mistake perhaps?
  9. None. Will try to explain Carlston's post. To keep legal, the new tyres circumference will need to be within a certain tollerance of your current tyre. So if you want to change say the thickness of the tyre then it's width would also need to change to keep the circumference the same. You can often fit a wider tyre on the same alloy which has the effect of making the tyre thinner, but that's the opposite of you want. It's not so easy to make the sidewall thicker - i.e. you'd need to reduce the width of the tyre because then it'd have trouble fitting on your current alloy. Basically what I'm saying is you'd need to change to alloy wheel to a different size ( smaller ) to increase the tyre depth. ( see Carlston's post above ) The way I saw it was it was cheaper me spending £60 to refurbish our standard 19" crator alloys than buy a new ones. People may say you need to improve your driving to stop curbing. Well they obviously haven't driven on 225/40/19 tyres with crator alloys. You need luck, not skill to avoid kerbing them.

I can only speak of Kodiaq experience, but the mild facelifts Karoq/Kodiaq and Superb received in 2020 ( new style steering wheel + usb-c etc ) included newer MIB3 headunits which lost the CD player in previous MIB2 generations but gained Wiireless SmartLink. So yes, you should have both wireless AA and CarPlay if you have USB-C sockets. Just done a search for the update details and found this: 2020 Infotainment update Hope that helps.
  11. The garage confirmed my service plan is setup as I had expected and not as per the online booking system. So an oil service isn't an oil service but an oil+inspection, and an oil+inspection service is actually an inspection+extended scope service. And I'm just back from GoOutdoors in Clydebank where their manager was trying to tell me that the water resistant jacket I bought lets showers go straight thru it. I'm having one of those days wondering if it's just me or is life supposed to be this confusing?
  12. Reading this with interest. Don't have a Kamiq but same service regime with my car. I tried to book my 3rd service online but I'm now confused as hell. The service plan is provided by VWFS so it may just be their wording but... My car is 3yr old. 1st two services were covered by a servcie plan when I purchased the car, so far it's been serviced exactly as expected. I've now taken out another service plan for yr 3 and 4. HOWEVER... Year3 should be the inspection and extended scope service, year 4 the inspection service as per Skoda shedule but when booking online the system tells me I can use either one of the 2 services in the plan I purchased... oil service or inspection service. WTF ? I now need to check with the dealer themselves because if they're only going to do an oil service then Skoda's servcie plan literature and pricing examples are misleading. I took out the plan when it was on special offer - 24 x £16 payments =£384 in total. The normal price is 24 x £19 = £456. If you were to PAYG then using Skodas own fixed pricing that equates to £255 ( ext scope ) + £195 ( inspect ) = £450 which ties in with the normal service plan price. But if it's just inspection ( £195 ) + oil servcie ( from memory I think it's about £180 ) that totals = £375. Could it be possible Skoda are charging £450 for a plan that's worth £375 ? Why oh why do Skoda and VW in general make servicing so ****ing confusing ? I know what I'm taking about and I still haven't a clue ! 🤪

  14. Hold on a minute people.... WRENDUB - are you quite sure you're providing us with the correct information because I'm struggling to understand any of this. Are you 100% sure the car has already been written off? Are you sure the insurer hasn't already settled the claim? Just looking at your other thread re: having provided your insurer with the wrong information... There's a light bulb going off in my head thinking along the lines of the insurer may be giving you sweet Fanny Adams for your car hence it's market value post accident rather than pre. A few folk have mentioned assessors coming out... WHY? If the car has already been written off the the OP will receive it's market value. You don't require an inspector to know it's market value if it's being written off. Give me the date of registration, the model, the mileage and I'll tell you what it's market value is. Put the car's details into somewhere like WeBuyAnyCar etc, take the lowest price and you won't be a million miles away from it's market value. Remember, we're not talking about a high end BMW where if an 'i' isn't dotted or a 'T' isn't crossed it could affect the price by many thousands of pounds, it's a 2014 Fabia which in the grand scheme of the insurance industry, is worth **** all. The cost of sending out an assessor alone would eat in to that market value payout. If they did want to make money, it'll be charging the 3rd party insurer for hire cars and injuries and other admin work but as for the car itself is concerned? It's not worth arguing about. There's defo something strange about this. No insurer would take a car to a salvage auction to assess it's worth before making an offer to their client - there has to be something the OP hasn't understood correctly.
  15. Depends on your occupation. Most occupations are the same risk with the obvious exceptions. For instance if you were a carpenter and now you're an electrician, it's not something that would affect the premium. However if you were a carpenter and now you're a taxi driver, you could be in the 5hit house. If it's a non-fault accident, your insurer may give you some leaway because it'll be the 3rd party insurer who'll be coughing up the money, however if it's coming out of your insurer's pocket... I've always found that being honest is best. If you make a mistake, own up to it. We all make mistakes and that's normally taken in to account when resolving a situation. If there is a problem and they don't pay out... that's life I'm afraid. Nobody to blame but yourself - we all have to live with setbacks now and again. No disrespect but a 2014 fabia ? Even if you have average miles, the sums involved here are miniscule in insurance terms. It'd cost the insurer more to challange than the car's worth so I wouldn't worry too much.
  16. It' maybe me mis-understanding this but I'm confused. You've posted the insurance & legal issues section. If your car has been written off then the insurer will pay out it's market value BEFORE the accident occured. I can't understand why they're taking the car away to give you a price when you say it's all ready been written off ? 🤪
  17. Are you opening the car with the same key each time? I'm not familiar with the Enyaq but if that's the actual issue then look up personalisation in the online owners manual. It involves Skoda connect - something I don't really want to talk anyone thru as the software doesn't behave itself ( no two registrations are ever the same with me ! ) Did you have the car from new? if so then someone must have set this up. If it's a used car then the previous owner probbly set it up - it needs clearing. Basically you can assign a key to yourself and set various functions to that key. When I open the car with my key, I have it setup so the infortainment will greet me with my name, the temperature will be set, the radio volume will be set and the seat - as you say, the seat adjusts when you open the door, but only if using a different key from the last time the car was opened.
  18. Glad you sorted it out and gave a solution which may help others. Parts replaced within a new warranty are guaranteed up until that warranty expires so not at all sure what you meant by your statutory rights? It doesn't just apply to Skoda or the motor industry in general, it applies to all goods you buy in the UK. Given the lack of responses and the lack of issues regarding failed struts on this forum, it clearly isn't a design fault. A manufacturing fault with your car perhaps, but definately not a design fault. My thoughts? If Skoda replaced the original strut and the boot worked for 9 months afterwords then it's unlikely the wiring was the issue back then. That makes me think the loom may have been disturbed when they changed the original strut. If I'd been in your shoes I would not have carried out the repair when noticing a broken wire, rather I'd have done exactly what Nottslan said and returned the car to the dealer. The car may well have been out of warranty but I think they may have struggled to argue that 'wear and tear' wasn't present whilst the car was under warranty. ( legally they don't have to prove anything but all the same ). If they repaired the wiring and the boot opened / closed, then they'd have been left with egg on their faces - I'm convinced the repair costs would have been waived or Skoda would have approved the loom be replaced under 'goodwill'. You also talk about Skoda's unhelpfulness. I thought all us owners who's warranty is about to expire are offered an extended warranty at a reduced rate. Did you receive that offer?
  19. If it were me then I'd remove it. There's no legal obligation to carry a temporary spare or repair gunge here in the UK. If the tyre is missing, it won't make any difference to the settlement figure. Just had a look a the prices on Autotrader. Obviously depends on mileage but the likelyhood is the car will be broken up for spares anyway. Seems a bit odd that they're taking the car away without already giving you a settlement figure? Until they payout then It's YOUR car not the insurer's to do with what they please.

  22. As toot says, you just have to shop around for a fully fitted price. Camskill.co.uk can often seem much cheaper but you need to then factor in delivery cost and then arrange fitting yourself ( approx £15 fully fitted per tyre ). Additionally, there's a £60 cashback for 4 x michelin tyres on at the moment. I used Costco in Edinburgh some years ago for all-season tyres on my Octavia. They were an absolute bargain, but that's not always true of Costco prices - depends on what promotion they're running. There's always someone with an offer on. If you can wait a wee bitty, hold off until mid November ( black friday promotions start ). I was sorely tempted by ATS's offer in 2022 at £780 for four fully fitted 20" cross climate 2 tyres. ( it included cashback from Michelin ). edit: forgot to say the supply of all-season tyres can nosedive whenever the first sign of snow appears.
  23. The dial 😲 It has the same white graduated markings as the dash vent opener / regulator and the same ice symbol as your air conditioning button. Thought that would be self explanitory what it was? Thought you were talking about the rubber knob below it. It maybe as simple as a rubber cushion to stop the glove box lid rattling when closed. I've just never noticed it before. And as I say, I don't see it on other VW gloveboxes. Hey ho.
  24. You mean inside the lower glovebox, just below the control dial for the glovebox chill? I've had my car for 3years and you know what, I never saw that button before. I haven't frigg'n clue. At first I thought it was the switch for the glovebox interior light but it doesn't appear to touch the glovebox lid when it closes. It's on a spring so doesn't feel like an on/off button and it twists like a volume knob. Had a look thru the .pdf owners manual - can't see anything. It might well be an ejector seat 😲 EDIT: Had a look at pics on Google of other Skoda gloveboxes - haven't come across a picture of any other Skoda models with this button so seems unique to Kodiaq. It's below both glovebox buttons so just wondering if in some way it controls the upper glove box - a locking mechanism or something?
  25. Think of yourself as an old fart. We can moan all we want but every manufacturer is doing it so best get used to it. One thing about Skoda is at least they're retaining some physical buttons / dials in their new interiors.
