Incorrect. The dealer dictates the price, the only input VWFS have is to provide finance. Have a look at DriveTheDeal.co.uk They generally have the lowest prices but it's still VWFS who provides the finance from whatever UK Skoda dealer the broker uses. According to the posts above, things have obviously changed since I last purchased a Skoda, but can assure you the above doesn't hold true with Audi today ( still VWFS ) as they work exactly as I'd expected. I settled at the end of December, a week after purchase, which cost me £35. Terminology - Never ever CANCEL a PCP. I request a settlement figure within 7 days of purchase and the most I've had to pay is either the interest or an admin fee, whichever is greatest. Costs me around £30 to SETTLE the agreement. I recently heard from a sales friend that if it's outside 14days, then they'll charge commission, but I have no personal experience of this. ( Sales people are usually ignorant of settlement, or at least they play ignorant ). Not sure what this 'you can't do it within 14days' is all about - read the T&C. PCP allows you to settle AT ANYTIME. Since the online portal system was available, I've always had the option to request a VWFS settlement figure as soon as my account was setup. Prior to online, it was simply a case of phoning up VWFS and saying you've changed your mind, can I have a settlement figure. As SurreyJohn says above, it's vital you don't ask to CANCEL the agreement. I'm pretty sure if you call VWFS and ask them to explain potential charges, they'll give you correct information. I can't speak highly enough of VWFS, they've always been very helpful to me. Hope that helps

Au Revoir Skoda
Sold my Kodiaq last month which proved to be the best car I've owned. Have owned the four big VW group manufacturers now, and despite them being basically the same car underneath, without doubt Skoda have been the most impressive. In the coming weeks I'll write a review of each Skoda I've owned and add some real-world figures rather than what professional motoring hacks or armchair experts tell you. Hopefully it'll help someone decide if they're in the market for such a car. So why not another new Skoda? Well that's easy. I much prefer to buy my car rather than lease it. The Skodas I've owned have gone from fantastic to outstanding value for money, however despite hefty discounting, I couldn't make the figures work on another brand new car. One thing I loved about Skoda was the std equipment levels, and if I wanted extras, I could easily option them, but then their marketing changed and Skoda followed others by introducing packs. Because these packs only contain one of my desired options, it meant paying for lots of equipment that I didn't want. Add several different packs and the price skyrockets. And then there's the cost of individual options. A sunroof on a Kodiaq now costs an eyewatering £1850. That's substantially more expensive than other VW group manufacturers ask for the exact same sunroof on their models. Long story short, I gave up the idea of buying another SUV and went back to an estate but even on Octavia, they want £1700 for a sunroof. That's just insane for a brand that peddles value. Why not a nearly new Skoda? Skoda seem to be holding back on std equipment these days meaning I need options, but given the price of these, I find very few cars with the options I want. Or rather, I can't find a single car with the options I want. And when you do find one with a good number of options, well... the cost is often more than a brand new car after discounts. Another Octavia? It's a great car however what it isn't is a luxury car. (Neither is a Superb in my book.) When I do spec up an Octavia ( not even a Vrs ) it lists over £40k, the luxury tax threshold meaning an additional £425 a year in tax. That would bug me everytime I drove it. Skoda still works brilliantly in lower trim levels but their higher trim cars no longer make sense - not for me anyway. The best thing I can say about the Skodas I've owned, especially the kodiaq is I normally change my car every two or three years. In 40 years of owning many cars, there are only four I've kept for over 3 years: Golf GT 2007 ( 3.5years ) Octavia SEL estate 2017 ( 4 years ) Karoq Edition 2019 ( 4 years ) Kodiaq Sportline ( 5 years ) And I'd have been happy to have kept that Kodiaq until it became economically unviable, it was that good. Sorry, just revisiting this. Yes, 2 services, 1 air filter... It's only scheduled to be replaed every 2nd yr. Did you think it was supposed to be changed every service?

Squeaky brakes in reverse... but not always!
Back in 2019 when the car was only a few months old, I had the exact same problem with our Karoq when roads were wet - the brakes would squeal when reversing. Lots of people were experiencing it back then and was a known problem to Skoda. I'm pretty sure it was put down to a batch of faulty pads. Anyway, they changed them under warranty - problem solved and never returned in the near four years I had the car.

2024 Lead/Delivery Time
I was quoted 32-34 weeks for a factory order PHEV Sportline with options. They did have a used PHEV onsite that I briefly looked at, so whether that was just sales patter to promote his used car I don't know, but that seems an insane amount of time to wait.

Canton and PHEV
Big thanks for that. I just looked in the under floor storage, didn't realise you could lift the other floor piece. I was thinking it may have been something like the box they use in the Enyaq, ( which doesn't have a spare either ), something which I have played around with but thought ineffective compared to the sub in a Kodiaq Mk1. Unless the cone has sufficient space beside it to move air, that sub looks like it could be even worse than the Enyaq. Think I'm erring towards a VW Tayron rather than another Kodiaq, but their Harmon Kardon system will be identical to what you've shown above. Many thanks once again, appreciated. 👍

Canton and PHEV
That's why I asked the question specifically to those who have the above package. If you read the article it says subwoofer is mounted in the spare wheel. But given PHEV's do not have a spare wheel nor an area to accommodate one ( the battery prevents a spare wheel ) then obviously that Canton brochure cannot be true for the PHEV. Even the owners manual only refers to the sub in the spare wheel.

PHEV owners - Has anyone added the Convenience Plus pack to their car? I'm specifically looking for info re: Canton sound system. Where's the sub? Had a look at a PHEV today but couldn't see anything in the under floor boot tray ( where the load cover and cables reside ). I wasn't nterested in the particular car I saw today so didn't bother having a good look round, but stupid me didn't think to turn on the infotainment and see if there was actually a sub level in the equalizer setting. Brochures mention 12 speakers with the Canton system - I'm presuming that means 6 front door, 4 rear door, a centre and a sub, but not sure if this also applies to the PHEV model. Typically Skoda mount the sub in the spare wheel, but with no room for a spare in the PHEV, obviously that's not where it is.

Drove it the other week for the first time in ages. One thing I did note was a few squeaks from the dashboard. Had the Karoq for 3.5yr and not a single creak.

Learner drivers - will newly proposed UK rules become law?
Kim Leadbeater MP Her proposed bill has the support of all parties, who in their right mind would vote against it, so yes it's almost certain to become law. Just two questions - how will it be policed and what will be the punishment for offenders? How do you stop more road deaths with young drivers? Put more police on the roads. I'm sure we all know of areas, especially at night, where certain areas have been turned in to Grand Prix circuits. Obviously the police know about them too, it's just they do eff all about it. Why? well obviously due to police numbers, but then the law is an ass because when they do get caught, it's a slap on the hands. How many deaths will this proposal prevent? Oh I'll take a wild guess and say none because you can't do this on the cheap.

The world is full of people who know better. Who gives a 5hite what someone coming from a position of ignorance says? A You Tuber is making money from hits and subscribers so it's in their interest to create havoc. I changed the Karoq for a Toyota last year. I couldn't give a *** what the Toyota main dealer uses, it could be Flora cooking oil for all I care. What I do care about is as long as the car is serviced my a main dealer each year, Toyota will warranty the car for 10 years. If I go on what some, here today gone tomorrow, YouTuber says, my car will be warranted for 3yr from the date of registration. It's not rocket science folks. Here endith the lesson. Buy the way, what's all this crap about manufacturers changing the oil spec because the car wasn't achieving it's claimed mpg. No car achieves it's claimed mpg - the results are based on laboratory conditions. The manufacturer doesn't test the car going up and down hills in the rain and cold ...and high winds ...and effects of surrounding traffic ...and different road surfaces ...and with different loads etc etc etc Are people really that gullable?

Way to connect external subwoofer amplifier to stock stereo system via rca?
Fiirst of all you've posted this in the wrong section and secondly... It looks like you're trying to achieve this on a shoestring budget and that's an impossibility with that head unit because there are no RCA outputs. There are still ways to achieve it but in all honesty 1: The cost wouldn't justify the results you're after 2. Even if you were to fork out mega bucks, in all honesty, you'd be the last person on the planet who should wiring the system up. I know I shouldn't go any further with this but I can't help myself. What are those wires that come out between the speaker and the sub housing for? Don't tell us that's the speaker wire.

Thinking of downsizing from a Karoq - any recommendations please?
Was in similar position last year. We were after a smaller car, boot spce for golf clubs, electric cart + other golfing nicknaks, economy and something that would be happy driving mostly short distances around town. And had to be a good deal. Cut a long story short, we bought a Toyota Yaris Cross Sport and added the safety kit. ( an excel would have given all of that + electric boot but I hated the interior - the sport has the suede like seats. ) We ended up with an unbelievable deal but that was down to lucky timing more than anything else. Can give you a full 9mth review if you want. Basically the boot is briliant given the car's dimensions but that comes at the price of rear seat space - there isn't any. The legendary Toyota reliability maybe there but that's little wonder when you see the materials used. Our Karoq Edition was a solid car, the Yaris Cross is anything but. The main driver is delighted with it so that's all that matters. The Hybrid system has added approx 10mpg over and above our 1.5DSG Karoq. The boot maybe slightly smaller, but if I had my time again, I'd buy a Hybrid Renault Captur. p.s. Since we looked, Lexus has brought out a small SUV based on the Yaris Cross. The boot would have ruled it out for us, but by all accounts it's a better built thing. The base model, which come with lots of std equipment is priced on par with the Yaris Cross Excel, higher end models cost a fortune tho. However if you're buying on PCP, I've been told the Lexus comes out reasonably well.

OP''s car is a mere 4year old and 24k. At this rate it'll likely be 2032 before OP needs to think about DSG oil change. It'd be a bit mad if the majority of us owners were paying for a potential DSG oil change when few would ever need it.

The £30 a month is only when the plan is on special offer which typically happens three times a year. From memory they have one late summer which may be too late for your service. The std price is £37.50 Not quite sure why @Stonekeeper posted the T&C because you'd meet all of those. If you can't wait until there's a sale on then another option would be just a normal service plan. £20.50 a month. That'd exclude the spark plugs tho. but give two years servicing. They also do a service plus plan which does as above but this time includes the spark plugs. But that costs £28.25 a month. ( quick calculation - difference is £7.75 a month x 24 = £186. In other words, if you take the service plus plan, you're being charged £186 for spark plugs to be fitted ). What did I do? I think £186 is too expensive for spark plugs. I took out the ordinary 2yr service plan when it was on sale (£16) but £20.50 still isn't bad. if you factor in a spark plug change elsewhere then that 2yr service plan is costing the same as your dealer has quote you for one service !!! Sparkplugs ? If you can't fit them yourself then any garage can do so - just get quotes. It's not as if they need to be changed same time as the service, rather it's recommended they're changed. At 24,000 in four years, chances are your plugs are perfectly OK. Or you could go thru someone like Eurocar parts who''l supply and fit them for you. Should be around the £100 mark to supply and fit 4 spark plugs, hence the reason I say the standard 2yr service plan would work out cheaper. Hope that helps.

Can see where you're coming from but as per above, the first year tax was paid by the first owner. You'll be £190 for a full 12mth ( lucky ur picking up car on the 1st of the month ) I didn't realise until now it'd gone up again to £190. Well in my case, a different steering wheel and upgraded infotainment software hardly required a test drive ! A drive in the pre-facelifted Edition model with the same engine as my Sportline was all anyone needed to know exactly what the car would be like. If I were going for this new Kodiaq, I'd order without a test drive. It's not as if the engines are any different or there's a change to the suspension setup or the gearbox - it's essentially the very same car in different clothes. Let's face it, the biggest change only comes with the price and option list. As for it's just because you can say “look what I’ve got” I'm not saying that's why some people may chose it, but manufacturers have a habit of announcing upgrades when your car is already on order. The only reason I ordered a Kodiaq was because Skoda introduced a 2wd Sportline version ( at the time all Sportlines were at least 2L 4wd ).I didn't even realise it was a facelift. Or what if you're after a PHEV Kodiaq? You could say the same about folk who buy new cars - are they only buying it to keep up with the neighbours for a reg plate change? Do you? I think your standards are pretty low. I can't speak for anyone elses Kodiaq but the build quality on mine is such you need some force to edge the trim away from the carpet which means that even if you could get a cable under it ( it would have to be bell wire size ) there's a good chance of it being pinched. Besides, if it's a half decent camera, the cabling will be shielded so can't see it being thin. ( it would need to be shielded if it's running alongside existing car wiring ). OMG. If it is the door sill trims they're talking about then they're either complete idiots or what's more likely, they're fobbing you off. Of course they can be removed, it'd be a pretty stupid design if they couldn't ! Take a look at your seat belt. If there was an issue with your seatblet, how could the mechanics access it without removing that plastic trim ? 🤪 It just pops out. in fact it's easier to remove the trim than what skomaz suggested by tucking a cable under it. Most VW products are pretty much the same: Mk7 Golf sill trim removal Edit: Many folk complain about VW products but this is one area where you can see where the money goes. You can normally remove this trim panels many times without any sign of wear and tear. I installed a dashcam on a Toyota we bought last year and whereas they have a reputation for reliability, you ain't going to remove those panels many times - the plastics they use are cheap and nasty. Yes, it's very, very easy to tuck cabling under trim on a Toyota. FFS, some of the panels are held in place with plastic nut and bolts ! Remove the panels and you can see why Japanese cars are generally more reliable in the way the car is constructed, but the plastic trim itself 😲 Give me a VW product anyday.- MkII Kodiaq Order Book Opens

Where exactly are they mounting the rear dashcam? What sills are they talking about? I've installed the wiring for the factory rearview camera. Just pull off the plastic surround on the hatch, feed wires thru sleeve in to body of the car ( which is the trickiest part of the operation). With the factory rearview camera, the instructions were such I routed the cabling it as if it were installed in the factory, but if it's just a 6m cable for a 3rd party rear dashcam, if it were me I'd Just pull the trim off, feed the wire down the C pillar, go down to the boot and tuck it under the carpet along to the A pillar and then do what you have to do to hook it up to your front camera. I certrainly wouldn't be going anywhere near a main dealer as it's labour intensive, the whole operation took me a day, I'd have thought any reputable camera installation supplier would be able to do that much quicker. After all the Kodiaq is no different from any other VW product - I'd be asking if they've ever installed a rear camera into a VW or Audi? It's not as if they're rare ! It's all straightforward, just need some decent trim removal tools and plenty of patience. You're right I mis-read part of it but... ' It turned out that his insurer had paid out two claims made by the owners of cars his Alfa Romeo had collided with before the ultimate crash ' That's what I mean by I cannot understand why his insurers paid out. In the above case, I would have thought the 3rd parties insurance would have paid out to their clients and then when it's finally determined whoi caused they accident, it's the iliable driver's insurance who refund the 3rd parties insurers. - i.e. it would be Halfords (Aviva ) who pay. I can't understand why the Alfa drivers insurance has paid out two claims. - Road Tax on 6 months old Karoq
