  1. What an odd approach to buying a car. There are many who have never experienced kangarooing in a 1.5tsi Karoq - what about buying one of those? There have been many who've had the kangarooing issue and had the fix applied - why not buy one of those? Of course there are those who've had the kangarooing issue, had the fix applied and still not been satisfied. And I know from experience of speaking to the service mechanics there have been cars come in to the workshop where there is a kangarooing issue and the owners haven't complained because they weren't aware of it. The only way you're going to know is to drive the car. The issue didn't develop over time, it's either present or it's not. Regarding your purchase, I've just sold a lower miles 2019 Edition which is showroom perfect and certainly not the most expensive on Autotrader. Would I buy it? Absolutely not. I think the money they're asking for cars of this age is insane. All depends on how you intend to finance it. Do your sums and you might find buying a new car can be had for not a great deal more. If I were paying PCP, I wouldn't dream of buying a 3 or 4 year old car at the moment. Skoda just finished an extra £1000 off promotion - I wouldn't be surprised if that offer was available in the not too distant future as I think they're struggling to sell cars.
  2. I had the Edition so a few more fuses but still looks a tad bare to me. Does your rear window wiper work because the fuse is missing. Should be fuse 47 which is in the row below and one place to the left of that green 30amp fuse in your picture ( which is central locking ).
  3. I've just had a look at the latest online owners manual vs the 2019/07 owners manual that was relevant to my car and they look identical. The rear-wiper, ( fuse 47 ) is in exactly the same position. What photo did you see?
  4. Dunno about 2023 differences but in my 2019 I had it piggybacked with the rear wiper.
  5. European countries had safety requirements long before Brexit was in the English language and we didn't copy them. But what are these EU safety requirments you speak of? There are no mandatory safety kit requirements throughout EU member states. For example Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece etc are just like the UK in that carrying a hi viz jacket is not a legal requirement. Ireland have exactly the same safety requirments as us i.e. FA
  6. Was looking for a topic to highlight an observation I've made over the past week. "The tuth about electric cars" - seems perfect ! The UCI world championships are currently taking place and we've been watching as much of it live as we can. Of course when it comes to cycling, SKODA play a big role in sponsorship. There's lots of team cars running around the area at the moment and although Peter Vardy Kia has high profile sponsorship, many of the teams use their own sponsored Skodas. The Octavia estate seams to be the car of choice although there are plenty of Kodiaqs and the odd Karoq to be seen. But to us Skoda aficiados, the one car that is missing is the Enyaq. You might see the odd one being advertised / used in the shorter legs of the Tour de France, but for the longer sections - where are they? Last weeks Glasgow-Edinburgh mens elite race - not a single one. The shorter time trials currently taking place in Stirling - not a single one. And I suspect the same will be true for the Loch Lomond- Glasgow Womens elite this coming Sunday. So it'd appear that even the manufacturer doesn't have confidence in it's EV's for this particular task. If anyone has attended a cycling event then one reason might be these cars get hammered - it was like watching a touring car race as they whizzed around the streets of Glasgow. It may show off the acceleration of an EV but I'd have thought it'd cripple it's range. Thoughts?
  7. According to the Skoda website, right at this moment there are 99 new diesel SE-L estates available in the UK network or 128 new diesel hatches. So in answer to the question does Skoda want to sell new cars, it would appear so. Why not have a look at cars available for immediate delivery?
  8. might as well go off topic as there's nothing much to talk about cambelt changes on Karoqs now
  9. Funny, but just noticed today that when I brake, whether it be gentle or hard, I'm begining to feel a slight vibration thru the pedal, as if the brakes are pulsing. It's sort of like the ABS kicking in but without the noise and drama. Never felt anything like this before from the car and never had an issue on any VW group product before. Just wondering if the discs are beginning to warp? I drive like an old man ( because I am ) - I'm very gentle on the brakes. Could be caused by lack of use if anything ( but don't drive the car differently to any other I've owned ) but still, the discs should be better quality than that. Not long to it's 3rd birthday and we're not even at 12k miles. 🤪
  10. We're obviously looking at that from different angles. You look at a checklist and if the box has been ticked then you're happy. To be fair that's the majority view. I on the otherhand I only see a ticked box - it doesn't mean to say the work has been carried out. If it has then what standard? Do they stand at the other side of the garage, look over at the car and say that's the bodywork checked? Means nothing to me other than a box has been checked. If a service schedule says that a bodywork check is included and I hold a receipt to say I paid for said check, that 's no less evidence than the above checklist. Why do we want bodywork checks to be carried out anyway? We want them because in the case of some defect, we can say hey Skoda, the car you sold me has a manufacturing fault and I'd like a warranty repair please. The warranty company are never going to go in to detail looking at Skoda's checklist - they most certainly will do if the car was servicied outside the dealer network tho. All they want to know is was the service carried out at an authorised dealer. If the service record has been updated, then what's the point of a checklist for warranty repair? I'm only interested in what's wrong with my car, I don't need three pages worth of telling what's not wrong with it. I just sold my Karoq which included a glovebox full of these checks and warranty work I accumulated over the years. All in neat handover folders that were carried out by my local Skoda dealer. The dealer who bought the car from me didn't bother looking at any of it. When I pointed out the service paperwork he said "Aye" and that was as far as his interest went. The only time my service checklists have come in useful was when I sent to to MJ1 for this post
  11. I was under the impression the basic spec never had Sat Nav. 2020 was the year they changed systems as per above but... The subscription service is for updated stuff like local petrol prices and traffic jams etc but the maps themselves are continually updated over-the-air FOC.
  12. Thanks Silver2011, is that just in case I'd forgot since asking the question? If the fog has been pushed back a few mm, but the headlight hasn't, it suggests that perhaps some plastic tab on the unit has bent or sheared or whatever. Won't know until I look. Fingers crossed I should be able to bodge a repair. If it'd been the main headlight that had moved then that's a diffent matter. It could of course be just the clear plastic leans has moved inwards but there's not a mark on it. I can't really work out what's happened. Obviously something has scapped along the bumper and bitten in to bodywork, but if you look at the corner of the bumper where it meets the lens, theres a wee bit of damage in there as well. That suggests it hit the lens. As I say there shouldn't be any gap between the edge of the lens and bumper but it's about 3-5mm. The rest of the fog/headlight is perfect. It's as if that part of the bumper has popped out somehow but it hasn't lost any shape. The really weird thing is there are scratches at the bottom of the bumper too but not in the centre where it protudes the most. Might be something like a shopping trolley ( but it didn't happen in a car park ) or a pram or... I haven't a clue.
  13. 👍 kenny R. Brilliant. Will also check ebay. never thought of that.
  14. I thought I knew the market pretty well but this last week has confirmed to me it's bonkers. I bought a Karoq at the end of 2019. List price was a tad under £30k, I paid a tad under £25k after discounts. ( servicing over it's 1st two years cost £159 ) I sold it last week. Received offers starting from £19k ( from a Skoda dealer no less ), most were around the £22k, I sold mine for £22600. The car is now up for sale at the dealer for just over £25k, so in 3.7years, it depreciated a mere £2300 and is up sale £400 MORE than I paid for it. That's flipp'n bonkers. Of course being a used car, there's no decent PCP incentives and if taken on finance, there's no manufacturer backed lower rates. There's no servicing offers and over the next 3year will probably need new brakes and pads etc. It's a cracking car but I certainly wouldn't buy it at that price as a new one will probably work out cheaper, especially last month as there was another £1000 off it. Not sure what the lease figures would have been if I'd leased but lets say approx £350 a month. It'd have cost £15k to lease it over that time vs £2300 depreciation? That's just crazy. Ordered our new car at the start of the year for a similar discount as I achieved on the karoq. Around about April time, the market changed again and the discounts dried up from most manufacturers. No way could I have bought the car for the price we agreed at the start of the year. I took delivery of it this week. For heavens sake, they're advertising very low miles nearly new models for £4000 more than I paid for mine brand new. Some dealers will making extortionate amounts of money on used cars right now from those customers who don't shop around.
  15. Has anyone experience of removing a headlight from a Kodiaq or know where there's instructions or a video how to do it? Looks like someone has reversed in to my car. The bumper itself isn't out of shape but there's some nasty scratches that need repaired next to the fog light. It's been booked in to be repainted. Thing is I'm looking at it again and although the main headlight unit is perfect, the fog light looks as if it may have been pushed back a little- perhaps 5mm. I know the headlight / fog is one unit so just wondering if I'm able to adjust the fog back in to position or... I'm praying it doesn't have to be a whole new headlight. If the fog it is a little out of position then I may be able to do a bodge job. Have to admit this Kodiaq is picking up more little scrapes around the front bumper edges than just about every other car I've owned put together. Not sure if it's because of the sloping front - the bumper does protrude somewhat from the headlight. It's usually light scrapes from shopping trolleys or people brushing past it but this is defo something heavier that's gone in to it.
  16. Did MOT take place recently? Thought it would have mentioned the brakes and shocks even if just an advisory. What would I do? I'd book the car in for a free brake check. But if they did need doing: 1: I wouldn't pay Skoda main dealer prices and 2: Depends how old / what mileage is on your car, but why would I replace crappy discs and pads with the same crappy discs and pads? At my last services ( 2nd year service at 8000 miles on Kodiaq , and both 2nd and 3rd year service on the karoq ) they told my my discs were showing signs of wear around the edges. Seems std practice with all VW group vehicles. Of course if the discs are changed the pads need changing too. Aye right. I sold the karoq last week. It's now sitting on dealer forecourt and the discs are exactly the same ones they've been advising may need replacing for the past two years. Walk round any VW Group garage and look at the discs on their VW group used cars. Nuff said.
  17. Might be me not fully understanding your question but: 1. Full vehicle Road test - they ticked the box to say this was done. 2. Diagnostics - pretty obvious they ran diagnostics ( and crossing their fingers it would report a fault that needed £££s to fix ) 3. The tick sheet says they've tested the lights etc. If garages find something wrong with my cars then I want to know about it, but I don't see the point in a detailed report saying things are working perfectly well. A receipt and a stamp in the service book ( virtual or otherwise ) is my main goal. My tick sheets are a little longer than that but it means nothing to me. The dealers always write down the specific oil they used which I like. At the end of the day, all I'm after is a receipt and a stamp in the virtual service book to say the dealer carried out the correct service and to be notified of any problems.
  18. You may find some upgrades for std system but these usually exclude Canton, the reason being Canton uses a non-std amp to power the system. In other word you'd need speakers to either match the Canton amp or replace the amp but then you're into all sorts of issues with the infortainment software controlling it. Much easier to just replace the tweeter. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure if the Canton speakers are any different from the std speakers, it's just the amp driving them is different. I hve no issues re:door panels. If they've been removed before it may be they haven't been re-attached properly or some of the door wiring hasn't be re-routed properly.
  19. Dunno but I'd be very surprised if the manufacturer sold you just the pen clip! More likely you'd have to replace the whole glovebox lid. I may of course be wrong. Me? I'd be searching in breaker yards.
  20. Just noticed you guys have a 2020 and 2021 Kodiaq. Has the software update been applied to your systems? The problematic software affected early MIB3 equipped units. Your Skoda dealers should be aware of this. In their wisdom Skoda didn't contact owners rather contacted dealers and said 'apply this if there's a problem'. Such an inefficient way to run an operation.
  21. I'm just loving that law. Say you drive with 2 people on board, then pick up another two on your journey, then pick up another two further on. You all go off to your destination and on the way back, drop them off again. I'm I supposed to carry a portable pump with me and adjust the tyres accordingly each time someone gets in/out the car? If there is such a law then obviously it's impractical for our private cars.
  22. Take a look at rear 3/4 view of say a Sportline model vs Scout and you'll see the scout bumper sits slightly proud hence the need for a different size mudflap. We're only talking millimeters but I couldn't get the screw holes to line up on the Ateca, that's how I discovered the parts dept had ordered the wrong flaps for my car.
  23. They certainly shouldn't be the same or they wouldn't look flush. The plastic wheel arch sits slightly proud of the bodywork - basically it's a thin piece of plastic which is held on by double sided sticky tape mounted on to the body work. So where the mudflap meets the bottom of the arch, you're obviously going to require two different flaps for it to look flush - one that's flush with the body work and another that has to take into account the thickness of the trim. We're only talking a few millimeters though. You certainly wouldn't be able to see the difference in thickness from any of those photos as they're lying flat down. You need to rotate then 90 degrees so they're standing up. I had to replace the wheel arch trim on a Seat Ateca and I can assure you the SEAT flaps are different because the parts dept. ordered up the wrong ones.
  24. I wouldn't be able to stop myself thinking of Mr Creosote if I were to put more than 40psi in to car tyres. I haven't a clue how car manufacturers work it out, but airlines will use approx 85kg for the average male when working out weights. So unless you're carrying around 600kg worth of people, I'm not sure I'd bother about max weight. ( good luck carrying two 85kg adult males in the rear most seats for any length of time. ) I'll add a few psi if we're going on a long journey with a car full of holiday gear but otherwise I don't bother changing pressures.
  25. Hi. Just taken a look at your history file as I'm sure I'd replied to you before. Did you take my advise and register with a different email address? I have as much a clue about how Skoda's Connect system works as I have about quantum physics, but I do have a stong IT background, and everything that happened to me and from what I read about happening to others points to your email address being blocked. I don't care what Skoda says, resetting systems and deleting accounts doesn't appear to wipe the registered email account from their system. It's almost as if it's written in to hard memory and cannot be wiped. I had the same problem, no matter what I did, I couldn't re-register my original email address. I used a different address which had never been registered with Skoda's system before and everything went thru, no problem. Not saying it'll defo work but at least give it a try. Good luck.
