  1. Not sure what Skoda says but if we take something like VW Golf Mk7 I had which during it's production run, could be ordered with a150 1.4 ACT engine and the 1.5 ACT engine which superceded it. The belt part number is exactly the same for both engines. That same belt is getting on for 10yr and it's the exact same story - plenty of theory written about catastrophic failures but very little evidence of the belt going 'pop'. Anyway that's not the point - if a manufacturer recommend something and you chose to ignore it then it's as good as waving goodbye to any future goodwill. Will be very interesting to see if their UK policy has indeed changed.
  2. Perhaps I'm reading this wrong but are you saying all of those were included at your serive last month? I may be completely wrong, but if you are, then I was under the impression the pollen filter change and extended scope occurred in alternate years - i.e. the two never occured on the same service. Someone with more knowledge than me might be able to answer that one.
  3. It never helps when everyone isn't singing off the same hymm sheet. If there is a recent change then it wont have had time to circulate. Lots of updates or even new models to the UK market take ages to circulate amongst dealers. VAG have a very inefficient way of communicating, that's for certain. As I keep saying everytime the word 'life' is mentioned, the life of what? The belt, the engine, the car, the owner? Unless the word 'life' is defined then it's meaningless. Ask 10 people what the life of the belt is and you'll get 10 different answers. Given the sums involved, I'd suggest the majority of cars have gone past the 5yr recommendation. So how many posts are there where owners have complained of the belt going 'snap'? I'm not aware of any, I'm certainly not aware of UK belts being less efficient that anywhere else. If there are any posts then it's very rare.
  4. Just reading your posts over the past 24hr or so and come to the conclution you're just pee'd off at your employer downgrading your car. Who in their right mind can complain at the size of the boot in a Kamiq? You seriously not comparing it to the cars you list are you? It's a small SUV, of course ababy seat in the boot is going to fill it up, what else would anyone be expecting? Name the cars in your budget that you'd recommend. As per your previous replies over the past 24hr, I strongly suggest you're comparing apples with pears. I haven't personally tried this engine/gearbox combo in a Kamiq but I have in the larger heavier SEAT Ateca and was so impressed I wanted to order it. Unfortunately neither the trim level in that Ateca or the Karoq which I bought after it offered the 1.0tsi DSG so I ended up buying a 1.4tsi and 1.5tsi thereafter. IMO honest opinion, the 1.0tsi would have been my preferred option. Some of you may remember many moons ago a short series about the company car driver ( or was it motorway driver? I forget Think it was back in the 90's). Anyway there were these sales guys wating on their new company cars and the cameras followed them as they picked them up - all the bog std rep mobile stuff - Cavalier, Mondeo, Passat. Anyway, they interviewed one guy who's dream car was a red Vauxhall Calibra but he'd heard rumours his company were now ordering Rovers. So what would it be a 600? MG Montego? As the cameras followed him to head office, he was almost in tears when they showed him his car - one of the last Maestro's in basic spec. ( it may have been a 1.3 from memory ). That program was the first thing that entered my head when reading your posts today. Are you sure you're not sore at your employer rather than it being the car's fault? Nobody in the market for a small bodied + small engine auto SUV should have the disappointments you're having. EDIT: Ha Ha. been looking on youtube for past 30mins ( I have a sad life ). Found it ! Broadcast 30 years ago ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQsMFQZa8os If there was ever a program that summed up our crazy British attitude class then this has to be it. A bunch on nobodies thinking they're something just because they drive a particualr car. And I'm one of them ! We're all one of them ! Why? This attitude doesn't really exist to the same extent elsewhere in the world. 🤣
  5. R-line? What gets me about posters like this they always blame tools rather than themselves. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I'm not criticising the driving style one little bit, but I am questioning what anyone considering a 1.0tsi DSG powering an SUV is expecting from their car? It's obviously the wrong car for you. Nobody in the market for a 1.0tsi auto SUV should be expecting the performance the OP clearly is. Begs the question what are you comparing it to? I suspect you're comparing apples to pears. Whatever the pros and cons of a Kamiq 1.0tsi are, then unless there's something seriously wrong with his particular engine, none of the above applies.
  6. Data Protection! Who's data are they protecting giving out information on what's covered under breakdown warranty? It's not specific to you nor your car, it's a general query. It's too stupid a reply for me to believe that was their response to your question. Sounds more like there's been a complete misunderstanding. What exactly did you ask them? Did they not supply you with a breakdown cover booklet with your car? Every car I've ever bought comes with some sort of handover pack.
  7. It's the only thing than made sense. It may be as simple as the original battery wasn't seated correctly when installed. Of course it could have been a duff battery.
  8. Yes if Sportline then it'll still have the same 9.2" touchscreen. I wish they'd retained the CD player in the facelift. There's certainly less problems wth the infotainment software on pre-facelift cars. Even after software updates, the newer MIB3 systems still have a tendancy to throw a wobbly now and again. We also have a 2019 Karoq which has the same infotainment system as the Sportline you're going to see - it's coming up to 4 years old and never once had an issue with the infotainment in that - overall it's a better system.
  9. Deliveries of the mild facelift didn't appear in UK until late August / Sept 2020. Depends on what model you're going for as to what the changes were but in general the steering wheels were updated and the infotainment system overhaulled - not allways for the better tho. They gained things like wireless Android Auto and USB-C type adapters but lost out on CD player and SD card. Upgrades are now done 'over-the-air' rather than via SD card as before. Bottom line - you're not really loosing out on anything major going for the pre-facelift.
  10. 1. You need to confirm the majority of advertised prices online as often they're not what they seem. The advert you pointed to gives no details of their offer so it maybe a strategy to get you interested and call them. Is that their cash price, does it include Skoda's PCP contribution? That advert is all but meaningless to be honest. 2. A broker's advertised price is just that - no negotiating 3. A dealer's price is negotiable. I've bought three Skodas, all from franchised dealerships, and they've all been compeditive with the best prices I've found from brokers online. 4. What constitutes a good deal may be good for one person but not for the next - all depends on how you intend to pay for the car - is it cash? finance? lease? As I say, it's best to know the exact car you're looking for then if you're prepared to be flexible on options and colour and delivery date that's often the best way to get your a good price. I normally keep an eye on the nearly new / new market and for what it's worth, I'm not too sure there are any what I'd personally regard as good deals out there right now. For whatever reason it is, many manufacturers aren't desperate to sell as they've nearly all cut back on offers. If it's a new Octavia you're after then in my book they're all overpriced right now. £1000 contribution from PCP is rubbish on such a car with that level of depreciation and their 2yr service plan is £249. SO there aren't any great offers to be had buying new to be honest. If it's a Skoda you're after then It's probably better to use someone like CarWOW at the moment to get a price.
  11. Spy shots are only of use to those who've never seen inside another Skoda. A real spy would take a picture of this new screen cleaner thingy... 🤣
  12. You say you're looking for an automatic but the car you reference is manual. Skoda do not offer a 1.5 in auto in SE trim. Best thing to do is go to the Skoda configurator and build the ideal car then look for offers. Edit - if the car is just for general use, i.e. it's not always full of people or you're not towing anything, then test drive the 1.0 engine which does come in Auto form.
  13. If you google "Skoda extended warranty", it returns: Extended warranty booklet If you google "Skoda breakdown", it returns: Breakdown cover Download the appropriate booklet from each website if you want a detailed answer.
  14. That's after MJ1 wrote: The Paperwork I had when I signed up did not mention it directly as excluded. Included below is the Excluded section... I'm confused. Why are people are looking at the 'excluded' list to see whats included? Why not just look at the 'included' list?
  15. You may already be aware of this so apologies if you are, but sign up to their motoring club ( free ) and you'll get £5 off that fluid change. They also have a Premium club ( costs £49 ) which includeds £10 voucher + 5% off which makes brake fluid £37.50 + includes an MOT ( useless if you're taking All-in-1 tho ). But keep checking special offers. Last year I checked hotukdeals.com and received further money off. Using all the offers the MOT cost £24 at National ( part of Halfords ) and fluid change was something like £39. You can usually find someone doing an offer - you just missed one from ATS.
  16. Vague? Perhaps I don't see things from other peoples point of view but I thought the All-in-1 offer was very clear. ( which is very un-Skoda like for once ! ). https://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/all-in-service-plan 2 services ( equal to one minor, one major ), 2 MOT's, breakdown recovery for 2years and 2yr warranty. What's the problem? If there's anything not listed wouldn't the default assumption be it's NOT part of the offer? PS - Save £75 on brake fluid? You can get it much cheaper than that if you shop around.
  17. I don't know what they mean, but I'd be amazed if it's any more efficient than a Halfords microfibre cloth 🤣 Cleaning whilst screen is on? I can only see mucky fingerprints when the screen is blank, I don't notice them when the unit is on. When you think about it, we all use our smartphones way more than the infotainment screen but I never have to clean my phone screen anywhere near as much as the screen in the car. Answers on a postcard!
  18. As before, haven't a clue but would have thought opening the car via KESSY using one key and closing via KESSY using another key is only adding to the confusion. Keep it simple - let garage work out why you can't either open or close car using the 'bad' key. When is it booked in for?
  19. Making its Kodiaq debut is a rear storage compartment with a cup holder on the central tunnel as well as a display cleaner for the touchscreen displays A display cleaner for touchscreen displays? I have one of those on my 2020 Kodiaq which sits in the otherwise useless cubby under the lightswitch. I believe the technical term is called ' a cloth'. Simply Clever.
  20. Nope. Had three 19" Crators refurbished, two done at home in repairers mobile van, the third had to be taken offsite for a little more work. Forget the actual amounts, something like £60 for onsite repair per wheel and £100 for the wheel that had to go back to his repair shop. I was very impressed with the results, all three looked just like new. Have no experience of having wheel powder coated but given the majority of wheel damage is due to kerbing with potholes coming a close 2nd, I fail to see how powder coating them would provide any additional protection.
  21. You don't have your car in your profile so don't know how old it is, but your 'syncing' issue sounds a classic case of software needing updating. How old is your car? Have you had the latest software patch installed? I had personalisation setup in both my old Octavia ( 2017 ) MIB2 and the Kodiaq ( MIB3 ). After the keys have been setup, I've never had an issue - each key has always retained it's settings. The trouble is with the latest MIB3, setting it up was just so unintuative. From memory I think I first needed to register each key user thru connect, but once setup, I'm not sure it uses connect or any external source? I don't think it does but someone with more knowledge than me may know. I no longer subscribe to any connect functionality but the different keys have no issues knowing what they're supposed to do.
  22. Thats so weird. Not familiar with the latest Karoq if it's still two or four. KESSY only works with door handles that have those little indent marks so easy to tell. The reason I suggested it is on rare occasions, I'll be unable to unlock one of my rear doors using my hand. I suspect it's that handle that's at fault, but unlike you, it's so infrequent it's not worth bothering about. I only ever use the one key so have no idea if that has any part to play. Please update the thread when the dealer has invesigated - intrigued to know what the cause is. It defies all logic.
  23. If your car has the 'personalisation' functionality ( you'd be supplied with three keys ) then you can assign your key to always start up the a/c in LO and another key for the a/c to start where ever you assign it. Other than that then best looking for a direct replacement switch panel on ebay.
  24. +1 I have both a KESSY Karoq with the older system and a KESSY Kodiaq with the newer system and they do work slightly differently. But this is a 2023 car and in any case, the KESSY disabling should reset itself once the door is unlocked. I may have read the original post wrong. I thought pressing the unlock button on the 'wrong' key couldn't unlock the car. But it's when you try to unlock the car using KESSY after having locked it with the 'wrong' key you're having problems? Just a thought to diagnose the problem a little further - does the same happen on all doors? I'm assuming the newer Karoqs than mine have KESSY on all four doors? ( it's all four on my Kodiaq but just front two doors on our 2019 Karoq ). What happens if you try to unlock any of the other doors using your hand? ( KESSY )
