Kodiaq 2.0 TSI Edition DSG [7 Seat]
Remember, the price of the 2.0Tsi SEL Exec which is nearest new option to an Edition is now almost £43k BEFORE options which means that even if discounts are taken into account, it will attract a near £600 VED rate. So unfortunately for us, a £26k price tag may not be unreasonable in the current climate. Tip: Put the car registration in to a few car buying websites like 'WebuyAnyCar' and 'WeWantAnyCar' ( describe it accurately ), take the average and that's a good indication how much the dealer paid for it. Then add no more that £3000 ( which the dealer needs as a mark up to cover costs + profit ) and that's roughly what the forecourt price should be. If the £26k price they're selling it for is around or below that figure then it's unlikely they'll budge. They may need to sell it rather than want to sell it, so a big discount could be available. A £3000 discount tho? I'd be amazed if they did but there's no harm in asking.

Kodiaq 2.0 TSI Edition DSG [7 Seat]
I know little about the 2.0Tsi - I'm sure others will confirm or not, but I was under the impression a 2.0Tsi was chain driven. So if looking for a car around that age, that's one worry / bill you may not have to worry about. I'm sure the OP meant it's the least popular engine. If you go by Autotrader, roughly half of all Kodiaqs for sale are Petrol and of those, roughly 1 in 4 are 2.0tsi, an engine which has been available since launch. OP - The irony is if you want a car at that money, you're going to have to buy something that's not popular. As someone said above, if you're looking at a car of that age and mileage then a Tarraco is much better value for money.

Accident Write Off.
Where was the dealership, Royston Vasey? 🤣🤣 Just reading your post. Whatever you decide to do, my advice is not to put yourself under any pressure. As long as you're certain that the 3rd person's insurer will pay out, ( that's to say you'll have a no-fault claim against your name ) then although your insurer will only pay for a hire car for the next few days, that's not to say their insurer isn't liable for additional costs. If you have legal cover then it's worth having a word with your insurer otherwise have a word with their insurer. At the end of the day you could quite rightly submit a claim for a rental car as out-of-pocket expenses as a result of the accident. Their insurer may have an arrangement for reduced fees with a rental company therefore it may be beneficial for them to arrange a rental car for you. It's always worth speaking to them. This is an area where those no win, no fee or ensurance or ambulance chasing solicitors excel. It really sucks when something like this happens but you should be able to claim reasonable expenses if you weren't deemed at fault. What really sucks is If the other person has no insurance, then it may still be regarded as a fault claim - i.e. your insurance were unable to recover the money. Good luck.

I prefer a real tint
Or attracts peeping Toms - depends how you look at it ( exuse the pun ). If you think about it, you'd have to have stuff on display in the first place in order to hide it behind tinted glass. Nothing wrong with vanity but if anyone says it's for security, they're only fooling themselves. I have to say tho, having dark tints in the rearmost seats. I'd have thought that claustophobic. I'm sure I read on Briskoda sometime ago about their passengers feeling car sick with extra tinted windows. At least with blinds you haven't put all your eggs in the one basket. ( that's a feable attempt at an Easter pun ) I remember reading someone on Briskoda recommended the company carshades. I quite liked the idea of these but as I say, it'd make the rearmost area very dark. Even the sunroof doesn't extend that far back.

Buying a new Fabia on PCP right to withdraw
I thought that's what you were trying to say. Next question before I respond - have you ever settled a PCP yourself? If you have then how long in to the PCP was it before you requested a settlement figure? Edit: another question I've just thought about. How much of an early settlement fee were you charged? I seem to recall asking this question before to someone but here goes again. Can you or anyone reading this produce the wording on the PCP which talks about 14 day cooling off and/or exit fees.

Buying a new Fabia on PCP right to withdraw
Unless I'm mistaken, the implication of what you say is settlement of a PCP is free of charge anytime within the first 14 days, thereafter a charge is applied for settling the PCP. Is that correct?

I prefer a real tint
You've got to be joking. Tinting the glass means it'll cost more to replace. Statistically, aftermarket mods are more likely to attract claims. Adding go faster strips makes sod all difference to the safety or performance of a car but statistically Mr Boring Joe Average doesn't do that - it's only done by people who're a greater risk of claims therfore you could find insurance rises ( quite substantially in certain cases ) for even the most mundane and innocent of modifications. Insurance is based on risk. If someone has limo tints that means they have something to hide. Or if it makes the car stand out from the crowd, then it's more attractive to theives.

Now there's a politicians answer if I ever heard one 🤣 You may never have been asked 'has the car been modified', but it's almost certain you signed a finance agreement with wording that says you cannot modify the car without the owners permission.

New UK brochure and prices April 2023
They've probably got rid of the 'basic' VC and the upgraded VC is now standard. The electric seats option normally causes confusion. Even the salesman I ordered the car from didn't realise it! Electric seats ( plural ) means adding an additional passenger seat rather than the two seats. Just another one of these things lost in translation. The whole VW group used to be guilty of that misunderstanding.

Just having a look at the options again. Sleep pack - It still costs the same £365 as it did back in 2020. But back then the sleep pack included 'acoustic' glass for the rear windows. When did they drop the acoustic glass option? My mistake. That extra tax is £390 from April '23 so annual VED on the majority of new Kodiaqs sold in the UK wil be £570. There's still no Canton... And the mad pricing of rear window blinds still exists. £225 for blinds or £200 for a family pack which includes those blinds. There must be some reason behind the continuation of this anomaly but I'm damned if I can even hazard a guess why. Family pack - in addtion to the blinds, the door protectors and most useless trash bin ever ( which if bought on it's own has increased from from £30 to £40 ), I see no mention whatsoever in the brochure or the configurator of the electric child lock - the ability to lock/unlock the rear doors from the drivers seat. Wasn't that one of the main reasons we'd specify the 'family' pack? So is that another option that's been dropped? When you start picking your way thru those options, the Kodiaq has become even less of an attraction. And that's before we consider price increases.

Significant price rises in just a few years. Yes it's crappy but no different from most other things we buy. You could argue that used prices have risen as well so that all important 'cost-to-change' remains relatively consistant therefore there's no real impact for most of us. What I find alarming is here in the UK, how many Kodiaqs now qualify for the luxury car tax. Buy the cheapest grade SE Drive is diesel guise and you might just be able option metallic paint b4 being charged that extra VED. Standard VED is now £180, but the majority of Kodiaqs sold here will now attract the extra £370 per year. That's £550 per year folks... One of the deciding factors for my last car was being under that £40k list price. If I were buying the car today and was compelled to pay £550 a year, I wouldn't buy a Kodiaq. Skoda has lost it's mojo.

Have zero experience of the Superb but they do on the Kodiaq. Why did you find them a faff? They're always in the raised position on my car - I never have to touch them. How much did the paint cost you on your last car? According to the earliest price list I have ( 16th June 2020 ) red metallic on a SEL was £975. Today the price is £1045, that's a mere £70 increase. I might be doing us sterotypical Scotsmen a bad service when I say I don't notice £70 when I've just forked out near £40k on a car. 🤣 Just out of curiosity, didn't you say elswhere the car was bought on PCP or was leased? So what happens when you want to do things like tint windows? Do you have to ask permission from the car owner? If it's not a factory extra I know you certainly have to inform the insurer. It's things like that I find a faff.

Not for me I'm afraid. To my eyes, poverty blue makes it look like it's the base model that's spent a few hours at Halfords. If we're talking aesthetics, my money would gone toward metallic paint. Rather than go for tints ( for which the insurer needs to be informed as it's a mod ) I optioned the family pack. Same effect when you raise the blinds. ( family pack is or at least used to be cheaper than going for just blinds alone ).

Lane assist is dangerous
From someone who's just said they deliberately stamp on their brakes when the car behind gets too close? "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool rather than to speak and remove all doubt" .

Diesel or Petrol
Thought you were going to say something along those lines. A DPF clogging up relates to how a car is driven, regardless of mileage. The OP says half of his daily commute is on motorways. Are you seriously suggesting he should take in to account the DPF clogging up? Stop scaremongering.

You can't get away with that without offering an explanation.

Diesel or Petrol
Curiosity is getting the better of me. What makes you say 40mpg from a tsi needed for it to work for you? What sort of mpg are you expecting from the tdi? When I was calculating the costing a few years ago, the fact tdi Kodiaqs are not very fuel efficient questioned their viability for me. If you need low down pulling power then fine, no problem, but if it's just down to economics, I'd worked it out that I'd have to be covering huge mileages for a tdi to benefit. That said, it all depends on how the car is used. We're all different so I'm sure my average mpg is different from others who use their cars to travel short distances. Only real way to find out is see if you can get a 24hr or extended test drive and make a direct comparisson over your typical journey. I have the 1.5 In my experience, the MPG on say a 40mile journey generally isn't that impressive at this time of year. It's only really over 40 miles that the mpg starts to creep up. As I say we're all drive different but in free flowing traffic with a light load, I'm disappointed to see anything under 40mpg on an 80mile journey at the moment. Fuel economy is good for me on motorway but have to admit that the mpg tails off significantly when the car goes faster than 65mph. It's very good in free flowing traffic but again, when you say heavy traffic - my 1.5 economy hates heavy traffic. Thing is that whether it's just me or me + three passangers and our sports clutter, the economy doesn't seem to change that much. a few mpg at the very most I'd say. I don;t really notice any difference in performance but then again, I'm no Damon Hill.

Buying a new Fabia on PCP right to withdraw
The answer you're looking for is yes but your reasoning is wrong. What you are doing is 'settling' the PCP. The right to withdraw in 14days only applies to those 'cancelling' finance. You can settle a PCP on the 13th day, the 14th day or the 15th day. Or even the 115th day - makes no difference. If you're settling within 14days then there should be little or no interest accumulated. You'lll be charged something like £30 or thereabouts which includes an administration fee. Not sure what the situation was like in 2019 but these days it's all done online. You can access your finance agreement - just request a settlement figure and that should be guaranteed ( i.e. no additional interest ) for the next 4weeks. Hope that helps.

Why did I buy this car!
I'm guessing your car has the MIB3 system which made it's debut in 2020 models. If your car has no CD player in the glovebox / has two USB type-C outlets as opposed to a usb type-A, then it's an MIB3 system. Ask your local dealer check if the infortainment software update patch has been applied - all dealers should be aware of this. Early MIB3 systems suffered several odd characterisitcs - the updated software rectifies this. The upgrade was only carried out when owners reported the system playing up rather than the car being recalled. If you bought your car from a Skoda dealer then they really should have upgraded that software before selling it. I had a few odd things happen in my car, they applied that upgrade last year, it's worked 100% since.

225 55 18 on a Karoq
The direct answer to that is no. I believe the general rule is that when changing tyres sizes, you should not exceed the original diameter by 1.5%. If you simply go from 50 to 55 on the same 225 x 18 spec, that'll give you a 3.1% change which takes you well outside the tollerances. In other words, you'd have to recalibrate the speedo if you want to go from 50 to 55 on the same 225 x 18 tyre. My advice would be that whatever you may read on forums, at the end of the day you'll need to inform your insurer if you want to change tyre sizes. In most cases they may accept or ask an additional premium for modifying from factory specs, but under no circumstances will they cover you if the modifaction makes the car illegal.

DSG - which gearbox and oil change
Best thing to do is ask that dealer what gearbox you have. Also ask them what the oil change intervals are, how much it'll cost and then report back here BEFORE giving them the go ahead. By the way, what main dealer told you this?

New Karoq owner
That's certainly a new one on me. What idiot came up with the idea of adjusting headlights via a slider on a touchscreen? That's a cost cutting measure too far IMO. I was always under the impression there was a legal requirement for both LED and Xenon headlights to be self levelling. Obviously I was wrong. Looking at the online brochures, for my MY19 car, the manual specifically states that this adjustment only relates to Halogen headlights - Full LED headlights auto-adjust. Looking at MY21 cars, the owners manual says exactly the same thing. Looking at the very latest manual, December '22, the wording has changed to... Headlight range control Applies to headlights with adaptive functions. In dynamic cornering light, the headlight range control is adjusted automatically. So from that I'm assuming they've downgraded the LED's and left auto adjustment to the £2000 optional extra Matrix LED's. 😲 Skoda is rapidly loosing it's value for money mojo.

Karoq or Tiguan
I've never had an issue with space in Karoq. Observation 1: My car has picnic tables for rear seat passengers which are never used but eats in to knee room. If you're after rear space it's best not to have a car with picnic tables. Observation 2: If you select a car with vario-flex rear seats then you have various options. If you have two baby seats in the rear then the middle seat is pretty much useless anyway. With varioflex you could remove middle seat altogether, place your buggy length ways and have loads of room left over in the trunk. Or have stroller in the boot and pile up the space where the middle seat is with all the bags etc that go along with two small children. In this repect, you'll find the Karoq will have more available space than the Tiguan.
