  1. Good morning all. Having looked online with regard to my next DSG oil and filter interval I am still unsure due to conflicting information. Is it still every 40k or is it now every 4 years please? I never drive in a town or city only on traffic free country roads so I get to 6th quickly. Car is currently on 59k, DSG was done at 30k just over 4 years ago. Thanks.
  2. This forum also saved me a fortune by fixing my Germanic speaking head unit. Very helpful bunch indeed.
  3. Your new ones sound great, any pics please? There is a wheel specialist in Inverness but they are not cheap.
  4. Thought about a refurb job but the nearest place will require an overnight stay whilst they are done, which makes the cost go right up. Will keep looking for a set though.
  5. Hi Toot. Just to expand on your comments, these wheels look like they expose as much of the brake calipers and hub as the Themisto ones do at the moment. Please correct me if I am wrong mate. My other option is to get them refurbished.
  6. Ah, thanks for that. My hubs do have a bit of the Skoda rust....
  7. Evening all. My Themisto wheels are a bit scuffed and the previous owner had a fondess for kissing curbs, they are starting to look rather tired and have the odd yellow tinge in some corners. There are hardly any curbs where I live so I am wanting new ones as the car is in mint condition otherwise and I hate dirty alloys. I am not paying new prices on the Skoda ones so I found a set very similar online and wanted your opinions. My Superb is Silver. Your thoughts please.
  8. Its a black dipstick that is supposed to highlight a dark fluid with no min or max markings. My previous cars had silver ones with clear markings. Just my opinion.
  9. I hope you are enjoying it. Best cure for a cold up here...
  10. FYI The car took just under 1/2 litre in the end. Exactly half way up the hashes on the jet black, badly designed dipstick. Thanks Varooom.
  11. My Check Oil Level symbol came on earlier as I started the car, first time in any car I have owned, maybe its an age thing. Drove it the 12 miles home. I have the appropriate oil but no idea how much to top up, cannot find it in the manual etc. I know you are going to say keep adding until you hit the correct marker on the dipstick, but it's now dark here and the dipstick is black, of course, and it's now raining. Mine is a 2.0 tsi 2012, code CCZA. As a side note its the first top up in just under 10k, last service, pretty good I think considering it's reputation. I would just like to pour the correct amount in...I need to drive it soon. Any help gratefully received.
  12. I feel for you mate. The genuine part is expensive but worth it for quality and longevity. I would highly recommend getting a pro to do it as they are hellish to fit. My mechanic was very kind to me and only charged me two hours labour although I knew it was longer.
  13. Quick update. Collected my car earlier, they did it a day earlier due to wanting to finish a bit earlier tomorrow. All working perfectly although we are now having Pot Noodle and Highland Spring Christmas day now. On the plus side I can now feel the wind and rain on my bald head whilst driving. Lesson learnt.
  14. Good evening all. It was -2c as I turned the car on this morning at 0710, I was tired, could not see out the drivers side so I did the one thing I shouldn't have....and pop, the cable went and wrapped itself around the motor. I did the same thing in my passat, the second I pushed the switch I knew I was an idiot. Again. Having spent 2.5 hours putting a new regulator in years ago, purchasing a riveter for the speaker and swearing at the car constantly I decided to simply call the local indy, new one from Skoda going in at £126 + vat on the 22nd. At least it broke whilst up not down! The moral is, if its freezing out and you park 50ft from the North Atlantic, DO NOT push that switch people, resist all temptation. Moron.
  15. Hahaha. That is very true. Eric has been very helpful though and the refund offer for the old one was generous. Varooom saved me a big payout.
  16. Good afternoon all. I have a very happy update with regard to my Germanic speaking non working head unit. After being minutes away from handing over £299 on Saturday night I thought I would read this thread again as one last try. I reached out to Varooom who asked me a couple of current software questions, I had SW 3984, he sent me a link to download and burn to disk. My IT chap at work did it, my laptop has no drive, rare these days eh. I installed it earlier, followed his instructions and 54 minutes later it was fully updated and me very very happy indeed, never thought hearing Coldplay would make me smile. It was still in German, i changed it back to English easily, everything was still on the HDD, nothing deleted. So from a write off to a totally free fix, with Varoooms help, in less than 24 hours. Thank you Varooom and to all that have advised. I love this site.
  17. The car is 10 years old and if only the head units hard drive has gone then I am one of the lucky ones. Thank you for help Varoom. Graham
  18. I am buying it this weekend. Will let you know how it works out. Just got back from the supermarket, 24 mile round trip and just listened to the wind and rain....miss the music. Not even the AUX to phone works. Graham
  19. That's excellent news. Everything working OK? When you inserted the disc did you get prompts on screen may I ask? Graham
  20. Hello John.
  21. I hope the update works out for you mate. On the plus side I know a lot more German now....
  22. Evening. I have given up on mine, nothing worked so I am buying a refurbished one mine is a 3t0035680E and am getting a K one with all the updates, plug and play with no coding. Not having the radio on long island drives in the dark is a tad boring. Good luck with updates everyone.
  23. Hi Rileybloke. My screen is exactly the same, I am going to search SWL Disc tonight and hopefully purchase one. The reset does nothing.
  24. I have tried the reset option, just asks for SWL disc, will see if I can find one online. Really not happy paying the asking price for a new head unit but need the radio and HDD music, have never used the satnav since buying it nor the phone option.
