Well the 19” Craters went for a refresh at www.fixawheel.co.uk. Full chemical strip and then powdercoated in a delightful shade of dark grey. Very happy how they turned out. l’ll be selling my winter wheels shortly which are Škoda Mytikas 18 x 7j with 7mm of Nokian tread, which incidentally have an almost identical rolling diameter as the Craters! Expect a full advert with pictures in a few weeks!

Chris, Do you mean MY21?

I have the genuine Skoda Dog Guard specifically for Varioflex seats (57A017221A) picked up on EBay for £75 - brand new and boxed. Fitting may deter many, dealer quoted £300+ to fit! Came with full instructions and templates to mark where to cut holes in the roof lining and boot trim. I just needed to buy a 25mm hole saw and I already had a rivnut tool (Bottle cage inserts on my bike). Pre-drilled holes in roof and boot sides. Fitting took me just under 3 hours taking each step very carefully and the only downside was a stiff back from lying in the boot! Ibuprofen sorted that! It is a quality piece of kit, solid as a rock and absolutely no rattles or creaks. Unlike some of the aftermarket guards it does not intrude into the boot floor, the retractable boot cover remains in place and fully usable and the guard can be removed completely in a couple of minutes via 4 knurled knobs. My Karoq is a ten year keeper, like my much loved Yeti and I think that probably swung the decision. We use a crate in the Fabia, which we used to swap between cars.

Columbus Map Update 2022 (MIB1/2 HIGH)

Perhaps this is why I'm struggling to update from the Skoda portal via my Mac using 'Unarchiver' to unzip? Always worked in the past. Frustration is winning - might have to get a chum to d/l it on a Windows machine?- 116 replies

https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com Follow the guidance here. 🤙

Don't copy the folder to the SD card, just the relevant contents.
-
I'm a Mac user too, successfully updated some weeks ago!
-
A suitable SD card will set you back less than a tenner - there are numerous posts on here detailing how to update the system, it may take a while depending on your internet speed! https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com Just put your VIN in and follow the instructions. Good luck!

It is - once you release the glove box lid!

Obviously not on the Call Centre staff 'script'! Sadly as this is an outsourced service, (Along with all the other VAG marques) anything out of the ordinary needs to be escalated! What irritates me is the dogmatic responses from some of the operatives, whose familiarity with some Skoda features is sadly lacking! I wonder if Skoda UK actually ever monitor the quality of Capita's 'customer service' ? Private Eye refers to it as 'Crapita'

My winter wheels have just come off - each one is clearly marked with its location! My local tyre supplier http://www.jefffowkes.co.uk does this for me, and has done for many years. Although a simple job to swap wheels over, its reassuring to have a competent mechanic check and report anything untoward. Half an hours labour seems a fair price to save doing it myself.

Worth closely checking the alloy rims for marks - not unknown for them to be 'caught' on unloading from transporter. It's ball ache for dealers to rectify and once you take the car away, you won't have a leg to stand on! Happened twice to me - both times on collection of new cars from (different) dealerships! HTH
-
I doubt it - prob only on MY 21 Columbus equipped cars?
-
The price I quoted included postage @ 9.90€! Unsure whether RM will demand a ‘Service Charge’?
-
Took mine out and apart last evening, it has a single LED in the boot light, unlike the Superskoda which has 18 LED's! I reckon the SS version will cost €35+ RM surcharge delivered, which would make it a pretty pricey mod?
-
Impressive light output - but actual cost in £'s delivered? (assuming RM will take their pound of flesh!)

Was it on April 1?
-
I've never been able to locate the 'gritty sponge' dealers use in the Škoda parts list !

I really do question whether this currently popular 'diamond cut' finish is sufficiently durable for our UK roads & climate. It keeps my friend who has a wheel refurbishing business very busy! See so many late models of all marques with these issues. I have 19" Crater rims on my Karoq, now removed for the winter and replaced with fully painted silver 18" Mytikas rims and winter tyres until April/May. When the dreaded 'white worm' appears on the Craters, despite my best efforts to protect them, I'll get them refinished in silver as I did on both sets of 'Annapurnas' on my previous (much loved and missed) Yeti CR 170 Good luck on a warranty claim! (I've had a warranty new replacement on a previous Golf, but have heard that in some cases refurbed rims may now be fitted as warranty replacements?)

Switch on brake.
-
Check your brake lights - I've had this in 2 previous cars!

Darren Meakins the Parts Manager at Caffyns is very helpful - my winter wheels came from him and they were excellently packed and delivered promptly at a fair price 👍🏻
