Octavia iV, 2020, front 'heated' screen?
Depends if your car is specced with it. Sounds like it isn’t. Mine is and works a dream

Remotely Lock & Unlock Doors Using MySkoda App
It’s not the keys, it’s proving you’re the owner by taking id like drivers licence to a dealer who then activate it for you. No cost

Infotainment screen issue with Car Play
Mine did similar thing after that little update that was barely noticeable. Some systems went screwy too like ACC. Forced a reboot of head unit and all back to normal (long press on )

Skoda wifi problem Is there any solution?
If your device has mobile data then there is no need to connect to the car’s wifi hotspot. If you activate wifi and hotspot you can’t ‘smartlink’ at the same time, ie CarPlay or android won’t then connect. It’s one or the other. It’s confusing as it sounds like the car can connect to WiFi, but there’s no need if the car already has data package for example if in first year of purchase. So get your data via your phone or the car’s data (if it has it)

Hybrid energy use
If I had timers on my white goods I’d then set them to work in the dead of the night too but sadly they’re too old for that. Boy, now that would be a saver!

Hybrid energy use
Do you charge overnight? My Bulb overnight tariff is just 8p (rising to 10p soon) between 0200 and 6. Can nearly fully charge even on a granny charger. Getting commando 32A socket fitted soon so it’ll be v quick to ‘fill up’ in those 4 hours. 10p/kWh is a comparative bargain

Octavia Mk4 aftermarket towbar
Very pleased to have a bike carrier again! Hybrid mk IV without factory prep. Easy fitting with no issues in 2.5 hours. Coding “easy” ACC to fitter. Test drive with rack, ACC working normally. In fact everything normal. No settings lost. Perhaps being on 1896 already eased the process. All in £755 with 150 just being for replacement ’diffuser’ with a Towbar shaped cutout needed. Visiting fitter did a great job. Have nothing to to tow so not breaking any law, just a 30kg bike carrier and bikes.

At long last... SW Version 1896
Happy camper here now up to 1896. Great service from Bournemouth Hendy. Booked within 2 weeks and a few hours later call that various updates done for ACC thinking it’s in Europe and inability to save satnav destinations. Despite a service manager overhearing the problems as I checked car in and trying to explain it as ACC being designed to be really cautious. My clue had been the traffic sign recognition changing to km p hour when it misbehaved ie 110 showing when on motorway it should be 70. The ACC couldn’t cope with rain but worked well some of the time. Touchscreen laggy, Kessy getting confused who was getting in car etc. Inability to save destinations or home location. All seems instantly improved. Mib module wasn’t talking to Skoda and getting updates apparently , so that was fixed and updated to 1896. Then as soon as got home an OTA update appeared so all looking healthy. See photos as was part F and now H. New assistance screen too Latest versions

Same situation of 0kg on my iV vin. Have found a willing fitter as I only need it for a bike carrier. They are confident re re-coding etc so will keep you informed.

OTA update available
What versions were you on and what are you now? I’m still 1804 and booked in in 2 weeks hopefully for 1896 or 1898 like the Seat owners are already getting

Skoda SD card unreadable when unlocked so can't update maps

Skoda SD card unreadable when unlocked so can't update maps
Well here's a weird one. Skoda SD card 32Gb works fine in car (MIB1 Amundsen). Plug into Mac and files can be seen fine. Unlock the SD card to be ready to update the files and it won't appear on desktop, in Disk Utility, anything. Tried everything with other card reader, restart etc but no dice. Anyone had the same ever? Any solution? Other SD cards are visible and writable fine
