Dampness in the Passenger Footwell
Hi all, Reviving this thread as I think it might be related to the issue discussed in this thread. My air conditioner in Karoq stopped working, just blows a warm air, not sure if the leakage last year is the cause of it as I tried not to use it since but it was very warm weekend and I switched it on and was unpleasantly surprised to find out there is no cool air. Will any body have an idea what might be wrong? I mean, if it needs re-gas then there might be a leak somewhere, is that expensive to identify? I booked the car to Skoda garage on 6th of October but would be good to know what could be wrong. The engine revs change when you press the Air Con button so compressor or the pump does kick in. Any advice is welcome. Many thanks

Your comment makes me think that there is something not totally right with my DSG. I checked a few months ago with Skoda if I there is a recall for it but they confirmed that my year/model do not have anything so I was nowhere with this. In most cases I do not have a problem, this only happens when I go over massive speed bump with ruined surface so I am very slow and the car changes to 1st gear and then it revs too high to go to 2nd gear. Unfortunately I need to ride over that speed bump at least 4 times a day - it is next to school where my kids are!

Will try that at some point. May be I was over expecting after having a few diesel engines remapped and feeling the changes straight away, petrol do like spin a bit faster.

Thanks for input @EnterName, mine moves off in 1st and changes to 2nd at about 2000rpm, so I guess this is normal. Apart from when I go over bid bad speed bumps, I have that jerkiness in drive, as i mentioned above.

I know, I noticed that straight away since I bought a car, it was weird, especially I came from very smooth CVT gearbox. Also, the car always starts moving from D1, I read somewhere here that other cars in normal driving start from D2.

I looked at the rpm this morning and driving normally all the gear changes happen about just under 2000rpm, sometimes, when going over big speed bumps the car drops to 1st gear and changes to 2nd at almost 2750rpm which gives unnecessary revs, noise and speed higher than you require for condition but this was before remap and was annoying me, I was hoping the DSG remap will solve this but it is the same thing now.

No idea what gear, I thought it should work through all the gears being DSG?

Will try Tesco next time. Will also price air filter and spark plugs. Are the spark plugs straight forward to change? Om my previous hybrid Lexus it was one hell of a job! This is graph I got. It seems like I should feel that additional torque!

Water ingress
Was it a lot of water you had in the car? Where was it mostly? I still did not find the reason I had my passenger floor mat wet underneath, I stopped using air-con for now and it seems fine but I din't drive through heavy rain yet. I hope the problem's gone, it didn't make me happy to find this issue and no ways to resolve it! I hope yours is fixed now!

Hi @toot, It wasn't ecotune, I went to the guy I know for the last 5 years, he is based in Glasgow, MartinAutoClinic, ha has done previously couple of diesel cars I owned and I was happy with his work. The petrol I use is e5 Shell V-Power but air filter and spark plugs were not changed, the car has only done 14k miles. Warranty is great to have but will it cover chipped engine and DSG? I doubt that. The car is on extended Skoda warranty for another 1.5 year, even though it is on 69 plate. Air filter I will change in a couple of thousand miles during my next service, I will do it even if Skoda says it does not need to be done until 40k miles for example. The car initial test had shown to have 152bhp and 241.3Nm torque, after remap we achieved 172bhp and 323Nm, I wanted to go with save numbers so not too overload a gearbox. I also did a DSG remap. After 40 minutes of driving home I honestly did not see much difference, for example with diesel engines I noticed the difference straight away, with petrol not so much, it does look like the car picks up better from 50-60mph but during normal driving I can't really tell the difference, weird. May be something to do with the engine being petrol or I just don't want to floor it! lol Even picking up kids from school the car behaved as usual, may be gearbox need time to adjust? May be I need to change air filter and plugs? Will give it a few more days and have guts to properly floor it. I also not sure if my fuel consumption will be affected, with diesel engines the fuel actually got better but with petrol who knows, will see. I remember that my automatic diesel BMW after remaping stopped changing gears from 3rd to 2nd on some hills as it had enough added torque to pull the car through, with Karoq, the same roads and the same driving experience as it was before remapping. I trust the guy, he has very modern dyno road and he spent 3.5 hours playing with the car so do not think he just took my money and did nothing.

Hi Stefan, how do you find the car after engine and DSG remap? Was it worth it? I booked my Karoq for tomorrow to do the same, engine and DSG, very curious how the car will feel after that. Previously I had tuning done to diesel cars I owned and it was well worth it, with this car only the gearbox that worries me, the tuner says he will add 30bhp and 85Nm of torque. Thanks

Fingers crossed that solved it! Only if it was that easy but lets hope! Let me know if it was successful. Thanks.

Hi, welcome to forum! I am glad that thread was useful, this is all about - helping, guiding. Do you have a sunroof? May be it is drains? Check the tree leaves are not stacked under the bonnet where other set of drains are. Please do report back, as for you, it might be useful for someone else in a future. I am dreading for warmer and wetter season in Scotland thinking my issue might get back, it is dry for now but I am not using aircon, well, it was on but it was cold enough outside and not wet in order for aircon to work, so I just turned it off as my car was getting frost on inside of the windscreen! Possibly aircon evaporator! I had similar issue with VW Passat when I had to scrape window on inside! Shocking!

Retrofitting Adaptive Cruise control
Hi Steven, did you get anywhere with retrofitting of ACC? I am exploring this option too, would like to have it on my Karoq. Thanks

New guy here
Welcome Filipe to forum. Until you share photos of the car we do not believe you have it. Is it a petrol or a diesel?

Hey All..
Welcome to forum! the car looks pretty clean, congratulations! How do you like the car so far? is 1.0 DSG enough to push an estate car?

Sound deadening project
After reading your post, I ordered 10 mm foam to do my doors!

It is a bit called outside to do a work like that if you don't have a garage. Once it gets warmer the thread will be updated.

Water leak
HI, welcome to forum. There are a few threads on the forum with the same/similar issues and there is no quick answer to what you might be having. Based on location of your dampness you can check rear door seals, in my case it was a leaky seal between the speaker and the door.

2017 Superb III (190 DSG) - water temperature - sudden increase then fall
Hi I have never noticed anything like that on my Karoq or any other cars I have had but I never paid attention to the temperature gauge as much as you did. I think your thermostat might be on the way and doesn't have an intermediate position, yours could be just fully closed or fully open. It needs to be fully closed when its cold outside and the car warming up using short loop in a heating/cooling system, to provide you with warm air quicker, when the car heats up, thermostat should gradually open until it is fully open to engage a longer loop in a heating/cooling system. It is a simple explanation but I hope you get the meaning.

Water ingress , driver and passenger side
Another owner with water ingress, Skoda or VAG is not doing well. I am having an ongoing issue with the same problem, at the moment I am awaiting a call from Skoda dealer to update me on it, They fixed the leak last week but the dampness is still here, luckily I do not have as much water as you do, but I noticed when I use air con it gets wetter - I can see condensation/dampness under my winter mat. I hope the garage can find a root cause for your leak quick and will be able to repair it. Keep us updated. Glasgow dealer expected to have my car for 3 days but came back to me the next day after I dropped the car off and said they found a leak and fixed it - it was rear door speaker seal! So hopefully your car won't need to stay as long in the garage as you expect but if they need to order new carpets it might take a week at least! Good Luck!

Dampness in the Passenger Footwell
I had my air con on today going home from work and I checked the winter mat underneath and it was sweaty (exactly the same as it was before) again! A phone call tomorrow to dealer to discuss, crap! Grrr!

Dampness in the Passenger Footwell
Could be the case @kodiaqsportline, I can't explain it either, may be it was always wet but because I bought the car during warmer period it was not that visible. I will need to turn on air-con today on a way home, I very much hope that it won't be leaking as per @sniperkona situation above!
