  1. I have similar story - the guy I know bought a Range Rover Evoque, I told him that I am looking at different data/sources/info/videos on all season tyres for my then Lexus GS, he said that putting winter/all season tyres on the car is a waste of money as tyres do nothing in such conditions and it is all about the car and the driver professionalism, at that point i stopped trying to prove my point, as you said - you can't argue with stupid! It amazes me that people believe in it!
  2. 1.5 week ago I swapped original Bridgestones with Pirelli Cinturato All season SF2 and they are great, much quieter than Bridgestone and softer. I still always afraid of the snow and majority of the people still have worn summer tyres and they still drive to work/schools etc and stuck on any sort of the inclined surface which doesn't help anyone who has winter or all season tyres as you are stuck behind all other drivers!
  3. Hi, sorry for high jacking the thread, I was applying the insulation and broke the clip/fixing on the door lock, see below. Does anyone know the part number for this part and can it be changed on it's own or the whole mechanism needs to be swapped? At the moment the front passenger door can't be open from the inside! The photo above is showing the driver door fixing which intact and working. It is not easy to remove the trim, couple clips were broken. Grrr Thanks
  4. Hi, how did it go? Did you remap your engine?
  5. Hi and welcome to forum! List your niggles and you should get help. Can I ask, why Skoda? What did you drive before?
  6. Hi, nope, mine are under rear seats too.
  7. I had Falkens on my BMW E39 5 series, more than 10 years ago and can't fault them, at that time these were good cheap alternative to brand tires. If you happy with the noise and fuel consumption or a wet handling I see no reason why you can't get another 2 tyres. I have not considered Falken in my last cars as I wanted an all season and Falken (all season) are not good enough on noise parameters which is very important to me and the price difference nowadays is much less if you go with Falkens or other brands, unless it is a Michelin Cross Climate +. Last Thursday (this week) I put on 4 Pirellis, all seasons and though I haven't taken car yet for a proper drive but just local runs but they already feel more comfortable and quieter plus I know if we get snow I won't be stacked away from home. Pirellis were about £20 more expensive per corner but I think it was worth it.
  8. Thanks for sharing. So these clips do not need to be rotated, twisted or anything? Just pulled back to unclip them? I have the same set of tools, red one.
  9. How do you remove carpet clips like the one on the picture below?
  10. Ordered today stuff for my boot floor and hopefully will be enough for under rear seat space. Yesterday tried to remove everything from the boot (spare wheel, jack etc) to see if I can get there to attach the isolation material. Looking forward to do it!
  11. Found it, page 1 of this thread shows photos with the material used. 👍
  12. What did you use for boot floor and under rear seat? Butyl sheets or closed foam? I might do it too! My next job is to put carpet into front door bins!
  13. That will be one quite Skoda! Well done and thanks for the updates! How expensive is the insulation material you are getting?
  14. Keep us updated please, I might need a tow bar but for carrying bikes not a trailer.
  15. Hey Johnny, welcome to forum. Tomintoul, I like that place, friend of mine has a house there (selling it now) and Tomintoul whiskey is one of my favourite too.
  16. Vlady replied to Karock's topic in Skoda Karoq
I would check tire pressures before re-setting the computer and would keep in eye on tires couple times a day to make sure visually none of them is loosing air.
  17. Fair enough, it is a good saving. The one I bought, Pirelli, are supposed to be very quite too, will see, I am still waiting for another 2 to arrive so I can put on all 4 in one time. In England I wouldn't consider all season tires or snow tires either.
  18. Hi Ruben, welcome to forum! Congratulations on your new cars! What mods were done to VRs by previous owner? The car looks very nice!
  19. Hello Patrick, welcome to forum! There are quite an upgrades you planned for the car, well done if it can be done. Keep us posted.
  20. Nice thread to follow, well done for shearing and effort. Thanks Keep it going.
  21. Hi, welcome to Forum. I usually join the forum every time I buy a new (to me) car and still stick to some of them even though the car was sold, just because of the good bunch of guys there. Anyway, enjoy your Octavia! Btw, you can attach some photos of the car. Vlad
  22. Signature test and this one does not work! Grrr
  23. Hello and welcome to forum! The car is beautiful and I love that colour! I like the fact that it has 4 matching tyres and looks like they are new too! Congratulations on a new car. Let us know how different (must be a lot) to your previous car, this one doesn't rev as high.
  24. Had a call from Skoda Glasgow (Henrys), service department checked all the data on Skoda server and the answer was no, no there was never recall on Skoda for DSG remapping and no the car has no outstanding recalls. Can I re-set a DSG gearbox ?
