  1. Yep, it's money spinner, classic over-servicing. Your AC will tell you when it needs regassing, i.e. cooling will become less effective. Unless you have a leak in the condenser or other component, on average the gas should hold (full cooling) for around 5 years. Every car of mine has done, and I run the system on auto all year round. Pollen filters should be changed periodically, nothing to do with the AC.
  2. I like those. FWIW I think Skoda has a great range of good looking wheels, just a matter of personal taste of course. I like the 18" Perseus Anthracite that my car came equipped with although I'm about the replace the wheel lug caps with chrome ones (on order from Ali Express) to 'link' the wheels with other chrome accents on the car. If I don't like the change I'll revert to back to stock.
  3. You have multiple issues going on it seems. You still have the residual of new car warranty which applies nationally, so I suggest your best bet is to have words with the Melbourne Skoda dealer you purchased it from. In my opinion the oil on the wheel, the lights problem and the faltering engine performance are all concerns that the dealer should address either directly, or refer you to the nearest Skoda authorised workshop for investigation under warranty. If the 'local dealer' you're referring to is an authorised Skoda workshop for warranty work then you should expect better service. Whether the car is new or used at the time of purchase it is still sold with a RWC by law, so at the very least the lights should have been checked at the inspection. Any dealer of repute would also perform a pre delivery inspection on the car regardless of RWC requirements. The warranty is your key card, so if all else fails maybe try contacting Skoda Australia for some answers.
  4. Sometimes stop-start is irritating, but if you keep light pressure on the brake pedal while stopped, the engine will keep running. With heavier pressure it stops. Works for me.
  5. I was also under the impression my style variant would have it, but it doesn't. MY23 built September 2022, delivered to Aus November 22. I bought it in January 23.
  6. The Octavia's lights are pretty good when properly set up. I'd get the lights checked first, it does sound like they're poorly aimed. This should be checked and rectified by Skoda under warranty. Headlight aim should also have been tested at the pre-purchase roadworthy inspection so I'd question why the car was sold to you with this problem. As for 'sensitive' electrics, yes they are, but it's not unique to Skoda. Electrical systems are very complex in all modern cars these days and sensors will likely pick up an aftermarket add-on, even an incorrect bulb type i.e. something that's not intended to be there. An accessory needs to be wired in professionally. I had a similar issue on a VW when having an aftermarket tow bar fitted and the trailer plug required a device to ensure the car's circuit would accept the socket without throwing a wobbly.
  7. Ah, good outcome, now you can enjoy! Who'd have thought it though - dicky tyres on a new car?
  8. Fingers crossed indeed, hope the relay 'fix' works for you.
  9. Good luck with it, pls keep us posted re. the outcome! I also read your post concerning HUD displays. Always handy to be aware of these occurrences...
  10. Thanks. I have only recently ventured into the app and that situation has become apparent. Seems there are 4 or 5 countries unsupported. MySkoda Connect tells me pretty much nothing, as you say!
  11. Just curious, but which app are you using, MySkoda or Skoda Connect Essentials? I can only log into the latter with my VIN, the 'new' MySkoda app isn't compatible with my MY23 car apparently.
  12. When you do finally get on the twisties, you'll be pleased with your choice for sure! Good luck with it and do let us know the outcome...
  13. I'm feeling for you mate, that is not a nice start to your new car experience. If it were mine I'd drive it straight onto the dealer's forecourt and hand over the keys. At less than a week old, and you've had the problem from day 1, I think you're justified. Then I'd be demanding a loan car until they can declare yours fit for purpose. I had a wheel wobble problem with a brand new Nissan many years ago and took the same action. Turned out to be a bent half shaft. Some scary things can occur during transportation, loading and unloading at the wharf etc...
  14. I've explained/corrected this in my post above....
  15. I recently bought a new Garmin Mini 2 Dashcam which fits neatly behind the right side of the mirror, same side as the socket (RHD car). The Garmin is a very tiny unit and with a short 20cm cable it makes for a very neat setup. BTW, in my post above I mentioned that my USB socket at the mirror appeared to be full time live, however I now correct that, the problem was with my previous dashcam. As soon as I connected the new Garmin it clearly functions properly via the ignition....
  16. Easy for us in AU since Skoda has no diesel offering in this country, all models are tsi of varying sizes from 1.4 litre up. I agree with others above re. the tsi. Having had diesel in other makes, personally I wouldn't go back to it due to common DPF issues, in addition to insignificant (if any) gains in fuel economy.
  17. On the Skoda.co.uk website under 'New Cars', includes downloadable brochures and pricelists. Pretty poor if the site hasn't been updated, wouldn't it be their primary marketing tool?
  18. When I read all of this and explore what's happening out of curiosity, I'm finding the UK market for these cars very confusing. Skoda UK have all the Octavia IV Estate's listed, including hybrid, and the brochures for them. Nothing to suggest discontinuation. So what happens when you approach a dealer, do they tell you they're no longer available to order?? If so, then why in the UK I wonder? We can order new ones in Aus. (petrol though, hybrid's haven't been marketed here) even though wait times are fairly protracted.
  19. I have flicked from D to S while driving (at fairly low speeds) without any problems. I prefer driving in S and usually select that from start up, just pull the 'thumb' shift back a second time before moving off. My car doesn't have DSG 7sp, it is the 8sp single clutch gearbox.
  20. There was a thread on the socket problem not long ago. A helpful member (can't recall who unfortunately) mentioned that it's possible to remove or at least lower the casing by squeezing in each side and wiggling it downwards to access the socket - it worked for me and I was able to push the socket back into place. I then plugged in my dashcam lead while holding socket from inside to prevent it pushing back in. I should have superglued the socket for a more permanent fix at the time, might do that eventually. It's just a niggly design fault. Sorry, can't help on the camera calibrations...
  21. I spent ages trying to work out how to add music to the Columbus hard drive only to discover there isn't one. I too use a USB thumb drive in one of the console C sockets.
  22. Thanks for the tip, I tried it but no button there unfortunately.
  23. Interesting outcome. So you got 4 keys?? I was surprised to get 3, all my previous cars came with 2 keys but this is my first Skoda... I'd like to remove the ugly phone holder from back of the font seat but can't seem to remove the headrest, so looks like I'm stuck with it. I rarely carry anyone in the back who 'needs' to use their phone on the move. The real bonus is your full size spare wheel!!
  24. I am aware of Daalder Exhausts in Dandenong and Triple R Muffler in Fawkner. I can't vouch for either of them having never used them, but they could be useful points to start your enquiries.
