  1. But the tax doesn't reduce your savings it just means the balance doesn't grow as much. The cars depreciation will way exceed the money you pay in tax.
  2. We need to close all the legal loopholes for reducing tax liability and reset the thresholds for higher amounts. At the moment with the fiscal drag method of raising revenue. 20% of everyone's increase in income or 40%for higher tax payers is taken by Government is perceived to have been taken. But the very wealthy can switch the raise to a method in which they pay no more. Everyone should be paying at least 20% irrespective of where the income comes from History of the current fiscal drag And Labour will use this to blame the Conservatives and keep it until 2028
  3. The distance between pedals varies very little between sizes of cars. A small automatic would also offer you the same advantage by not having the clutch pedal and you only use 1 foot
  4. I think that figure must be in the ballpark as they say. The 5p discount is reported as costing £2.4 - £3bn a year. Due to be removed next March unless extended. So Removing it early at 6pm Budget Day would raise over £1bn As evs increase they could replace the falling revenue by increasing the fuel duty as an added deterrent, like they did with Cigarettes.
  5. I assume this to be the bigger battery top of the range, price conditional on using their PCP finance
  6. Some good deals on them though
  7. I expect the 5p fuel duty cut will be ended early
  8. Start of year Two stats from the car Sep-Oct. This maybe the last Monthly because i have now retired, very little mileage to be expected in the Winter so I might go for doing it every 500 miles. This month Includes 256mile from Devon and 100 miles motorway round trip to Stoke on Trent 411mile @ 4.2m/kwh = 97.85 kwh. (39kwh Dc charging £30.01) + [email protected] (£14.93) = £44.94 My Mondeo would have averaged 60 mpg for 356m 0f these 411miles (£36.28) and 35mpg for 55miles @£1.359 litre (£9.61) = £45.89 Long term guessometer now reset. Stat from the GOM the car has been on for 13.29 hours and averaged 31mph.
  9. Interesting idea but would the extra daytime be hourswhen plugged in or only when plugged in charging. Because there is a limit on what charging you can do i.e once it's 100% if the lower rate stops. This would also be detrimental to your Battery over time.
  10. I think Not to the extent that the ev doesn't work normally. Whatever it's top bhp was would be reduced so things like 0-60 times would be slower. Maybe instead of 3sec it would be 8. I watch Kyle Connor on youtube and he does track days etc in the 90s centigrade on his own circuit. Studies all the data has he goes. When limited performance comes up on the screens he can still drive normally. He does road trips to Vegas challenging many evs in high temperatures through The Eisenhower tunnel and the cars don't drop from his set speed goal of 75mph
  11. When you push the button the vehicle is effectively at 2nd click if you had a Key. The warning is what i would expect if i was doing that. Ignition is on and you are draining the battery. There is no accessory mode. Push to start cars infotainment systems usually come on if you press the on button on that. usually with a warning "This will shut down in 30 minutes" or similar.
  12. A car engine's normal operating temperature is typically between 90c and 105c. People are 37c
  13. I thought even ulez was only euro 4 for petrol and euro 6 for diesel. So no need to sell euro 5 petrol (post 2006) Euro 4 emissions standards (petrol)CO: 1.0g/km THC: 0.10g/km NOx: 0.08g/km Euro 4 Diesel target was half of the co2 allowed for petrol but 3 x Nox
  14. Petrol vehicle from 2006 have the same NOx as 2020 diesels A 2006 petrol engine has a Euro 4 standard with a maximum NOx emission of 0.08 g/km0.08 g/km 0.08 g/km , while a 2020 diesel engine meets the Euro 6 standard, with a limit of 0.08 g/km0.08 g/km 0.08 g/km for NOx, so if they change the limit again they will exclude more petrol car too
  15. No, the Skoda Enyaq is not a small SUV; it is a mid-size SUV with a focus on practicality and spaciousness, often compared to family-sized vehicles. It offers a generous cabin, especially in the back, and a large boot for its class. Classified as a mid-size SUV: Multiple sources describe it as a mid-size or family-sized SUV, and it won the "Best Medium SUV" award at the 2024 Business Car Awards, according to Business Car. Spacious interior: The Enyaq is designed for family use, with ample legroom for rear passengers and enough width for three adults to sit comfortably in the back, notes Exchange & Mart and Carwow. Large boot: It has a substantial boot capacity of 585 liters, which can be expanded to 1,710 liters by folding down the rear seats, making it very practical for luggage and shopping. Platform and size: It shares a platform with the Volkswagen ID.4 but is larger, offering more interior space, says Parkers and Business Car.
  16. For car parks i look for spaces where one has reversed in and the car to it's offside has gone nose in. leaving loads of room for me to reverse in the middle of the lines.
  17. Parking spaces have a set minimum requirement. @Graham Butcher do the widths quoted include the mirrors? If two model Ys parked correctly in the bays there would be at least 400mm (over 15inch) between them
  18. Thanks. Fuel injector spray patterns incorrect and need cleaning or replacing. EGR system blocked or not working Boost pipes split In fact All the things that you can find about diesel engines putting out clouds of black smoke in the past. The Dpf just masks the symptoms.
  19. Start/stop can be the earliest sign of a battery issue. When it doesn't happen is the stop/start lamp greyed out or crossed out on the dashboard. If it is it means the system is working but conditions needed to work are not being met
  20. I think what @pikpilot is suggesting is that changing the values in the software does not physically remove the ash. Changing the values can be useful to cheat the ecu into doing a regen when it won't because it deems ash levels are too high. The amount of ash does not change that is in the dpf. Lowering the value can trick the system to do a regen and if the regen is succesfully completed. This can kick the can down the road for a bit longer. Eventually the ash will need removing physically or dpf replaced. A dpf is not a cure to diesel being burned inefficiently either, it just catches and stops soot. If a vehicle is doing too frequent re-gens, It's wise to look at the cause not the environmental solution. Before DPFS it was obvious when an engine was struggling the dpfs hide issues.
  21. If the yellow battery lamp comes on with ignition on but no engine running is it not just to warn you that you have the ignition on but no engine running. If it comes on whilst running it would be to warn of a charging problem. What circumstances require the ignition to be on without running the engine. The infotainment should work if you switch it on without the ignition on. 1st click for accessories but no ignition on, after a while a battery message may come on. 2nd click ignition on dashboard lamp cycle to check they work but go off. Left in this position battery lamp to warn ignition on battery being drained unnecessarily. 3rd position operates starter motor Everything I drive warns of ignition in position 2 but no engine started in some way. With vehicles that i have driven with a start button . Pressing start puts ignition on. Applying brake at the same time operates the starter. so Pushing button alone is position 2.
  22. Ordered in August and received first week of October , It suggests it was here already. Especially if she couldn't pick the interior she wanted.
