Touchscreen not working
Unless you specifically request the dealer to do a software update they are unlikely to do it as a matter of course. Even when you do request them to do it many dealers seem reluctant and spin a load of BS that they are unable to perform the update therefore you literally have to insist and check the software version when you collect the car as they'll tell you they have when they blatantly haven't.

Pop pop,SOS
Since the updates to 1941 and SOS module firmware update I went from POP POP occurring virtually every journey and usually knocking out the SOS unit completely, at a minimum, to no Pops at all. Odd, after seven weeks of nothing I have had a couple in the last 10 days. As I said, despite these re-occurrences of the double POP, no adverse affects to the cars systems, so I guess there's nothing to complain to the dealer about - if it ain't broken and all that.

Pop pop,SOS
I had the dealership update my system to 1941 and update the SOS module firmware and for the last 7 weeks no Pop Pop noise. Recently had it occur twice, with same message momentarily flashing up on Virtual Cockpit but no adverse effects such as SOS unit crashing or Sat Nav offsetting position of vehicle. Did you get any further work done, such as new SOS module hardware, when it came back or just left it as it is? Asking as my Original Warranty expires in a couple weeks so would likely need to act now if hardware replacement needed. My inclination is it's only been twice and ultimately everything continued to work as expected so hopefully a non-issue.

Issues with Early Build (2020) SEL 1st Ed Models
Worth adding, with regards to the SOS unit and the pop pop noise. Prior to them applying the SOS module Firmware update in my car (no hardware replacement) this happened virtually every journey. Afterwards it was sorted and I hadn't heard the pop pop for something like 7 weeks of driving, including a couple 500 mile round trips. Oddly, in the last 10 days had the pop pop twice, quick message regarding SOS unit flashes up on the virtual cockpit but then everything fine. SOS module doesn't completely crash like before and stays online, no detrimental effects to user experience. Couple of thoughts, one theory was that the SOS module "hiccupped" as it switched between 3G / 4G signal leading to the whole unit crashing. There is possibly something in that as I did notice on my commute it would often happen around the same spot and, when speaking with the Master Technician as the Dealership he commented that they always drove cars on a certain road nearby to replicate the problem. Second thought, why am I not worried? It's only happened twice since updates and nothing untoward happened which makes me wonder if the firmware update was to ensure the unit didn't crash when it switched signals - basically gave it some stability when it interacted with the main Infotainment unit? Also, 3G is basically being retired this year by most networks so possibly it will naturally become irrelevant? Fingers crossed it all stays stable.

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
It all sounds a bit much but don't be put off as they are great cars and, it would seem, Skoda have finally now got on top of the issues via stable software updates so you and I benefit from that (think of the poor owners that endured 18 months / two years of problems). Once the software was sorted on mine, and I was fortunate that it only took a single visit, then it's all been good. You are doing the correct thing by going armed with knowledge and the reality is a Dealership updating the Infotainment version 1941 and possibly checking the SOS module is not that big a deal for them to secure a sale. The sales guy will inevitably plead ignorance to any issues and say it's not widespread but that's sales people for you. I also see you are London based? My local Skoda Dealership (not the selling Dealership) is Trans City in Walthamstow E17 who seemed pretty good based on my visit.

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
TSI document should read TPI document. By way of an example I have attached the one I printed and took into the Dealership to resolve the software issues whIch found on this forum. I think it was useful device to get them to do the necessary work. Maybe you could arm yourself with this at the point of purchasing your vehicle? It's worth noting that Skoda Approved Used Cars are meant to come with all software updated (mine didn't) - they will probably fob you off with "it can only be done OTA" - it's rubbish, they can apply it in the workshop. At the same time you could get them to also check and update the SOS modules firmware as that seems to be a widespread issue on the earlier models? Like I said, no new hardware was required on mine just the module firmware being updated (I have a 70 plate registered January 2021). TPI_2065556-10.png.5d4f06e59cfc0299d190c193b46a2866.pdf

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
I purchased SEL FIrst Edition in October 2023. Initially had lots of issues with Infotainment system and SOS module. Got a Dealership to update to software version 1941 and also update the SOS module firmware and, since then, it’s all been good. The trouble is, I believe, these modern cars have multiple ECU’s for different functionality that all have their own firmware. It’s not always just a simple software update of the Infotainment system that is required but also relevant firmware updates of individual ECU’s which I think only the dealers can do and then only if you are having specific issues with that function. Flip side is hardware replacement is not always necessary (they also won”t replace hardware without you actually having an issue and even then they would initially see if a firmware update solves problem), My advice, make absolutely sure that any Skoda you purchase is updated to Infotainment software version 1941prior to purchase. Check the warranty that comes with the car includes software - whilst my Škoda came with Škoda Approved Used Car warranty the updates I got done were done under the original 3 Year manufacturer warranty. If you do have to deal with Dealership be as clued up as you can be - I went with comprehensive list of issues, a printout of what I believed was the relevant TSI document Skoda had issued and my expectations of what work I required doing. Saying all this it’s a great car, nice to get the extras that they bundled with the First Edition (I also got leather seats) and am overall very pleased with the purchase.

Skoda Connect Services Renewal
I', inclined to agree that Online Voice Control is likely linked to POI's and that internal commends relating to switching radio and aircon will be fine without subscription. I guess I'll let that one expire and see what happens. Skoda Connect Services Renewal
When I purchased my Skoda Approved Used Octavia it still had a couple of Skoda Connect subscriptions associated with it that are now due for renewal. I assume, to keep information in the App such as mpg data, check the car is locked (no remote locking on my model), defect warnings, car alarm notification I would need to renew Care Connect - Remote Access? If that's the case then I am fine with that. Infotianment Online - as I don't use the on-board Sat Nav (pay for Tom Tom Go via CarPlay), and understand that I won't receive OTA map updates, I don't see any reason to renew. The only caveat to that decision is what do they mean by "Online Voice Control"? I do use Laura to switch radio stations, change Aircon settings, seat heater but that's about it. I assume that functionality remains? Thanks in advance for any insight.

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
Pretty sure that is not possibe. Something you might try as a "work around - If the SOS system is in a crashed state, to press the SOS button, in the roof, for up-to 1 - 2 minutes as that seems to reboot it as well as the Infotainment system. You literally have to keep the button pressed for what seems like an inordinate time but for me that cleared the SOS module crash and also the associated Infotianment issues. Keep an eye that the system doesn't try to call the SOS call centre, if it does you can usually cancel the call before it connects.

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
Possible consideration..... Does the SOS system "crash" at around the same time. I think a lot of the SOS modules issues were when it swapped between 5G / 4G / 3G signal and this would cause it to crash - this would then cause other issues with the Infotainment software such as, on occasions, your SatNav position to drift wether you were using the built in SatNav or Carplay. Got this issue resolved by the dealer updating SOS module firmare and updating software to 1941.

Roof bars
The Mk4 roof rails are flush to the car roof, if I am not mistaken the MK3 roof rails are raised? If that's the case you would certainly need new mounting / footing attachments. You can run your car registration or enter your car model on most roof bar re-sellers and you should be able to see the difference in parts that way? https://www.driveden.com/

Central Armrest Position Height Issue
I am a complete Numpty! Just went out I tried it again and there is a very faint clicking of a ratchet and that works and can now raise the height. Sometimes the simplest of things stare you straight in the face - the apparent obvious I had completely overlooked.
-
Central Armrest Position Height Issue
I have had my 2021 Octavia Estate SE L First Edition for a couple of months. The central arm rest for the driver, I recall I have had this set at a higher position to enable the driver to rest their arm on it (great for longer journeys) but for the life of me I can't seem to get it to do this now. Should be a simple enough but I can only get it to extend forward and back at the lower height, that fully covers the storage port, I can tip also it up for access to the storage port and the arm holds it position when tipped. Am I just being plain stupid not being able to raise it's height when it's extended forward over the console and is there some obscure knack I am missing? Was it my imagination that it could be set to a higher position? Or is is just plain broken?

Infotainment Issues - Booked In To Skoda Workshop - Any Advice?
The Octavia is designed to receive OTA updates so theoretically, at some point, it should update to software version 1941, however who knows when that may occur? Also I believe the dealer needs to sort the SOS unit out which hopefully will just be a firmware update. The Master Tech did mention that the firmware update they had applied was more stable / reliable than a previous one Škoda had released.

- Infotainment Issues - Booked In To Skoda Workshop - Any Advice?
My car is 2020 Build SEL First Edition Estate, which I purchased in October 2023 as a Škoda Approved Used Car. From day one had all of the Infotainment issues that are well documented and the SOS unit crashed on virtually every journey. i understand your concerns as I had them to some extent but literally car went into the dealership three weeks ago for less than a full day where they did the software update and SOS unit firmware update (no new unit required) and since I have had it back it has been 100% good - the difference is night and day. I’m not sure spending another £3000 on a newer car is necessary or even the solution. I would get it booked in and follow the advice I have posted. Print a list of the issues and what you expect the workshop to do to resolve them. I would insist they update the software but also highlight that they should update the SOS unit firmware, if required, as I believe that some dealerships miss this important stage out. i actually think we are the fortunate ones as the Infotainment issues remained unresolved for around two years much to the frustration of Octavia Mk4 owners. It is only software version 1941 that seems to be much more stable. As an aside, talking to other car manufacturers owners it seems many Infotainment systems have their quirks.- Infotainment Issues - Booked In To Skoda Workshop - Any Advice?
If Škoda Approved Used car the warranty is valid across the Škoda dealer network - you are not tied to the dealer you purchased from. i bought ours from a Škoda dealership in the Midlands and drove 120 miles to collect the car but had the work on the SOS Unit and Infotainment system done at our local Škoda dealership under the warranty.- Infotainment Issues - Booked In To Skoda Workshop - Any Advice?
I wouldn’t like to comment on your daughters car but I had loads of issues but once they installed software 1941 and updated the SOS unit firmware it’s been completely trouble free. The consensus seems to be that 1941 has resolved most, if not all of the known issues. However, your daughters car should still be within its original 3 year manufacturer warranty if registered October 2023 and if a Škoda Approved second hand car then that’s carries a 12 month warranty. Looking at the hardware version I wonder if you mean registered in October 2020?- Current Map Version / Navigation Database Number?
Thanks - currently getting OTA updates as must be a subscription linked to the car from the previous owner. That expires in February and I likely won't renew and start doing them manually from that point as I generally use Tom Tom Go via CarPlay (I like the speed camera database).- Current Map Version / Navigation Database Number?
There you have it, it was staring me straight in my eyes. CW = calendar Week which is 7th November 2023. Sometime you can't see the wood for the trees. Many thanks for highlighting this for me - useful going forward.- Current Map Version / Navigation Database Number?
Maybe my perception skills aren't reading the Skoda Portal correctly but how does "ECE 2023 Valid Since CW 45/2023" correlate with what the Infotainment system reports - which is "23.11" or November 2023? Apologies if I am being completely stupid on this one (which could be the case, it's been a long week) but I would have thought the portal would also say "23.11" making it totally clear? - Infotainment Issues - Booked In To Skoda Workshop - Any Advice?
